Going to a Friday wedding tomorrow. I feel like people are having more and more weddings on days other than the traditional Saturday.
My son had a Sunday morning brunch reception. The hall rental was only 10% of their normal Saturday evening rental fee.

We're taking the kiddos to Cedar Point this weekend to ride some rides and have some fun. Hopefully we're far enough past Labor Day that the lines are short. I tried to convince my wife that we should take them out of school for the day and go on Friday instead but that suggestion got shot down pretty quickly.

I always think the cat that's afraid of the world is starting to like me as she walks down the hall towards me. Then I realize she just wants me to open the door to my daughter's room.

You may wanna check the weather forecast ...

You may wanna check the weather forecast ...

I've been watching it and it looks like it will still be pretty good.

If you're referring to Hurricane Helene, from the stuff that I've read while it's still very large across it's supposed to fizzle out before it gets up here to the lower Great Lakes. We've had a high pressure system sitting over us for weeks now and it's gotten very dry so I've been looking at the weather forecasts all the time lately looking for rain. We had a bit of rain on Monday or Tuesday and that was the first we've had in nearly a month. My lawn did pretty good at staying nice and green this year... right up until mid-September when it seemed to instantly turn into a brittle brown wasteland.

We last had measurable rain on July 24th....and went until September 22nd before it rained again.

She probably wants you to take them on a random Tuesday instead.

(or maybe not)

But the kids are studying physics!

When my daughters took their physics classes in high school they always had a school trip planned to Cedar Pointe every year. They had to do one assignment while they were there and then could just have fun.

I'm at the age now where I had to make a rule: Can't do a ride that spins on more than one axis at a time. So, a carousel is fine. A ferris wheel is fine. But no zipper. When I was a teen and 20-something, I could handle all that.

Roller coasters are still OK, for now.

By the way, I had to explain to my nephew one time how a merry-go-round is actually faster on the OUTSIDE, not the inside, as it is covering a greater distance in the same amount of time. I don't think he got it and still insists the animals on the inside are faster.

I should have had him do the math, calculating the circumference of each (using a theoretical carousel) and seeing for himself.

I'm perfectly fine with roller coasters, but I can't handle anything that goes in circles and also can't handle the simulator rides that Disney really likes.

I don't like Star Wars at all, but that Star Wars ride really is something else. Just--wow.

Back from a site visit. Due to a large construction zone, large trucks, and big rocks, I now have an appointment to replace my windshield.

Not fun. Since the crack kept growing as I drove, I knew it was a replace versus a repair.

Not cheap, either.

Safelite Repair. Safelite Replace.

Sorry to hear about that Sal.
Insurance will usually cover that at no cost to you. I haven't had to pay for a windshield.

Ugh. Isn't there a work truck you can take?

Nope. Private sector, small office, took the drive because project manager is out for surgery.

Not a big issue in the grand scheme of things, but timing is crap. It happened early on the way there, grew when I hit bumps in the road, and had 8 or more "legs" by the time I got home. Insurance covers most of the cost - I'm paying a small fee (like 10%).

Have an appointment tomorrow to get it replaced and the sensors recalibrated. And I need it for tomorrow night because it's dad's birthday, and we have plans.

Seems like a good idea.

I just got gas at Sheetz there on Saturday. Complete shit show getting out of there. I'm all for it!

It has a traffic light, but not enough room for traffic to stack. I have to go back there to work for a few weeks. Guess what I found out? Bedford Springs has government rates. Bye bye Breezewood.

I was gonna post the SNL Safelite parody commercial but it looks like NBC scrubbed it from the internet after so many complaints from Safelite.

We did Cedar Point this summer when visiting family. The lines were not bad except for one or two of the bigger rides. One ride kept going down for maintenance. We were able to ride everything at least once and a few things twice in a day. It was my first time there, but we liked the park. It was way cheaper than most I've been to.

And you can't beat the setting/location.

This spot on Lake Erie's shore is gorgeous and a good intro to the beauty of the Great Lakes.

The school district I went to for k-12 was right on a bay on Lake St. Clair and a lot of friend's families had boats. One friend's family had a pretty big cabin cruiser and at the end of the school year each year they'd take a few days and go by boat from Lake St. Clair down to Cedar Point and then back home. A few times he invited me to come along with them but it always conflicted with our own family stuff. That would have been pretty cool to do though.

Yes, but when you say ABSOLUTELY FAVORITE SONG is that including this one too?

There was definitely a time when that was my favorite song!

That entire album (Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia) was fantastic and still gets played a lot by me.

If you are a fan of music documentaries about particular bands, the movie Dig! about The Dandies and the Brian Jonestown Massacre is a great one. The Brian Jonestown Massacre is a great band in their own right and one of the bands I've seen a bunch of times. You never knew if you were gonna get a fantastic live set or something that devolved into chaos.

Here's a selection from a live set that did not take a turn for the worse:

Next stop: B.R.M.C.

There is probably no television characters more beloved by both Canadian and American audiences as the McKenzie Brothers (“Great White North”). Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis came up with these two guys (Bob and Doug) to satisfy and mock the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, (CBC) for wanting more Canadian

content on the SCTV comedy show. Most of the one to two minute segments were improvised and hilariously portrayed Canadian stereotypes like not having enough parking spaces at Tim Horton’s.

Heading out to the Nevada State Chapter APA conference in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks.

My wife says she's not worried: if there is one city on Earth where men will absolutely behave themselves, it's Las Vegas. :)

(As it turns out, a friend I haven't seen since before COVID--who was also my best man at my wedding--will also be in Vegas at the same time, but at the other end of the strip, at a different conference.)

^ I think the most Canadian thing about our family trip to Toronto a few weeks ago was having breakfast at Tim Horton's in the Hockey Hall of Fame one morning!
The joke I make is that Canadian Tire sells everything BUT tires.

Tropicana in Las Vegas going "ka-boom" next week. The wife and I were among the last to set foot in it on its last day of operation back in April. Oddly, they were still giving out players' cards.

I really should frame my players card and cashout voucher and hang it in my office wall.
