Every once in a while we'll be watching some British show or movie and I'll need subtitles because they're accents are so thick that I miss too much. It's more so a problem in comedies than action/dramas because in most dramatic stuff, things move slow enough that I can keep up easily just based on context but with comedy, especially dialogue-heavy ones, I often miss little things in the jokes because of mumbling or accents so I like to turn them on.

I also have Hulu set to automatically show subtitles for a few moments when I rewind. There are many times I'll be watching a show and they'll make a joke and I hear it alright but don't often believe my ears that they just said that so I like to be able to rewind and confirm that they did indeed go there!

We started Task last night.

Still have the final episode of Black Rabbit to finish.

Saw an article about the upcoming new Stargate show (concept only - no actors, dates, etc). I'll watch that when it comes out.

I'm two episodes into both of these - Task is waaaaaay too slow-paced (and Mark Ruffalo is just annoying in this particular role). Black Rabbit (so far) is really good, but borderline exhausting to watch - I can only handle one episode per night.

This weekend, my wife and I watched Season 2 of A Man on the Inside with Ted Danson on Netflix.

Pretty good. Also, Michael Schur productions really speak to me and I really enjoy his MO of absurdist-ish comedy, related heart and interpersonal interactions and story design/structure.

Brooklyn 99, The Good Place and this show are wonderful and nearly endlessly rewatchable.

I plowed through Season 5 of Slow Horses in record time this weekend. So good! Afterwards, I was reading some reviews of the season online and there were a lot of complaints that it was too slow and not enough action but I thought the previous two seasons had too much action... it was entertaining but those seasons were a bit over the top. Season 5 was a good return to form.

Watching The Chair Company and Lazarus - not sure about either one

I think The Chair Company is next on the list for my wife and I to watch. I love Tim Robinson - Detroiters was fantastic and while I Think You Should Leave is a bit hit or miss the hits are phenomenal and IMO most of the misses are only misses because they're so painful (in a cringe-y, embarrassing way).

Then hold on to your butts as the first episode of The Chair Company is pretty much this.

Yeah.... after watching a couple different trailers for the series it looks like it's going to be one of those shows where we only watch one episode at a time because there's only so much cringing we can handle in one evening.

Have you seen the movie Friendship with Robinson and Paul Rudd? We haven't watched it yet but it's one of those that look entertaining yet painful. Even when Robinson doesn't write the material, he plays that painfully awkward part so well.

Haven't seen Friendship yet, but I've been told exactly how you described it.

I don't know if I want to watch more Robinson stuff. To me its George Costanza and Curb Your Enthusiasm cranked to 11.5. I can only take it in chunks even smaller than you and your wife seem to be able to handle.

That is the perfect description!

I think what makes Robinson so much worse/better than Costanza or Larry David is that his delivery is sooooo dry and detached like he's not in on the jokes that he's making and I mean that in the best way possible.

We watched the first episode of The Chair Company last night and I'm looking forward to watching more but we definitely could only deal with one at a time. Totally unhinged and I have 48 different ideas in my head where this could be going and it could be going in one of those directions, none of those directions, or all of them simultaneously. Nothing would surprise me.

I think its - A weak ego with too much id thinking there is a conspiracy against him, but by complete happenstance and misplaced fixation he stumbles into an actual conspiracy that then puts him/his family in actual danger when he could have just let it go as a weird harmless incident and avoided actual danger completely.

Cautionary tale: Don't go looking for danger, because you might actually find it.

Disclaimer: I have only seen the first episode.

Anyone watching The Studio - it's good cringe, laughs and insanity if you need a break from dystopian nightmare shows or anything

We watched the first 3 episodes of The Studio and enjoyed it. The cringe is strong with that one. We need to go back and see the rest. As far back as MadTV, I've always enjoy Ike Barinholtz - he was great in The Mindy Project. His brother, Jon Barinholtz, looks just like him and was great on Superstore and the short-lived American Auto. Ike and Jon's dad was a successful lawyer and had an acting role as the "Judge" on Jury Duty which was a hoax reality show. I remember reading about the show and thought it sounded sooooo stupid but my wife wanted to watch it so I sat down for the first episode with her and we loved it. It was a fun show.

Finished both Task and Black Rabbit - Task kinda grew on me as the season progressed, ended up enjoying it overall. But, yeah, Black Rabbit...didn't like the way one of the main character's storyline was resolved...hit a little too close to home.

Speaking of Stargate, I finished up Wild Cards on Amazon Prime last night - some of the episodes were directed by Amanda Tapping...

So, we just started watching Game of Thrones for the first time. I was almost reluctant to start watching it because I heard the ending was so outrageously botched. Seems like maybe not worth sitting through six seasons of a show only to ultimately be profoundly disappointed.
When we're done with GoT maybe we'll watch Sopranos for the first time.

I rewatched GOT over the holidays last year and having read the books (well, listened to all the audiobooks) and the disappointment wasn't nearly as bad as it was when I watched the episodes as they were released week-to-week. Even if I hadn't seen it all before, I don't think the disappointment is as bad when you binge-watch it because you don't have 7 days between episodes to build up that anticipation, if that makes any sense.

My biggest takeaway from the rewatch was how bad the production values were through most of the first season. The storyline was there and the acting was good but you can tell by the set designs and costumes and stuff like that that the producers were unsure if there was going to be a 2nd and 3rd season so they didn't want to throw much money at the show yet.

the last 3 episodes are insane and I honestly laughed out loud so stay with it
