Today 4/24/24 is Administrative Professionals Day, in case that might have escaped your itinerary.
 

My cousin is the foster mom for this sweetheart! She's a cuddle bug and enjoys playing with toys. She was found with a pug, so the local pug rescue took her in.

She's not a pug. Her long coat is very soft! If I could, I would take her home with me. But Hubby doesn't want a small dog.

Please spread the word!

That's pretty wild. I grew up a big Redskins fan and remember that night vividly. Back when Monday Night Football actually meant something and was a big event. Fond memories of staying up late and watching MNF with my dad. A few things in the graphic don't exactly align. One game was on a Monday, the other a Sunday. The Skins won in 85 and lost in 18. In 85 the location was actually in D.C. In 2018 it was in Landover, MD.

I know some people (local Bills fans) who did that when the Cowboys hosted the draft. They had a good time. The Bills actually had a fan (superfan Panch Villa, who was suffering from cancer at the time) announce one of the picks.

Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park
Travel 2,341 feet down the shaft to the 27th level of the Soudan Underground Mine to experience one of the most unique tours in not just Minnesota, but in the whole nation. (Some might even say the whole world!) You will journey into the mine on authentic, expertly-maintained hoisting equipment, followed by an underground train ride nearly a mile to the Montana stope, the last working area of the mine.

That sounds awesome. We're looking for a destination for a few days at some point this summer for a not-too-terrible-distance road trip and I'm adding that to the list of possibilities. Gotta check some dates!

One of our bosses had a few tickets to various events he was giving offering to folks earlier this week and I think they were all spoken for within about 40 seconds after he sent out the email. I can see our shared calendars online for our department and there are always a lot of people who take Fridays off but it's definitely a skeleton crew doing actual work tomorrow. :rofl:

A couple friends got tickets to the watch party and offered to get me one but I wasn't really interested at the time. As the draft has gotten closer I'm sort of regretting my decision.

Most mornings I take a walk around downtown Birmingham and it's usually pretty quiet in front of the luxury hotels early in the a.m. M-F but it's been packed on those streets and it looks like the valets are constantly busy. A family friend is a bartender at one of the restaurants here in town and I was talking to him yesterday while waiting to pick up my daughter from an afterschool event and he was saying they've been busier than normal the past couple of weeks with a lot more out-of-towners. If that's what it's like here 15 miles from downtown Detroit, I have to imagine it's getting crazy down there.

For us, it would be about a 13 hour drive. We could make it a loop through the UP one way and Chicago the other. On the way through the UP it would give us a chance to stop at Mt. Arvon in the UP so I could finally make it to Michigan's highest point - a whopping 1,979'!

Ugh. Only for non claustrophobic. Ms fringe and I toured a cave in Yucatan that led to an underground lake whose end had never been charted. An artifact display at lake's beginning had been untouched for 1500 yrs.
We had to crawl through a hole about twenty feet to reach the main grotto. Short of breath and sweaty we were glad to see daylight at tour's end.
 
I question my ability to multi-task my multi-tasking. How many ToDo lists is too many?

It's Friday Homz. ONE to-do list is too many. Flow with the Universe, man! Feel it taking you downstream, and just BE. Your soul had been poured into a body that wants to go home a little early and hug the bodies it spends time with, man! Your to-do list is to multi-love, man! Multi-DO the LOVE, Man! Abide!

It was insane downtown last night. My group actually left early before the Lions even picked so I didn't have to deal with any after event traffic :rofl:

Tonight I have preferred viewing tickets right up next to the draft stage. I'm parking in a surface lot a few blocks south of Greektown on Congress and right near one of the entry points. I'm already dreading the drive home tonight if I end up there late.

I just got off a work call with a guy who has a son who's about 25 or 26 and the draft festivities came up. He said his son and his friends went down yesterday and got to the Campus Martius area around 6:30 p.m. and the police were already shutting the area down because it was so packed so they left and went to a bar in Greektown. They said every bar and restaurant they passed from the time they parked (all the way over at MGM) until they got to wherever they settled in Greektown was just overflowing.

I should have asked him if he asked his son how the drive home was! I hadn't thought about that but it could be pretty crazy. At least I would imagine that it isn't a situation like a football game where everybody is leaving at basically the same time. With the draft, I would think people would be sort of trickling out, but who knows.

I guess I really am from a different time. Yesterday I was driving back home from the island and I see this car with writing on the back window: "She's tying the knot so buy her a shot". And then it had this girl's Venmo info on there so people could send her money.

I would honestly be mortified to be asking strangers for money, especially for a drink! I just can't fathom what would possess someone to do that. I remember being about 22 and my car broke down and feeling so bad about asking if someone could give me a quarter just so I could call a tow truck. Am I really so far out of it that this type of behavior is commonplace?

The whole entitlement with GoFundMe for random stuff, Venmo strangers, and tips for things that never were tipped for before is disturbing
