NEVERENDING ♾️ The NEVERENDING Political Discussion Thread

So I saw another horrible local political ad. Some lady running for state rep and she talks about law enforcement protecting us when anti-life rioters attacked the state capital. The only problem, the last "riot" at the state capital was the stop the steal rally. I think she may have the wrong footage.

This is sad. Music Midtown was a fun time when I was younger and actually enjoyed standing in a crowd with thousands of people.

"Georgia law allows guns at public parks, and preempts local governments from passing local firearms rules that are stricter than state regulations.

Music Midtown has typically banned weapons “of any kind” from being brought into Piedmont Park. A court ruling earlier this year, however, could call into question their ability to legally enforce that rule."

...some performers refuse to play to armed audiences. Dylan said he played clubs so rough he stayed behind a chicken wire screen to block thrown beer bottles.

Went to Chastain Park in June to see Bonnie Rait. Very strict screening with lots of cops, clear bags only etc. I thought Chastain was public also.

Las Vegas 2017 and that wasn't even in the event.

The Roe decision may breathe new life into the midterms for democrats who might otherwise not go to the polls.

The best thing about Michigan's primaries being held yesterday is that I should get a reprieve from the constant stream of texts from various campaigns asking for my support.

FWIW, over the past couple weeks, I was getting at least 3 or 4 of those texts a day, almost exclusively from R candidates for governor. What's interesting though is that I've never voted for an R for governor (or senator or our state or federal reps) in a general election. My wife has voted R a few times (but not in a few decades) and has even donated to Rs in the distant past but has received exactly 0 of those text messages. However, she hasn't voted for an R in a primary or general in quite a while now whereas I vote R in the primary nearly every cycle. I wonder if that's where they're getting their list of who to text...

Turns out when you put abortion up for the public to vote on, they support it. Funny. You would think the vocal minority of people, in states where they need access the most, would understand that. But they don't.

I think the D's run hard on it, and likely win back more seats than they should on a mid-term. Couple that with the terrible Trump candidates and the R's aren't exactly putting together a solid team to face off against the D's.

Let's hope the "Forward" party gets their sh!t together and puts up a centrist candidate that forces both parties to find the middle again.

This makes me think about the viability of certain thresholds for our representative democracy.

In our profession, we talk about representative government as an important lynchpin for the functioning of our communities and that direct democracy will be difficult to administer, etc.

But that's presuming the reps that get elected actually represent their constituents in good faith.

Is representative government only good when it's doing what you/your group/your side/your tribe wants to happen?

What's the threshold(s) at which we move from representative government decision making to direct democracy decision making?

Seems to be a constant push/pull for our nation.

Still waiting on the vote count between crazy developer lady and super crazy ex TV anchor lady.

Well at least your Q guy came in 7th out of 7!

Also Alex Jones caught in repeated lies on the stand, evidently by information his counsel mistakenly sent to the prosecutions lawyers. Ha Ha Ha

The criminals that currently lead the right, at long last, are starting to get their come-uppance. Not only is this going to personally cost Jones hundreds of millions in the civil suit, but now the January 6 committee is shortly going to have access to all of his texts. Which also means that the empaneled January 6 grand jury in DC will soon be getting those texts too.

And I didn't think schadenfreude could get any better but evidently a day or two earlier on his show Jones accused the court and jurors of being clueless and not knowing what planet they're living on. The plaintiff's attorneys thoughtfully introduced the clip into the proceedings (good part starts around 3:22).

Alex Jones is a terrible human being and person and I hope he is financially devastated by this trial.

This reinforces that there is an objectively strong case to be made that Jones and his ilk are literally evil.
"...He's taught in his school
From the start by the rule
That the laws are with him
To protect his white skin
To keep up his hate
So he never thinks straight
'Bout the shape that he's in
But it ain't him to blame
He's only a pawn in their game..."---B. Dylan

Yep. Not crazy. Pure EVIL.

That's what so few people realize. They merely tack on the word "Crazy" to everything. As if they are not in control of their emotions and that somehow excuses them.

No, they are irredeemably evil. It's merely deciding whether they are Chaotic Evil or Lawful Evil, ala Dungeons and Dragons.

Trump is not Crazy. He is Evil. Chaotic Evil
McConnell is not Crazy. He is Evil. Lawful Evil
Alex Jones is not Crazy. He is Evil. Chaotic Evil
Abbott is not Crazy. He is Evil. Lawful Evil
DeSatan is not Crazy. He is Evil. Lawful Evil

The Parkland/Uvalde/Buffalo shooters are not crazy. They are Evil. They are Chaotic Evil

The list goes on and on....

The January 6th Rioters on the other hand ARE crazy and most them are evil. But a better blanket statement would be to say they are all just pieces of shit.

deceived me into thinking I had something to protect

Good and bad, I define these terms quite clear, no doubt, somehow

Saw where “Dark Brandon” has become a thing for the left no. Kinda ingenious it’s getting turned back around.

Two recently were:

When tRump got covid he couldn’t breathe.
When Dark Brandon got covid he killed an Al Queda leader.

Actions speak louder than golf.

I'm embarrassed that this is happening in the state I live, but not surprised. This is Madison Cawthorn territory in case you didn't know.

