Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Tuesday

1) Trying to get stuff done knowing I'm out Thursday and Friday
2) Not as freaked out as yesterday, but wait until tomorrow!
3) Hubby is trying out a new configuration of our entertainment unit - lots of cords while he stews/plays
4) I'm bored.
5) I want something sweet, but the logical part of my brain says no.
 
1) 28 days (27 days and a bunch of hours) until we turn the key on our new house and call it ours.
2) Do you think that Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton have a 'real' marriage or do you think they are just married in name only and go out and do their own things?
3) I am so exhausted right now, I just want to take a nap.... until breakfast time. But nope, I have meetings this afternoon and tonight.
4) The industry says that front loading washing machines are better, but I am not too sure. We had both and I think our top loader does a better job.
5) Trump's daughter is actually quite impressive. Not just in looks either. She did an interview and she sounded better than both Donald and Hillary.
 
1. 7:50 a.m. and the phone is already ringing. Not an encouraging sign
2. At least the temp was pleasant during the morning commute
3. Today I predict, will be a typical day at work
4. I have the feeling something historical, momentous, and earth shattering is going to occur in the next month or two
5. What do you value in life? adventure? happiness? knowledge?
 
1. I'm pretty content at this point of my life - I value being contented.
2. I love stopping by the pretzel shop and using the back door, where they sell pretzels right out of the oven.
3. Two road trips this week - one for business, one for pleasure.
4. I'll need driving time alone after the business trip.
5. One of my coworkers is a mini me, and it's intriguing to me that we can be so alike and have only known each other for a short while.
 
1) Watched "I'm Not Your Guru" over the weekend. It was much better than I thought it would be.
2) I am trying to revamp my morning routine. It is not going well.
3) I have a crap load of night meetings this month.
4) Oh, look, my to-do list is long again.
5) A major grocery store is going in downtown of the major city near me. I wish they would open up one close to my new house too.
 
  1. A network switch went out at work on Friday which left half of City Hall without network access and telephones.
  2. The wireless connections worked but my computer doesn't have that capability but I discovered some work arounds on my Ipad.
  3. Thanks to our IT staff, our dinosaur of a network was revived and is working.
  4. My oldest daughter started her first job yesterday at a fast food restaurant.
  5. When I picked her up yesterday at work, she said that it used to be her favorite place to eat.
 
1) Procedure went well in the aerial view, but the street view is a different story
2) Having to deal with the oozy yucky aftermath makes my head spin and stomach turn every time
3) Wish I could get past this stage and get healed
4) This year I'm not watching either party's convention coverage - just catching highlights
5) This is the first year that I fear my poli sci soul will die
 
1. A home improvement project that Mrs. P participates in takes 4 times longer to complete
2. I asked the finance lady which grant (city or state) she was asking about on a project, she answered "the standard one" :r:
3. I'm taking tomorrow off to pick up The Girl from camp
4. Planning Commission meeting tonight. There's only one item and one informational piece, but I'm afraid they'll want to chat for awhile
5. I about threw something at an engineering consultant that talked to me like I was in 6th grade :-@
 
1. This morning is foggy. I like foggy mornings.
2. I have a pork shoulder smoking in the grill. Between it and the wood-fired pizza shop, this part of town is going to smell pretty good.
3. Some days, I miss my stay-at-home mom life.
4. I'm glad I have a job that I love.
5. I took a nice road trip over the weekend.
 
1) The toe doesn't hurt, but I don't know if it's healing nicely
2) Hubby's frat brother is staying with us later this week
3) Frat brother was able to attend this conference because he had a free place to stay - even the private sector is keeping costs down
4) Temps in the triple digits again - the high pressure dome keeps us cooking
5) I really wish this was Five Things Friday
 
1. read on FB that an old Marine Corps buddy is taking a trip to his old stomping grounds in New England. Last time he took a trip he stopped by our place unannounced expecting to stay several days :-{
2. I had peanut butter toast for breakfast today
3. Too many inspections to do today
4. Oh look, a new telephone on my desk
5. I wonder what will happened to all the compasses/navigation systems once earth's polarity reverses.
 
5. the dept heads had a 2.5 hour webinar of new NC legislation yesterday morning - that's right a Monday morning & there was one caught dozing off (not me)
4. had lunch with The Girl today, but really went home to make sure she was awake and started her chores

2. trying to decide if I want to take my car to track day at a nearby racetrack - I like spirited twisty road runs more than go fast oval, but a friend is trying to talk me into it
1. this is our normal family vacation week, but it's not happening this year - maybe in Oct or Nov
 
5. the dept heads had a 2.5 hour webinar of new NC legislation yesterday morning - that's right a Monday morning & there was one caught dozing off (not me)

1) The webinar referenced was boring... still not sure how I feel about mulching operations. I skipped quite a bit of the early stuff.
2) Two weeks from today... 13 days 20 hours (ish) until I pull out a blue pen and sign for the house.
3) My youngest was not happy that I left him at daycare this morning. (day 2)
4) Middle son had a bad dream and crawled into bed with us for a little while last night. After an hour or so, we put him back in his own bed.
5) I think if I watch the olympics, I will need to do so with a beer and a full plate of hot wings in front of me.
 
