NEVERENDING ♾️ The NEVERENDING Political Discussion Thread

I'm conflicted on the hockey players. Is the white house using them as a pawn to make the pres look good? Yep. Do the hockey players get a special once in a lifetime moment at the white house regardless of who the pres is? Yep.

Then again, if I were king I would invite all the Olympians to something special that I just made up to celebrate them or maybe show up to some event just to say how awesome they are, but that's recognizing other people's greatness and not my own.

Better yet don't turn the tv on , go read a book.

It was great to see my dad this weekend, but he kept trying to talk politics and tried to convince me that there is "proof" that Trump beat Biden.

My question is the MAGA folks keep proclaiming proof, but I have yet to see any. Does anyone know what they are talking about? He provided some claims of post office officials turning over absentee ballots late and they counted, but I can't find any record of that.
There’s no credible proof and it’s an endless echo chamber. During the litigation over the election results, the GOP had little actual evidence to submit in court and they couldn’t lie in the court filings otherwise they’d lost their license.

A lot of people that have been swindled by Trump & Co were decent people. I say "were" because not an insignificant contingent has doubled down and refuse to receive any reasonable, verifiable proof that contradicts what the Orange Menace have told them to believe.

I completely agree, although I am not conflicted. I like hockey because I like hockey... not because of someone's political affiliation. Now, personally, I would not go if I were them, but I am not. I applaud the woman's team for not going. However, the official stance of the woman's team not going is:
"We are sincerely grateful for the invitation extended to our gold medal–winning U.S. Women’s Hockey Team and deeply appreciate the recognition of their extraordinary achievement," a USA Hockey spokesperson said. "Due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games, the athletes are unable to participate."

"They were honored to be included and are grateful for the acknowledgment," the spokesperson added.

I think it is classy and even if there are political reasons behind it, they did the right thing and kept politics out of it. While I think it would have been great if they did the same thing as the Woman's team citing practice schedules and other obligations, I am not going to write them off as losers because of their decision to go.

I completely understand why people are mad at Trump and a lot of those he has around him. It is 100% justifiable and I am mad at most of what he does, but I also think it is important to be mad at the right people. Just because someone does not have the same political opinion or isn't willing to turn down an invite to be at the SOTU in person does not make them a loser.

I blame more of this on the pres being an idiot. Any real pres would congratulate the athletes - which he did - then have the chief of staff or whoever set up a special event at the white house for all the olympians.
