Old West gunslingers preferred scheduling gunfights at high noon. You might want to bring a sandwich, a black or white cowboy hat, boots, and a side iron in the caliber of your choosing.
It's Arizona, everyone has all of that except the sandwich.

Long random, but made my day:

I went to the club early this morning

I am trying to decide how to decorate my office. I find making an office comfortable difficult.

Details about the Waggoner Building (the building where the explosion was yesterday):
W.T. Waggoner Building: 810 Houston St. - 1919-20; Restored 1985; Hotel conversion 2023
Interior Photographs many of these show the lobby, although they are from prior to the hotel conversion. The first floor was formerly a bank.
I've seen reports that "the first floor concrete is 'pancaked" into the sub-basement'" which would not be good, but someone else on our local architecture forum talked about a similar incident in an old Houston building where the 9th floor pancaked into the 8th which also pancaked all the way down, but the steel structure was still intact enough to restore the building. Hopefully the structure of the Waggoner building is overdesigned enough to overcome this setback.

Here's another article about the incident. The architect quoted in the article, John Roberts, is the founder of our local architecture/planning forum and a friend of mine.

Floating a proposal that, if enacted, would likely make me a hero in the eyes of future local planning directors. Is there a merit badge for that?

Hear me out:

Windows, but all the windows are tilted at random angles between -20 and 20 degrees.
Maybe we could go really far out on a limb and include shutters which could actually cover the windows they are attached to as well. Drives me crazy!

During the mid-70's, Ed Bruce, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings were singing that Mothers shouldn't let there babies grow up to be cowboys. 20 years later, Paula Cole is asking "Where have all the Cowboys gone?" I think we know know the answer.

Comfortable offices lead to people enjoying their visit. This will cause them to come back. May I suggest a few options from around the world. Someone put together a gallery of photos of bureaucrats at their desks.

That's a really neat project. I imagine there is a lot more personal freedom on the job when you are the only person working, your $200/monthly salary hasn't come in months, and no one can call you because you don't have a phone. It's basically a minimalist's dream job.

If I had a dime for every time I made that comment on a development request where they included architectural standards, I would be able to retire. Double that for every time they wanted to argue about it as well. I finally got to the point of saying just remove them all and offer first floor PVC flower boxes instead.

The other is the trim around windows and the placement of the front of the porch in relation to the garage door if it is front loaded. Most of the time it feels like a losing battle because I think they realize they can't charge more for those items and it cuts into their profit margin.

I like the ones from Russia that all have the same tiny copy of Putin's casual senior portrait.

I just spent 3 minutes listening to Hubby whine about not being able to find any black beans in the pantry. I was tempted to go and find them but I resisted, with the help of a weighted blanket, and lo and behold, he found 2 cans of black beans! In the pantry. Where I said they were.

I love my Tundra and it loves gasoline. I bought a 2021 SR5 Trail Edition in Cement a few years ago, specifically because I didn't want the new twin turbo V6 and I think the new front end looks like Hulk Hogan. The 5.7 V8 and Aisin 6 speed is utterly bulletproof. I wish they'd have just bolted the new transmission to the V8. I get around 13 mpg for regular driving, which I don't do much (that's what the 40 mpg VW diesel is for) and around 9-10 towing. That being said, I didn't buy it as a daily or for gas mileage, I bought it to do truck stuff with.

My F150 started out pretty good, averaging about 18mpg on my mostly highway commute. But swtiching jobs to a shorter, city street commute, winter gas formulations, and just a general desire to drive like a prick sometimes and open up my turbos, I am getting 15mpg or so.
But, alas, I did not buy it for the gas mileage.
I did see highway MPG of about 28 one time, fueling on a highway north of Spokane and then hitting a 2 lane road limited to 60 mph, it made sense.
Towing my travel trailer (about 9000lbs loaded) gets me about 7mpg. My old gasser Chevy 2500 got 4mpg towing.

^^^ dont encourage certain Cyburbians to want that maybe with kittens or bunnies

I just switched up from Commanders regalia to Canucks regalia since the NFL season is over.
I am a Redskins fan from way back in the day of Sonny and Billy. My favorite all time player is Riggo. I can't see every having Commanders gear. That said I stopped following religiously probably about 20 years ago. The entire NFL really just has turned me off from being a rabid fan. I'll take college ball any day over the NFL.

High winds here in the Columbia Basin this week, bringing in some very cold air. I hate the wind, I hated it as a kid as well. I realize that it greatly contributes to a neuro-divergent penchant I have for over-stimulation. Of course, weather and atmospheric pressure changes impact us in profound ways, I just seem to feel more of it.

Here's to noise cancelling isolation at work today!

With the dark lord (Bill Belichick) leaving New England, I wonder if this might be something that Harbaugh goes after.

I would laugh given my next door neighbor is not only a fan of that Ohio State, he is also a fan of the NE Patriots.

PC meeting went till 8:00 p.m. last night, and with the storm it took me 2 hours and 30 minutes to drive home. I ate some toast, hugged some people, thanked my daughter for letting me drive her Kia Soul through the muck, and went to bed. Got up and left at 6:20 a.m. to make it on time to the office. Was in my chair again by 7:45.

@Maister, the puppy picture may have saved my life. Thank you. My heart is beating anyway, I'll let you know if my faith in humanity is restored after I eat a cup of soup and sleep in that Kia Soul during my lunch hour. Pins and needles, I know. :)

Too productive - running a load of laudary & dishwasher at the same time while loading car with recycling.

It's a "by the way you're supposed to be in the office" kind of day. Of course I didn't need to be here until 2, but I'm here now.

One of my contacts just fell out of my eye. I must be dehydrated. And I am lazy and don't want to get up and get my glasses. So I will just sit here an squint until Itty Bitty gets home and I can make her do my bidding.

I found a leftover Hershey's kiss in my desk drawer. I was sooooo happy. Then as I unwrapped it over the garbage can, I dropped it. Don't think about whether I retrieved and ate it. I don't want you to think of me eating the kiss that had been in the trash. Trash kiss. Trashy, trashy, trash kiss.

I am behind at work due to being down with the flu. I hate being behind (other than purposeful procrastination).
