NEVERENDING ♾️ The NEVERENDING What's Ailing You Now? Thread

Diagnosed two weeks ago with leaking cerebrospinal fluid at two locations in my spine. Blood is injected into the spine and forms a "blood patch" to seal the holes. Seems to have done the trick as I don't have the nuclear headaches caused from a sagging brain. Still some residual issues to follow-up with but I am hopeful.

Dr. Google will have you firmly convinced that you are dying and need to make things right with the Almighty. I tend to take Dr. Google with a grain of salt.

The universe has spoken, but I'm not quite sure what the message is. I'm out of commission for a few weeks while my broken foot heals. No cycling, no kayaking, no field work. I did manage to get permission to go camping in a couple of weeks. My foot is in a boot. That's good. I was worried I'd injure myself further using those.

Sorry to hear that. Hope it heals up quick. The boot is a pain but does work.

I don't know what's wrong, but I "left" work early yesterday and am not working again today.

Lightheaded, but haven't fainted. Stomach not upset, but I go from not hungry to famished in a blink. Not overly tired/fatigued, but not at my usual energy levels. Overall feeling that something isn't right, but I can't pinpoint the exact reason.

Yesterday I did have stronger symptoms, enough that I ask Hubby if his stomach was bothering him. I thought it might have been something I cooked that didn't come out right. But he's fine. So I'm left to wonder if I'm reacting to something I ate, or if it's a mild bug that will pass. If I don't feel better this afternoon, I may see about getting into the doctor tomorrow.

Wait, what happened? How did you break your foot?

My foot went over the back of one of my basement steps.

The PA said that the bone shifted since the first x-rays and it's borderline for needing surgery. I said no to surgery. I would be off my foot for 6 weeks. I live alone with a flight of stairs between the kitchen and the bathroom. I need to be able to get to both.

I can empathize. I broke both feet about 10 years ago.

Had a another contrasting CT - stable. - 1 year return.

A1C is 7 - no change in meds.

I try to stay pretty active with softball, pickleball, climbing on ladders at home etc. But at my age I seem to have more aches and pains and get dinged up a little more regularly than I used to. After recommendations from several people I've been trying Blue Emu for a few weeks now. I have to say that stuff works. At least for me. It's not an instant fix or feeling like Icy Hot or something like that. But over time it really does seem to help. At least for me it does. I use it just about everyday on my "problem" areas and I definitely feel a difference. The best part is there is no smell and it's non-greasy.

Infected tooth. Will have to be extracted. Started antibiotics after the 7:30 am dentist appointment and a painkiller. (I am begging anyone I can think of for this painkiller to work, because I'm in agony over here.) Dentist told me to hold off on the other painkiller until I get home since it will leave me "unproductive". :woozy:

^^ Serious ouch! Fingers crossed your pill(s) kick in soon!

I am overdue for a dentist appt. I usually go every 6 months like clockwork. But I haven't been since last fall because of COVID. the next appt will not be fun, I can tell.

I'm in this same boat, I keep rescheduling appointments and this last time moved it to March 2021. I don't want to willingly go to the dentist during Covid for just a cleaning (emergency visits and procedures seem much more valid reasons). I'm hoping my at-home dental care regimen will keep any problems at bay.

I went to the dentist after a very long while last week. I am pretty meticulous with my at home dental routine so I knew I did not have any cavities. It was fine. Only people with appointments are allowed inside the clinic and masks are mandatory, the staff were all gowned, gloved, masked, as well as shielded and it was clear they sanitize everything and maintain social distancing as much as possible. They texted a link to a health questionnaire the morning of the appointment asking about current health, COVID exposure, recent travel, etc. When I arrived at the clinic they took my temperature, I spent 5 minutes in the waiting room by myself, was called for xrays and dental exam, and sent off for a cleaning.

For the first time since Friday, I'm not in agonizing pain. Thanks for the good thoughts.

I pushed my regular appointment back two or three months and had my cleaning in late August. I was impressed with my dentist's covid-19 precautions and had no anxiety about that going to see him today.

I had to get new glasses because my eyesight is slipping. The new glasses are a bit of a mixed blessing and I don't have a lot of options.

I had a weird allergy attack yesterday. My nose still is a bit residually stuffed up. If you're clamoring for more details I can oblige.

The ringing in my ears still has not gone completely away. I thought it was gone late yesterday, but it's back - just not as loud. If the steroid shot doesn't kick it, then it's off to the ENT specialist. Yuck.

My mom's biopsy came back positive. Now we have to find out if it's the same cancer, a different type, surgery options, etc. It's going to be a very stressful holiday week.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Try to enjoy the holidays and concentrate on the good. (easier said than done, I wholeheartedly know)

Finally made the appointment with the ENT for next week. The ringing won't stop, but at least I can sleep. I had to wait a bit due to my quarantining after positive COVID exposure.:virus:

Mom had to have 2 surgeries to get all of the lump out (no clean margins on first removal). Some lymph nodes also removed. Chemo starts next week.

You should not dwell in fear. You should, however, work to have some sort of support network where a local friend checks in on you at occasional intervals.

(imho) The friend(s) who check in on him on occasional intervals need not be local. They can telephone** him from pretty much any distance to quickly ask if he's OK.
If they don't get him after repeatedly telephoning, that's when they should call his local friend/acquaintance/neighbor to drop by & see if he's OK.

**I would have said "text message", but JNA may not want to always be available by text.

I don't think he has a phone that can text.

JNA- What do you think of the rest of my idea?

See, I wasn't being ugly when I posted.
Oh, I know you weren't being ugly. (I'd sure like to know what you actually look like, other than the Scandinavian part, but that's for another topic.)

Dermatology Dr visit - found a another spot to cut out on my back - got a couple of stiches - will find out who my friends are to change the bandage.

The ringing in my ears and occasional dizzy spells continue, so I had an MRI over the weekend. This was just the head and neck, with the cage over the face and very bright light. I was borderline panicky but forced myself to do my breathing exercises and focus on relaxing. I survived but hope I don't have to do that again.

I see the dr for follow-up later this week.

Been experiencing several bouts lately with acid reflux at night, where I wake up suddenly choking on reflux that's burning in my trachea. Each incident is guaranteed to equal the loss of at least two - three hours of sleep. Sunday night was the third such episode in as many months.

That was me until I discovered Prilosec. It is OTC generic as Omezerapole but get a prescription and save $. Serious recommendation as people have died from such events.

That's what I take as well. I've also cut way, way, way back on Diet Coke. Both seem to help. Also try sleeping with your head/upper back elevated. I use pillows.

I fell down my stairs the other day and hurt my neck. I am on nabaumetone as an anti-inflammatory and it helps very much. But it shows how I am getting old. I cant roll around and mosh at 30 like I did at 20, makes me feel made of glass lol aging......
