“Existing housing, people that own their homes, we’re gonna keep them wealthy,” Trump said. “We’re gonna keep those prices up. We’re not gonna destroy the value of their homes so that somebody that didn’t work very hard can buy a home.”

While Trump promised his administration would work to lower interest rates and make buying easier, he said he did not want home prices to fall.

“I don’t want to drive housing prices down,” he said. “I want to drive housing prices up for people that own their homes and they can be assured that’s what’s going to happen.”

I think this is the interesting and frightening paradox and a real concern for many people who bought homes over the past few years. However I don't think lowering interest rates will get him the results that he thinks it will.

All of this sounds rather abstract to the two of you. However, I'm in a state where they are actively deployed, and as a POC, I don't even want to go to the grocery store at this point. They are actively profiling individuals who fit the mold they're looking for, and because these aren't Uncle Sam's best and brightest, any shade of melanin can land you a 'papers, please' check. These are J6ers with a badge.

Pinochet-style roving murder squads plucking folks off the street was not on my 2026 bingo card. It's horrendous.
My spouse is a Latino immigrant. I made him put his passport card in his wallet and gave him the rundown of what to do if stopped by ICE. We live in a very diverse state with a large foreign born population. The goons have problems differentiating brown people. My former city councilwoman who is now a U.S. Representative is still facing federal charges for trying to inspect the local ICE facility.

State agencies are directed to not allow ICE/CBP to enter buildings without a judge signed warrant.

Journalist Don Lemon was arrested last night in Los Angeles after the Justice Department went shopping for a judge to sign an arrest warrant. They were previously denied by two federal judges in Minnesota. He’s supposed to have a hearing this morning.
