I don't get my snow tires until January 19th so I am hoping these storms aren't too bad until then

We get a lot of snow in February and often into March

When I had a Subaru, I just had the all-terrain tires they recommended but I have a Jetta Sedan with a low profile and I feel more comfortable with snow tires

I grew up in Syracuse, your rival snow city lol and my parents did get them

I have a long commute to work through some hills that have their own weather system in the winter so I like being able to not worry

I will say snow removal is much better in Buffalo/Rochester/Syracuse than where I am now - we thought nothing of going out in a blizzard because the roads were constantly being cleared but there is a delay here and it's not as constant

When I was in middle school, I put chains on my school bus because the bus driver didn't know how to. I have a set of chains in the trunk of my '67 mustang. 2 of the 4 spare tires that I had for it, were all terrain tires. When I replace the tires on my truck, I'll go with some mild all terrain tires. I have to contend with mud more than snow/ice in my neck of the woods.

Do those "cable" chains work OK? Asking for a friend who's driving his daughter's KIA Soul back and forth around a mountain range for work right now and starting to worry he's not real smart. :)

Also grew up in Buffalo (well, Cheektowaga) and my parents had snow tires while they were still bias plied tires. When they came out with all-season radials they didn't switch anymore.

I went to college near Albany and on the Greyhound ride home to Buffalo for Christmas break, it seemed the worst snow was always around 'cuse.

Rocky Mountain people do. I believe they're designed now to install and remove more easily so they're more of an occasional thing- only put them on when it's bad.

In northern New England- I grew up driving on all-seasons but once you've had studded snows it's hard to go back.

One of the bus around here has these permanently installed deployable chain system- it's fun to watch.

When NY plows a road they PLOW that sucker. I was holed up in a cabin in the ADKs two winters ago with a 12" overnight snowstorm and when we left that morning (it had stopped snowing mere hours before) the state highway was not only plowed but snow-free and bone dry. VT goes for "safe roads at safe speeds" which really means "good luck."
 
Growing up in Portland metro we’d often go up to Mt. Hood to tube or ski. Generally around Rhododendron you’d have to chain up if it was snowing.

I drive a 2016 F150 and love it. About a month ago, I noticed the gauges would flutter when I started it up. It would only last for a few seconds and then everything would be fine. No other issues, just the fluttering gauges. Last week I noted they flutter for a little longer than before, so I went to google worried that my gauge panel was going bad. Apparently it is an indication of a bad battery. I went to the parts store, had them check it, and it was 1/10 of the CCA that it should be putting out.

So I dropped the $275 and problem fixed.

I have a 2019 and I love it. It has the 2.7 ecoboost with the 10 speed transmission. In the four months that I have had it, I am averaging 19.2 mpg which is significantly better than the 2004 Honda Pilot that it replaced. It's better gas millage than I thought that I would get with mostly in-town trips. I embraced the auto start/stop technology and the 10 speed transmission works great generally; however, at low speeds, It's constantly shifting between the lower gears which is clunky. I manually shift when I am on long dirt roads and leaving events where the traffic is crawing to avoid it.

To be honest, that's the ideal scenario. Nothing more aggravating than trying to start the car on a cold day/night and hearing the click click click because of a dead battery.

I too have a 2019 with the 3.5 ecoboost and the same transmission. My BIL bought the same truck (although in white) one week before me.
HE had had to replace the transmission under warranty due to a shifting issue with 4th gear. Mine kind of does the same every now and then.

My biggest issue is the entertainment system. It needs an update, it no longer auto updates and sometimes it flat out doesnt work. The weird thing is my rearview camera will come on while I am driving down the road. In general, I came from a Ford family and like the truck.... buuut the idea of a Toyota Tundra creeps into my head every now and then.

Also, I will never own another vehicle with black paint.
 
It has felt like three Mondays already, and it's not even 11:00 a.m. yet for me. Also, I don't own an F-150, so that's not going my way either!!!

I only have the 6 speed and it is in silver, so I am ok with it.

It is funny you bring up the entertainment system issue. On occasion, my touch screen will not respond. No big deal unless it is in Apple Car Play Mode. I found out that if you hold down the power and the forward advance button at the same time for 5 seconds, it resets the system. Boom, everything works perfectly after that. I almost ripped out my system and went with an after market until I learned about the reset hack.
