It's 84 here. Unseasonably warm. Not that I'm complaining. Humidity is low so it's really nice.
We weren't planning to go anywhere for spring break but my wife is warming up to the idea of traveling again. She's still not too keen on getting on an airplane so we're thinking maybe somewhere along the Carolina coast since we can make that drive in a day. I was curious about weather there right now so I looked up what it is in Wilmington, NC over the next 10 days (even though we theoretically wouldn't be going anywhere for another month or so) and was surprised to see it in the 80s there today and tomorrow... then it's supposed to drop back down to the 50s.
Just started moderate snowing and forecast to continue through early Friday am.
My commute home in 2 hours may be 'fun'.![]()
Visit the Beaufort/Hilton Head area. The weather should be good and there's lots to do. Savannah is close by too. And for what it's worth, airplanes probably have some of the best filtered air anywhere. Far better than restaurants and shops.
I've thought about this as well. But came to the conclusion it's kind of like visiting some old childhood haunt. It's not really the same, and it won't be the same experience when you're viewing it from the outside. Best to leave the memories intact as they are.I've thought about that area. I'd like to go visit Parris Island and see how different it is from my memories.
Got maybe 3-4" of fairly fluffy stuff last night. It's still snowing a bit. Won't be around next week.
EDIT: since virtually all the snow melted a couple weeks ago, today's snow on a 'blank canvas' captures a bit of the charm of snow in early winter. It's clean and picturesque.
Yah it is so picturesque I am not going to shovel it and let the sun do its thing. We got about 2" over here but it's still coming down. You are right about it being picturesque today - Though she was complaining at breakfast about winter still going on, when I was driving her to school and we were cutting through some residential neighborhoods even my daughter commented about how pretty it was today.
Same here. Let Mother Nature do the job.Yah it is so picturesque I am not going to shovel it and let the sun do its thing.
Yup! & 70s the following weekend.Spring time in the South East...

Last Friday it was in the 30s in the morning.
Saturday and Sunday were mostly sunny and in the low 80s.
Yesterday it was only 45 for a high
Today it will be rainy and in the low 60s.
Chance of severe thunderstorms and tornados tomorrow.
Sunday morning it will be in the 20s with a high in the mid 40s.
Back up to the mid 60s on Monday.
Oh, I'm sure we will get more snow before it's all said and done - but, Spring is definitely here now.Spring may have sprung here this week - it's currently 65 F - but I don't believe for a minute its going to stay that way for more than a couple days.
But a few days later it looks like spring will be back...Spring may have sprung here this week - it's currently 65 F - but I don't believe for a minute its going to stay that way for more than a couple days.

It's going to be an interesting afternoon and evening! 37 Counties are included in this Tornado Watch. We need rain (wildfires!) but not the winds . . .
Yep. I'm about to head out from the office to pickup 'Burb Fixer 2.0 a little early. About 15 years ago I witnessed softball-size hail where I live, with a friend that went to the hospital for stitches after getting caught in a parking lot trying to seek shelter.https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/watch/ww0054.html (Storm Prediction Center Tornado Watch 54)

I'd like to mark myself safe from the Texas tornadoes this afternoon. How 'bout you, @Salmissra ?
Pretty much the same we had, except I don't think we ever got any hail. I heard reports of ping-pong ball sized hail in north Texas though. That can do some damage.A ton of rain, strong winds, and a brief appearance of hail.
Weatherman says we are about 20 days ahead of schedule for trees/plants blossoming. Which would explain why my allergies are driving me batty.
From Monday...
Yeah, the comments on that tweet say that repeatedly.OK... if GM does not buy the rights to this video to use in every future "Like A Rock" commerical, they are missing a golden opportunity.
I can see the small print already: "Not a Professional driver. Not on a closed course. Do not attempt this, ever."OK... if GM does not buy the rights to this video to use in every future "Like A Rock" commerical, they are missing a golden opportunity.

I know a now-retired planner who experienced something like that in the parking lot of a grocery store. Luckily only broke his wrist.Has anybody found the driver of that truck and conducted an interview with them? I'd love to hear what was going through their mind while that was happening.

His hair turned from black to white in a matter of weeks.
^^Yes, it was a 16 year old on his way home from a job interview at a fast food place. He made it through with some small cuts and bruises. The truck is toast.
And he got the job!
I see one of the photographed homes managed to save the essentials:
