3. In need of a massage.
4. Too busy to book a massage.
5. Debating emotionally-eating a few pounds of chocolate.

1. Supposed to get over 70 today. It's freakin late FEBRUARY, folks.

5. I so don't need any more financial pressures

1 - overcast & grey today then here comes the rain

3 - set up a new adjustable standing desk for Mrs. P last weekend for her WFH day(s)

5 - we charge 4 phones (work & personal for both of us), 2 watches, 2 ipads & a speaker sometimes - there are cords all over the place.

1. We expect thunderstorms and possible hail this morning.
2. I listen to Dave Ramsey programs while I work. I can't believe the debt some people carry.
3. The firemen must have gone to a firefighter's funeral this morning. They're in dress uniform.
4. A truck that had 3 very bright lights in the center of the grill drove toward me last night. It was annoying and dangerous.
5. I miss having belly laughs. Does my life lack that much fun and humor?

1) Project went sideways due to confusing language in a motion. Hate that.

We figured out how to find you when you became silent around the time of your surgery. Still, you should contact your sister or a close friend every day or so. And answer telephone calls or texts.

1) I am 0 for 2 at the moment on the relocation bid. Both times it was between me and one other person. In once case a few hours from here, I can easily see how they chose the other person. In the one that I learned of last week, I don't know who they hired but something seemed a little off when HR contacted me to give me the bad news. Let's hope the third time is the charm next month with a community that looks like it would be a lot of fun and has their act together.
2) There are three of us in Planning that lost their grandfathers within 10 days of each other.
3) Sometimes the line between important e-mail and marketing spam is hard to navigate.
4) It has been 5 weeks since my last haircut, which is way too long. I am going this afternoon to address that.
5) One of my dress shirts ripped yesterday on the sleave. I contacted them and discovered that it is covered under their 6-month warrantee.

1. Back in a good groove again after a few off weeks.
2. Looks like work travel will be kicking in again soon.
3. Definitely getting an outdoor run in today.
4. Trying not to think about how f***ed up it is that is this warm in February.
5. Eye test today - no issues, no change.

1 - found an original 1912 map of the city rolled up & thrown in a corner of a storage closet - I rescued it & asked our GIS guy to look into preserving it
2 - tonight's council meeting will be long even without the normally verbose councilman
3 - thank goodness the enchilada leftovers are gone
4 - there's a car in the parking lot with 2 tires in the passenger seat & 2 tires in the back seat
5 - glad I'm not in public works - there seems to be a storm brewing over there.

1. Cooled down to a more normal 45 today
2. Steak sounds good. With my favorite steak sauce
3. I can't imagine being offended because of someone putting steak sauce on a steak I grilled
4. Kool Aid was a good deal more important to me when I was 8 years old
5. I'm kind of looking forward to this summer. Kind of.

A1 is one of my favorite condiments, and essential to enjoying steak.

Thoughts that ran through my head between 3am and 5am this morning:

1. What should I be when I grow up?
2. Did Hubby set his alarm?
3. ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWX - is that right? VWX? that doesn't seem right - ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ - i guess it is right
4. GOTOSLEEPGOTOSLEEPGOTOSLEEPGOTOSLEEP
5. Where in the US would I like to live if I had to move back? Does my godmother still have that in-law suite in her house?

1) The report about Millennials becoming the wealthiest generation in history is very interesting, but it did really talk about the further increase in wealth gap. The only people who will inherit anything of value are those who have family that owns something of value.
2) If I win the lottery, I am buying this house.
3) Ten feet of snow is a lot of snow, even for a California Ski Resort. Whereas this is the first winter in recorded history that Raleigh NC has not even had a trace of snow.
4) I did not realize that Thomas Edison planted an elm tree at Washington's Mt. Vernon.
5) De-paving is a great concept. I wish it was something that we could do more of.

1 - deleted the 3000+ emails in the junk folder
2 - this morning has been a hodgepodge of small little things coming up
3 - an old dry cleaner building went up for auction, bids started @ $175,000 dropped down to $60,000 & still no one entered a bid
4 - the cold cold cold wind blew strong this morning
5 - I could go a few m&ms right now, not an entire bag, just a small handful.

