TV / movies šŸ“ŗ List your recent and current binge watch (streaming shows) here

Finished season 2 of Only Murders in the Building recently, but haven't felt super fired up to start season 3 just yet. From the reports I've heard, here and elsewhere, subsequent seasons aren't that funny.

following Bad Sisters and Silo - both good!

finished The 3 body problem and Black Dovers on Netflix - really good

Also the next season of The Tower on Brtibox - not as good as other seasons but good

As stated in another thread, I just finished Yellowstone.

Also got around to finally watching Mandalorian 3 recently.

Almost done with Agatha All Along.

Currently watching The Challenge: Battle of the Eras, House of Villains and Surviving Barstool. My reality TV fix!!

Watching a little bit of the in-season Hard Knocks when I can. But no appointment TV.

My oldest son and I started bingeing Star Trek: Lower Decks on Paramount+.

We're on Season 3 and it's a worthy addition to the Star Trek canon. The show, so far, definitely takes place in the Star Trek sacred timeline (aka not the Chris Pine Kirk era movies...not that there is anything wrong with that)

Not a series but single feature, A Complete Unknown, currently showing, is wonderful, if you like this kind of thing.

Season 3 was not that impressive. Personally, I think Murders would have worked best as a one-off miniseries.

I recently remembered/was reminded that Paramount+ also has ST-Discovery, ST-Strange New Worlds and ST-Pickard.

Damn - I may get lost in a Star Trek universe power binge.

I started Lockerbie: The Search for Truth on Peacock last weekend. It is a pretty even-handed telling of the search for answers of one of the victims' parents.

@luckless pedestrian has a Syracuse connection that is more direct than mine, but I interned in NJ at a preservation outfit where the Director was related to/knew several of the Syracuse students on the flight.

I flew Pan Am to Europe the following summer (1990) and the airline was clearly just a shadow of its former self. Boarding the return flight in Brussels, I got pulled out of line for a detailed security check. At that time (pre-9/11), it was unlike anything I had ever experienced traveling in the US. :wow:

Got to do the power binge friday through monday since I was bed ridden sick that entire time, so I got through ST-Discovery to season 3, epi 5.

I don't know. This 3rd season doesn't seem like enough for a full season and I may just skip through some synopsizes to get to the end of the series where it transitions to ST-Strange New Worlds.

Last week my wife and I started The Silo on AppleTV+ and we made it to the first episode of season 2 last night. As far as science fiction/dystopian dramas go, it's pretty good. Apple always seems to have pretty good production values, so that definitely helps things out.

I had never heard of the book series that this is based on but once we finish up this second season, I think I may give the three novels and three short stories a try. I believe Apple is in for four seasons but I don't know if I want to be waiting forever for seasons 3 and 4 (season 2 wraps up in a couple weeks).

Just started this myself, but I'm only through a couple episodes of season 1.

Yes - a large portion of the off-campus Syracuse University students were on that plane - I know someone who lost her whole house on that flight - the university placed her in a dorm because how surreal would that be to rent a house with friends and they all die in a plane crash and there you are

We flew to London soon after that event on vacation and we thought we were slick at the time choosing British Airways over American because at the time of booking, there was a credible threat to American flights and then literally the day of our flight, there were threats being made to British Airways specifically to the UK - I remember sitting on that flight hoping I would lose consciousness quickly if something happened

Also, that was the flight home where I was surrounded by guys with machine guns at Heathrow because I packed my retainer in my carry on and you can imagine that looked pretty sus on the x-ray machine

Luckily I was young at the time and thought it was humorous

Shoutout to folks following Silo and Slow Horses! Both are good - the new season of Silo is moving a little slow but I hope it's to lead up to big stuff in their next and final season

I need a new show so I will look at your postings - looking forward to the new season of Severance that's about to drop

Since you seem to like the stuff from AppleTV (I too am looking forward to the return of Severance) and you like spy stuff like Slow Horses (didn't you watch Black Doves too?), have you watched Tehran, also on AppleTV? It's an Israeli spy drama about a Mossad agent in Iran. It's more dramatic and realistic than, and doesn't have the humor of, Slow Horses or Black Doves but it's really good too. The first two seasons have been available on AppleTV for awhile and the Israeli network that produces the series finished filming and editing season 3 sometime in 2023 but then delayed actually airing it because of the war in Gaza. They finally started airing the season 3 episodes in Israel a few weeks ago and AppleTV has the rights to air season 3 here so I expect that will begin sometime in the next couple months.

