and they typically have product on hand so you don't have to wait. It's hard to say no to thin mints when I can pay for them and be eating them seconds later. If I have to wait for them, I can say no because I don't know if I'll be in the mood for thin mints at a later date. Which that's a lie because I can always down a box of thin mints, but I can convince myself it isn't at the time.
Thin Mints are so much better when they are frozen, though.

Started new project today which is essentially

and will amount to nothing more than a waste of time.

But hey I'm getting paid for that.

This month our Downtown Development Agency Principal Shopping District :r: is hosting a contest among 17 different restaurants in town to see who can make the best burger. I'll probably pass on the $42 surf & turf burger :omg: but I can see myself getting nice and fat this month while I try as many as possible. The newspaper has the different offerings listed online and some of them do sound pretty good.

I had one yesterday at my normal Tuesday lunch spot and it was delicious.

I might add some crushed Thin Mints with Bailey's but positively not with stout. Uh-uh, nope.

They've always been very proud they have a PSD

Mint and stout seem as natural a combo as chocolate and stout. Be more adventurous with your alcohol choices.

It all depends. Three thin mints are good. Half a sleeve of then mints start to get medicinal. I'd definitely try it. I'm not a fan of the peanut butter stouts or the pb and j stouts.

Balance is of course a key consideration. In fact, it's one of the reasons I'm reluctant to buy cherry stouts. Sometimes, you can't even taste the cherry and other times it's almost cough syrup...and that's from the same brewery over several years.

Damn it man, summer is not ending. It's still 110 out. My poor phone can't charge in the car because it overheats even if I have the A/C on.

That icky virus is going around here. I'm glad you're recovering.

I'm really happy we had a chance to meet. You saw some good sites around SWPA.

LP-
My cousin and her daughter are in Bar Harbor this week.
She's a retired nurse and daughter is a newly minted PA.
Do you need them to stop by the house and take a look at your knee?
I told them to get a drink at the Thirsty Whale.

So, how much disruption do you think will be caused by the port strike? What products do you think will be hard to get?

Things that must be shipped internationally.
Corn oil? nope
motor oil? nope
Pirelli Tires? yep
Pilsner Urquell? yep

I heard sugar
Maybe, but the US produces, I believe, a vast majority of the sugar we use/need in the domestic sugar beet and sugar cane processing industries and will be shipped domestically by truck/train.

Also...stock up on Olive oil right now.

I like words and use a thesaurus all the time. Spellcheck in the document I'm writing red-lined the word "map" and suggests the word "orthographe". I hate to click "ignore" for such a good word but it won't work here.

I got sucked into watching @Bubba's Falcons play Buccaneers. I turn on the game to see what former Panther, Baker Mayfield was up to. Cousins' record setting performance was impressive, 500+ yds. The game was better than the pumpkin porters that I drink while watching the game.

I've only paid a little attention to the strike, but heard yesterday that one of the issues was not as much money but automation. The union wanted to prevent any automation of jobs. That seems like an unreasonable demand. It would seem like at a certain point not allowing any increase would lead to almost total automation.

This sort of reminds me of the resistance of many of the automotive parts manufacturers (as well as the OEMs themselves) here in Detroit who were originally so reluctant to get into the EV game and even long after it was very apparent that that the days are numbered for the ICE how the unions here still fight against EVs. Yes, there are fewer parts in an EV than in an ICE vehicle but those fewer parts are still going to be > than the eventual 0 ICE parts at some point and they will need to be made somewhere.

Technology will advance. Whether its automation in the manufacturing process or technological advancements in the actual finished products, it will advance. So often, fighting those advancements is just shooting yourself in the foot.

I don't watch the non-Sunday games because I don't want to start watching one I know I'm not going to finish watching...I'm really regretting not watching this one, though.

I am not a happy person at the moment. We are currently in a rental and won't close on our new house until the day before the election. When we moved in we were optimistic because the property owner and done a lot to fix it up after the last tenants moved out. They painted everything, took out all the carpeting and put in new vinyl plank flooring, changed out several fixtures, and did quite a bit to spruce the place up.

What they didn't do however was check the mechanicals. Since we have been there our AC has gone out twice, the second was yesterday. The first was the coil inside the unit and the contractor made (and left) a heck of a mess in the hallway and the attic access. They came out one day, recharged it, and then came back a week later to actually fix it.

Yesterday when I got home from a night meeting, I noticed it was warm in the house (82 degrees warm). I texted and e-mailed our contact at the management company. We picked up sliding screens at the hardware store and put fans in the windows to blow the cooler night air in. This morning we centralized all of those to try to get the house as cool as possible. I was finally able to get a hold of the rental manager this morning only to learn that the AC guy is out of town this weekend, and she needs to get authorization from the property owner before she can contact someone else.

High temp today is expected to be 90...

While I am happy that I don't need to pay for the repair, I am looking forward to getting into my own house so I can have control over situations like this.

Toilet paper aisle was damn near empty at wal mart last night.
It's empty here but I attributed it to that type of stuff being bought to send up the mountains. As bottled water, baby formula, and various cleaning stuff is also missing. Most of the dairy, frozen, and meat case is empty too, but that's because they had to toss the stuff that went bad when the power went out.

Cousins in on waivers in my league - whoever dropped him missed out on 35 fantasy points.

This is a fascinating article about a battle that was fought over 3,000 years ago in what is now northern Germany. The battle occurred during the bronze age, but researchers have found flint arrowheads as well. Wonder what they were fighting about? Probably Us and Them. Some things never change.

Saw this article a week ago or so. Fascinating as I love when history like this comes to light. Plenty of speculation on why. Trade routes? Food supply? Religion? Brutal form of warfare with close contact between enemies. Slashing with edge weapons, blunt force trauma, arrows from longer (but short - these are not carbon graphite straight shafted which considerably opens up the distance and increases accuracy ) and likely fists. I've always thought being an archaeologist digging up sites to learn more about history would be fascinating. Indiana Jones did not plant this thought - I blame National Geographic.

WSU, remember working in the pits at the rifle range? You may commence firing when your DOG target appears....

Like now, wars were likely fought over one of two things:

1. Land
2. Women

Caught between the longing for love
And the struggle for the legal tender
Where the sirens sing and the church bells ring
And the junk man pounds his fender
Where the veterans dream of the fight
Fast asleep at the traffic light
And the children solemnly wait
For the ice cream vendor
Out into the cool of the evening
Strolls the Pretender
He knows that all his hopes and dreams
Begin and end there

I'm not big on flavored beers but every once in a while one nails it. Sin Mint is one of those.

Brings back some memories! I never had to work in the pits after I picked up corporal but this video sort of makes me wish I did!

Also... there's nothing wrong with a little pit love! I may have benefitted from it at some point

I see wood frames? No eye protection from splinters on off-target rounds?

Eye protection? They're lucky to even have some earplugs that aren't the faulty 3M crap!

Honestly though, I never once heard anybody ever request or mention eye protection in the pits and I don't think I ever saw a piece of wood splinter off anywhere. In general, Marines are pretty accurate shots (pit love not whithstanding ;) )so we're not gonna hit the frame!

Actually, every once in a while somebody would hit the frame but I don't recall it happening too often. I also don't ever recall some Marine complaining about eye damage from working in the pits so maybe there's something about the wood they use for the frames in that it's just not likely to splinter in that manner? Or maybe it's possible that the muzzle velocity is enough that it's just going to send the round cleanly through the frame without causing a splinter? Who knows. If somebody misses that badly, they're more likely to be "no impact, no idea" and miss the target completely and it's likely because they aren't zeroed in properly.

Oh it's one of the most sublime beers I've ever had. I think it comes out when Girl Scout Cookies are out, so... February? I'll keep an eye out and maybe I can get ya some.

I went to their taproom today and had a Sin Mint Temptress. OMG I'd forgotten how absolutely fabulous this is!

I didn't see any bottles to go, but it's on tap in the taproom right now!

Frames? One's shot would have to be horribly off to nearly miss the entire target and hit the frame. Remember, these are Marine sharpshooters we're talking about. ;)