1. The problem with M&Ms is if you stop at a small handful, you're never satisfied with that
2. Dogs are nice in general
3. General VonRundstedt was a German field marshal in WW2
4. We have caught three mice recently using traps in the basement
5. Junior has minor hand surgery this afternoon.

1. Trying to ward off an anxiety attack.
2. Made a list but that just made things worse.
3. Not enough energy for the barely enough hours in the day.
4. Itty Bitty gave me two Reese's Peanut Butter cups (so she could have 2).
5. I love my dog but he drives me crazy because he eats anything he possibly can, including bird seed and suet, even though he is more than well-fed.

1. Budget season thus far has been a challenge to put it nicely.
2. Not because of funds but because of lack of focus and urgency by several department heads
3. I hate change orders
4. I really hate paying for the change itself AND the "privilege" of making said change to the tune of $250
5. Leaders need to recognize that often the employees closest to the problem may have the best solution

3. General VonRundstedt was a German field marshal in WW2
Nevermind GIF

1) Finished a report but the client's not going to like the findings.

2) I'm feeling stressed/anxious today. I don't have any meetings, etc today so I don't know the reason.

3) March Madness!! :basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball:

4) Got our lodgings for our trip booked/confirmed. A couple days before the cruise leaves, and a couple of days at the end.

5) I've been voluntold to do some cold calling. I hate cold calling. :grimace:

I'll respond to what I'm guessing you didn't say....field marshals in the German army were considered general grade officers, in much the same way as the top rank in the British army is Field Marshal. In other words, everything above Brigadier is considered a general-grade officer.

4 - having to finish up buying a few things for the building with a few dollars left in the budget

2. The Moon and Sixpence, W S Maugham - not started
3. Don Quixote, Cervantes (perennial fav)
4. Homer and His Iliad, Robin Lane Fox - history and speculation
5. The Goldfinch, Tartt - literally not listenable because of too much whingeing about the guy's relationship with his mom
bonus: Anabasis - librevox recording so every chapter is someone different reading and it's sort of hard to follow

1 - light office staff this week as 2 people are out on vacay & a 3rd person has HVAC issues at home
2 - I'm all alone in the office this afternoon & I want to take the phone off the hook

2. Forecast Afternoon Storms - Tornado Watch
3. have a weather radio
4. no longer a EMA volunteer to do damage assessment
5. glad I walked 1 mile already

1. Rough day parenting.
2. Rough day being a child of older parents.
3. Stood up for myself and my beliefs.
4. Have mostly refrained from emotionally eating.

1) Did not get home from my night meeting until almost 11 last night. Went right to bed but tossed and turned until 1 am. It was one of those high-stress, adrenaline filled meetings, but at least my presentation went well. Those who were there are zombies today. I already set our Senior Planner home.
2) A good friend of mine who is an attorney and knows I am looking for other, better, options than where I am at now, sent me several manager job postings. However I want to continue to be a planner for a while longer and feel that I am just now getting into my stride... if I can get with the right community that is.
3) Locals are all excited that both the Men's and Women's teams are in the final four. Our Main Street Director will be in the stands for the Men's game on Saturday.
4) Wife went to buy a different vehicle the other day, but the rates had gone up .75% since she started looking two weeks ago and she decided it wasn't worth it. She is waiting until they drop back down and then she will move forward. Her current car is a Honda Accord Sport, but people get car sick in the back because it rides like a sports car. So now she is looking at a Palisade or Telluride.
5) This has been my computer desktop picture for quite some time now. It is a photo I took during a day trip to Chicago about 12 years ago. Regardless of who owns the tower in the distance, I loved the juxtaposition of the historic architecture, the vista lines created by the tracks, and the different materials and textures along the way. However, I think it might be time for something new.

1- the first rule of fight club is to not mention the planning commission meeting - we had an altercation in the lobby during public comments last night
2 - police were called & communications said they saw it unfold on the city hall cameras
3 - tonight is the city council meeting, which won't be dull, but I doubt there will something similar to last night
4 - The Girl is sending out announcements for her upcoming graduation so I guess its real
5 - just like yesterday, its getting dark outside, street lights popped on but its rain today instead of the eclipse.

p.s. looking forward to seeing old friends on Sunday night

4 - The Girl is sending out announcements for her upcoming graduation so I guess its real
That can't be possible!!