Another good spy one, if you haven't seen it, was The Bureau, a french spy thriller, that had 5 seasons. It comes and goes on Amazon Prime, AMC+, and Sundance so I'm not sure if it's currently available or if there is an additional cost associated with it. I just checked now though and our local library has all 5 seasons on DVD and at least seasons 1-4 available to stream through Hoopla, so YMMV.

One last spy thriller worth checking out is The Night Manager on Amazon Prime with Tom Hiddleston as a hotel manager and former soldier who gets recruited into some spy sh!t. The show was based off of a le CarrƩ novel of the same name, so it has some pedigree. There's currently only one season but last year Amazon announced they had begun working on a second season so it's on its way.

My wife and I just finished watching Letterkenny for the third or fourth time. We are now watching Parks and Recreation again. We both work in local government, so it holds a special place in our hearts.

I have a few shows on the docket for future. 2nd half of Yellowstone's last season, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (just me and the kids). We signed up for SlingTV the other day to get ESPN for some bowl games and it has new seasons of How It's Made that aren't on Sci-Go, so that made my day. So far SlingTV is pretty cool.

I loved The Bureau! I might try The Agency on Netflix next?

The Night Manager was also good - The Recruit on Netflix was also good - The Night Agent on Netflix was also good

A one season wonder I really loved was Spy City on Amazon - it's about Germany in the literal moments before the wall went up in Berlin -

I have seen The Agency get a bunch of press lately (I know season 2 just came out) but has mixed reviews. I haven't watched it yet, but it's on "my list".

My wife and I watched The Night Agent on a whim and we both liked that a lot more than we thought we we would. We had The Recruit on our list but then for whatever reason never watched it. IIRC, that one had sort of a sillier premise, at least based on the trailers I remember seeing. Looking it up now, there is a season 2 coming out later this month so maybe we'll give it a try.

I had not heard of Spy City on Amazon but will look into it.

Final episode of Skeleton Crew is tonight in a couple of hours and my mind is melting thinking of what’s going to happen to the kids and At Attin!

I like The Agency but I could only watch a couple of episodes as I don't have Paramount plus

Watching MI5 on Britbox now instead - it's from 2004 but the only thing that feels dated about it is the tech

As a family we've been going back through old sitcoms with the kids. Just finished Home Improvement and started Full House. I didn't care for either show when I was a kid and only found them mildly bearable now.

I'm usually up 2-3 hours later than everyone else in the family. So I've been watching Landman and Dune Prophecy. Both shows have had their moments, but I don't really love either.

When I come home late from a meeting, I catch my husband watching the original Mission Impossible TV show and we like to watch the old Avengers show

Watched several episodes of Land Man. It's not a bad show and it is funny knowing some of the background when it comes to easements and mineral rights and such...

My wife and I started The Recruit over the weekend. We're only a couple episodes in but we're both enjoying it. It's a good mix of humor and action without veering into slapstick.

Don't think less of me than you may already do but I am watching Younger on Netflix - just need something light to balance Severance episodes lol

it's ridiculous in its premise but it's light so it works

We finished season 1 of The Recruit last night. My wife and I both really enjoyed it. I'm glad we happened to watch it just before season 2 drops because now I'm really into it and wouldn't want to wait another year+ for more episodes.

Started watching Squid Game. I am into the second episode and it’s not as compelling as I thought it would be. I’m quite bored with it, actually. The symbols on the masks and on the business card is the one thing that has caught my attention.

It gets better from here in the 1st season at least. Stay with it.

Started The Recruit this weekend and watched the first four episodes. I like it. Reminds me of a not quite as over the top version of the show Chuck with its comedic elements.

I have zero interest in it . . .

I'm on S2E2 and while it's an interesting concept I find myself getting bored. Even with the plots twists.

I got the final season of The Expanse. It reminded me of how great the books and the show really are. They ended it the best way they could. The only thing they left hangings the "dogs" and how they fix things and people. I don't remember them from the books.

I have still never finished the last season. I started on the books last year. I was surprised how true to the first book Season 1 is.