So now it looks like the Inflation Reduction Act is about to pass.

So Biden has passed a transportation bill, a gun bill, and now this. That is fairly effective, agree with his policies or not. Trump got nothing passed with his own party.

My first thought was wow, that is a stupid idea.

But after reading more about it, they are clear that the School Resource Officer (SRO) will be the only ones with access. Not teachers, not administrators, not janitors. Just SROs. However, I do have concerns in how they are being stored. If they are in a proper gun safe for similar device, then I would have less concern.

The part that confuses me is this:
Dr. Dorothy Espelage said:
"Just the presence of an SRO increases violence in the schools. There's more arrests of kids."
My questions are why does the presence of an SRO increase violence in schools, how was it measured, and are kids being arrested for no reason or are there other things going on.

The reason that I am not quite as alarmed is because SROs are actual cops with additional training in North Carolina. Almost all of them have similar weapons in their vehicles which is essentially their offices for patrol officers. More so, the rounds that they shoot out of AR-15s are not your typical ball ammo. They have both the armor piercing rounds and a self defense round that is kind of like a hallow point that is designed to start to deform as soon as it leaves the barrel to prevent penetration though walls or doors.

Still just dumb. The SRO can store his own firearms and breaching gear in their car.

And you think they are more secure in his car than a gun safe in a locked room within the school?

And if something goes down in the school, you want the SRO to run out of the school, out to his car, and then back into the school?

I would prefer someone handle the actual gun issue like we've all talked about rather than having more guns in more places. The SRO should have what they need, but schools shouldn't be required to have a mini armory on campus. Secured or not. I think what this all comes down to is some school boards fragile ego is made to be felt more secure because there is a gun nearby. Guns do no equal safety.

Article - Inside the War Between Trump and His Generals

Independence Day Parade

“Look, I don’t want any wounded guys in the parade,” Trump said. “This doesn’t look good for me.” He explained with distaste that at the Bastille Day parade there had been several formations of injured veterans, including wheelchair-bound soldiers who had lost limbs in battle.

Kelly could not believe what he was hearing. “Those are the heroes,” he told Trump. “In our society, there’s only one group of people who are more heroic than they are—and they are buried over in Arlington.” Kelly did not mention that his own son Robert, a lieutenant killed in action in Afghanistan, was among the dead interred there.

“I don’t want them,” Trump repeated. “It doesn’t look good for me.”

Generals

But Trump’s love affair with “my generals” was brief, and in a statement for this article the former President confirmed how much he had soured on them over time. “These were very untalented people and once I realized it, I did not rely on them, I relied on the real generals and admirals within the system,” he said.

It turned out that the generals had rules, standards, and expertise, not blind loyalty. The President’s loud complaint to John Kelly one day was typical: “You fucking generals, why can’t you be like the German generals?”

“Which generals?” Kelly asked.

“The German generals in World War II,” Trump responded.

“You do know that they tried to kill Hitler three times and almost pulled it off?” Kelly said.

But, of course, Trump did not know that. “No, no, no, they were totally loyal to him,” the President replied. In his version of history, the generals of the Third Reich had been completely subservient to Hitler; this was the model he wanted for his military. Kelly told Trump that there were no such American generals,

I actually agree that the solution is likely more trained SRO's. Although, I don't think they would stop any real threats, like Uvalde. I do think SRO's provide a valuable resource to schools if they are used correctly. A solid relationship between a school and the police department helps to make the overall safety of the children better. It may not work that way in every school or city, but generally it is better to have a relationship, than to just scream that you need them when an event happens.

With that said, MORE guns is never the answer. Ever. That logic is the logic of the last 20 years as we have seen an exponential growth of mass murders. Less guns is always the correct context.

My house just got raided by the FBI! I'm so outraged. I know they're not looking for the hookers and blow because I don't have any. Never have.

Just a paragraph I found:

"Those people didn't take issue when the FBI was investigating somebody they considered be a political enemy, Hillary Clinton, in October of 2016," Scarborough said. "Eleven days before the presidential election, then-FBI director James Comey announced he was going to reopen an investigation into emails sent by Hillary Clinton using a private server, over this classified document issue. Kevin McCarthy, at that time, attacked Hillary Clinton for her, quote, 'lack of judgment and disregard for protecting our nation's secrets.' You know, he didn't criticize the FBI. [Sen. Ted] Cruz also railed against Clinton, writing things like, "elected officials should be held accountable for criminal conduct, no matter how high their position."

Sorry I haven't found anything relevant on FauxNews except for stuff like this:

"The raid of MAL is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves," said Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. "Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries? Banana Republic."

Stop hiding the evidence at your house. You always have the party at Bubba's house to be safe. Let his house get raided. I mean it's just a quick drive from Florida, although I hear Atlanta traffic is murder.

With the raid on Trumps house, I am looking forward to seeing what they find. I hope and pray it is enough to prevent him from making another run for the White House.

That and with the increasing pressure from the DNC for Biden to not run again, I ask this:
If Trump and Biden don't go for round 2, who do you think would be the Republican and Democrat nominees?

Republicans? DeSatan - he doesn't have the baggage of tRump, but carries the same extremist RW views.
Dems? That one is tough right now for me, but I doubt it will be Harris.