1. Cut my hair.
2. Trying to figure out spring break for 2025.
3. Trying to decide if worth convincing Hubby that we need some kittens.
4. Stracciatella is my new favorite gelato flavor.
5. My dog has a favorite mushroom.

1 - getting ready to wear that dirndl dress now?
2 - you just got back from your 2024 spring break
3 - just get a couple & says they're strays you had to feed
4 - interesting
5 - are they dried and in a baggie?

1. May not get the chance to wear the drindl now due to scheduling issues.
2. You're right! I should be planning our 2026 spring break. I'm behind schedule.
3. I like the way you think!
4. That's me!
5. Squeaky and dirty.

1) WFH on Eclipse Day, so today in the office feels like a Monday.

2) Getting dark and hail's a-comin'. Might be a bad drive home.

3) Corporate honchos in the office tomorrow. Fun.

4) Someone brought cookies to the office. I had one, and I'm not impressed.

5) My cousin is fostering a dog, and it's really cute. May have to test out Hubby's reaction to her sweet face!

1) Wife and 2 of the three kids are going to the AJR concert tonight. Middle son and I are going to dinner at a steak house instead.
2) Very stressful night meeting last night = super poor sleep = long Tuesday.
3) Finding the right fit in terms of what will work for both the wife and I for relocating is proving to be difficult.
4) I work computer has crashed on me twice in the past two weeks. IT has looked at it and cannot find why it is doing it.
5) We have an urban activist who got inspired by watching the Not Just Bikes YouTube page that will present opposition to every development at public hearing because they are not mixed-use mid-rise urban style buildings.

1. Woke up 5:15.
2. Got to dr. appointment by 8.
3. Left dr. appointment at 8:05 when they informed me they couldn't take my insurance and it would cost me up to 5k out of pocket for the procedure.
4. 8:25 emotionally ate a cinnamon roll.
5. 9:30 back home to work remotely for the day.

1) Rainy morning, but sunny now!

2) Stiff and sore from overdoing it in the flowerbeds and also not stretching before a long walk.

3) Client is crazy - wants hourly updates. Really? Like that's going to happen. Daily just isn't good enough. In fact, she wants me to go down to the office every day. But the office is 4.5 hours away. And they don't want to pay expenses. So I no go to that office, just call.

4) I have a ringing in my ears that comes and goes. I wish it would leave and not come back.

5) I want some ice cream.

1. I suppose today was productive. I suppose.
2. Frozen Jack's pizza for lunch was a mistake. I knew it at lunch time even
3. Wish I didn't have such long hours
4. Just a few more years
5. Ice cream sounds good

1) It has been in the upper 80's, Sunny, and Humid - and we are loving it in our household.
2) Instead of cooking Tacos, we are walking to our Mexican restaurant tonight. $2 tacos and discounted margaritas! - We will stop for ice cream on the way back.
3) My oldest pointed out all the stuff the wife's new car has that my Truck does not. I informed him that I am ok with that. I am sure he was trying to get me to buy a new truck so he could inherit mine when he gets his license.
4) We have a design group that goes through the process to get vested rights and then sells the projects to others to actually develop the site. They have given my staff a lot of grief through the process to lessen the amount of work the developer has to do. However they now ran into an access issue that we told them about early in the process.
5) We have a staff outing that the elected officials are not invited to. However we only have 50% of those who would normally go signed up because they think that several of them will crash it even though they are not invited.

1-Well at least we didn't have an 18' alligator blocking the runway at a Florida Air Force base this morning, we only had a waterline break
2-"To Alcohol! The Cause of... and Solution to... All of Life's Problems." Homer Simpson
3-This week feels like the calm before a storm type of week so far

2. Mmmm hamburgers
3. It's been decades since I watched an Archie cartoon (which featured both shakes and hamburgers)
4. Feeling like I'm stuck between gears today
5. Maybe I'm just double clutching
