4. Went out on the lake for most of Sunday. I think I'm still tired from that.
5. Apparently our daughter's boyfriend is buying us dinner on Thursday and paying for golf on Friday to thank us for taking him to Cancun. I like this guy.

3- the rain has made the grass grow very quickly too, I need to mow
4- Mrs. P's last day of work is Friday, but they're talking about extending her for another month
5- the thermostat in our building can be finicky.
I cast aside the pizza cutter in favor of kitchen shears.

Meeting a friend of mine for lunch today but it proved difficult.

1 - Wild Wok (local asian) closed due to kitchen fire last night

5. Mooo

1) Another scorcher outside, freezer in the office.

2) Potential client says they'll sign the contract if we promise to submit to the city tomorrow. Given that they don't have half of the required documents and also balk at providing proof that taxes are paid, kinda think they're not on the up-n-up.

3) Cooked scallops for dinner last night. Yum!

4) Wearing new shoes today. My feet hurt.

5) It's too early to be dealing with the back-to-school morning traffic.

1. I have a cold and don't like it.

3) We got an offer on our house... but it was a super low offer... we didn't take it and they didn't take the counter.
4) Wife's new hospital is a :poop: show. (Or at least that is how she describes it). But she was hired to rebuild the program.
5) It is Taco Tuesday! Might go out for a beer and tacos with a co-worker after a meeting tonight.

1. Getting a recent invite to join the alumni group of my alma mater was so off putting, the landing page had a pic of a famous graduate from my school. That is not an enticement, feels like FOMO. I certainly would like to see more of my fellow grads that happen to work at in the trenches jobs be the feature of that landing page.

2. Been thinking a lot these days about the limitations of master plans.

3. I had an epiphany with the teenager the other day in which we were discussing how to be a better communicator. I think I accidentally told him the secret sauce for good planning: "When you want to ask your parent to drive you and your friends somewhere out of town, it is helpful to think of the outcome you desire and to anticipate the possible reactions that would follow. When trying to anticipate the possible reactions, think of the many questions the parent might follow-up with. For example, maybe there are six unknowns, four of which you feel like you have a good handle on dealing with, but the other two, at least present to the parent that you have thought of those two questions and that you are aware that you don't have answers to them yet and are willing to find workable compromises to at least do something with those two questions."

4. Saw Alien Romulus the other day. I see the online discourse on it is divided. I am with the camp that calls this movie dumb nostalgia-bait. At the same time, the young actor that portrayed the synthetic did a great job, his role was memorable.

5. As a result of seeing Alien Romulus, I rewatched Prometheus and Alien Covenant with the teenager, and wow, watching them again, they are so much better than I remember. There's something going on with the synthetics in these movies that is operating at a higher level than what they are doing with the aliens, it's almost prescient. Ridley Scott rocks!

1. I find we're getting left out of some conversations primarily because we are not in city hall anymore - people assume we know

3- no, it wasn't me or my staff
4- received some good news on a city project that has been in limbo for a bit
5- when mom told us we had to get rid of some of our models, I'd put a firecracker (or more) in the cars and rolled them down the driveway to explode.

1. Move Part 1 went well and after a 2 day drive we are starting our east coast adventure.
2. Was great to see a good chunk of the country I'd only flown over before.
3. Was not great to wake up to a half inch of ice and snow the second day (thanks New Brunswick!).
4. Move Part 2 is still in progress...our stuff will hopefully be here within a week.
5. Moving companies suck.

1) There are so many ideas, concepts, process, procedures, and changes that I want to implement with my new community. But I can't do it all right away due to funding, political, time, staffing, and sanity limitations.
2) Wife and I are planning on a new covered patio with fireplace on the back side of the pool. Wife said to just look into hiring a contractor to do the work instead of spending the time to do it myself.
3) I think that my biggest worry in life is that I won't have enough time to do everything that I want to do. The bucket list is massive and it is surprising how much of it is work related.
4) Today must be the day to get developers worked up. The two biggest in the area wanted the Town to bend the rules to allow them to do what they want to do. Both have burned the Town in the past. One was real quick to threaten a lawsuit. The only thing that I was absolute on was that we would not issue a permit until I found an administrative process to grant them their request.
5) Since it is Taco Tuesday, we are going to a local Mexican restaurant that has a robot servers. The wait staff still takes the orders, but the robot brings the food out to the table and the wait staff just unloads the robots. I hear the robots are going to unionize in fear that the Tesa-Bots are going to take their jobs.

<snip>
5. Moving companies suck.
Moving company truism: your move is only going to be as good as the crew that comes to load and unload your stuff. They all have good crews and they all have bad crews and, in most cases, it is a crapshoot which crew you are going to get. Sounds like we know which crew you got - sorry about that.

The crew who did the load out was actually fine (a bit on the surly side, but very efficient). We just got the "oh, now that we have your stuff that will be an extra $2000 and it won't be delivered until about a week after we said it would" line from the office. Partly on us, we went with the "cheaper" quote given the first company wanted twice what my company is giving me for relocation. I think we are still ahead, just hope all of our stuff shows up and intact.

This bottle of Coke Zero tastes like Diet Dr. Pepper. Not good.

Next week, I'm staying in a hotel that is President Buchanan's boy hood home.

Today is a slow construction day.

I have to work in Eastern PA tomorrow and Thursday. Ugh

My favorite coworker submitted his resignation. I'm sad about my loss and hope he found a better opportunity.