1. My coworker grew up in Pittsburgh, and resents it when people from the suburbs say that they're from Pittsburgh. Yet, I have to tell him where to turn when we drive around Pittsburgh.
2. There's an ice cream food truck in the office lot today. An ice cream food truck is a lot different from an ice cream truck.
3. Food trucks are cool, but the food can be pricey.
4. More than half of the coworkers are out of the office, and it's so pleasant here.
5. The weekend seems to be so far off.
 
1. Vacation starts after night meeting on Thursday.
2. Have so much to do between now and then personally and professionally.
3. It's hard when work friends leave for better opportunities.
4. It's also hard when co-workers go on maternity leave.
5. I'm so screwed!

1. mad anxiety around going to this art opening later and seeing people I dont wanna see from College
2. Mad social anxiety for the same reasons about attending two workshops on Urban "Degrowth" and Transport Mobility at the World Social Forum on friday.
3. Hoping things work out with this girl, shes cute and very smart. grad student at Universite de Montreal.
4. My anxiety is in one of those rare bouts where it is still off the charts despite the meds I am perscribed. It happens 2-3 times a year.
5. Listening to the Joshua Tree in a fetal position helps make it better.
 
1. The dog has an ear infection so off to the vet he goes
2. Donated & delivered a large number of books to the library for their book sale
3. Humidity level has to be 103%
4. ACM called me about a rumor of a business closing, which I confirmed was not a rumor - he was not happy
5. It's a great day for something
 
1) Another staff meeting over lunch - we're still working on setting goals, action plans, etc
2) Now I know what it means to be the school planner after a school bond passes 8-!
3) Committed to building a house!
4) Lots of whispering going on in the office the last couple of days
5) I think the guy who wants to leave is going to be leaving sooner rather than later - but the whispers could also be more reorg stuff
 
1. The Girl starts back to school on Monday - I can't wait to get back to a "routine"
2. I've not been very active today
3. 16 days until vacation
4. I hate it when you reach into the frig, grab the milk, open the lid and quickly realize it's bad
5. That's not as bad as taking a drink of said milk and the realize its bad
 
1. I now have one in pre-k, one in kinder, and one in fifth.
2. I didn't cry this morning in the first day of school.
3. I didn't cry because I "couldn't find parking" and "took one for the team" by circling the neighborhood so my husband got to walk them in.
4. Trying to learn not to take dumbf**kery personal is harder than I imagined. Much harder.
5. My foot is healed enough I'm going to try to go for a jog tonight. There is nerve damage but I won't figure out how it feels until I get out there.

  1. I had my first conversation with the "new" lady in the office that is less than 10 feet away from my office, she's been here three months.
  2. I usually wait till the six month mark because that position historically has a high turn over rate.
  3. I apologized in advance for anything offensive that I may say then and in the future.
  4. It's easier that way.
  5. I really need a waiver form.

1. I dropped my wallet in a downtown parking lot on Saturday night and didn't realize it until an hour later.
2. After going through all the preventative credit actions and visiting the DMV and such, my wallet was returned to me completely intact and with all its contents yesterday evening.
3. I was so happy I hugged the couple that returned it. Now I'll have a spare driver's license but oh well.
4. Also today I got an unexpectedly free latte AND I didn't get a parking ticket when I was completely expecting one (forgot to move my car out of a 75-minute parking spot until I was 2 hours overdue).
5. Maybe I should play the lottery this evening. :p
 
1) Didn't sleep well last night so I have a headache.
2) Long day with P&Z at the end.
3) I am so busy I don't know where to start.
4) There's no end in sight.

1) I was going to mow the lawn tonight. Mother nature might have other ideas.
2) Apparently Trump did release his tax returns. However, they were e-mailed to Hillary.
3) My energy level has been a little low and my ADD has been a bit on the high side lately. Perhaps it is time to get back into the gym.
4) I am debating if I should get a new sound system for the tv or not. Trying to decide between a 5.1 soundbar system or using my surround sound speakers and getting a new receiver unit.
5) I ordered a few new books that I am looking forward to.
 
1) Manning the table at College Fair tonight!
2) Had a little training session on our new mapping program - and found a couple bugs just while "testing it out".
3) Been tired lately - maybe because I'm staying up too late reading.
4) Started on some holiday gifts - I'm making several and don't want to rush them.
5) Been putting in a lot of extra hours at work, and I still don't see the end of the tunnel.
 
1. Starting a gym routine as we head into the holiday season seems a bit self-defeating.

5. I was able to score pink socks for The Girl's soccer team for $1 each - they wanted them for Pinktober

1) I cleaned up my e-mails. Found I still had access to an old account that had e-mails from before I met my wife. It was odd reading some of those.
2) People are starting to get worked up about the storm this weekend. I wonder if it will actually hit.
3) I am going to be out for a few days to take care of some stuff... so I won't be posting on here until next week.
4) I have no idea what I want to do for lunch.
5) I slept like a rock last night, but now I am tired.

4. I just talked to an engineer that I knew 20 years ago in another job I had.
5. Another coworker is bicycling from here to DC this week. I'm envious, but wouldn't want to camp the entire way there.

2) City Council tonight - we're getting notice for an award :)
3) The tech(s) busted notice for next week's meeting :(
4) Have to renotice for another meeting - already had several scheduled for that night
