Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Tuesday

1. I wish we had a Department Cat or Department Puppy to act as a 'therapy animal'
2. Two slices of pizza for lunch. I can afford the cholesterol
3. The buttons on this calculator are broken
4. Last night's meeting was a barn burner at times
5. Junior has lined up two walking dogs after school gigs and is set to earn $20/week. Not bad for an 11 yr old
 
1. I always enjoy eating at our local BBQ dive
2. This place never ceases to amaze me sometimes - today's example is I ask for something obscure for a project & it's pulled out of a cabinet
3. ALCS should be a good one
4. Our yard is filled with acorns & we need to get those up before the leaves start falling
5. I think tomorrow will be a great day (at least I hope so)






At the former place of employment, we have a department cat. Lived outside, came in occasionally, & the girls in the office fed him. He was a good one.
 
1. My boss was on board for an office cat, but the building management isn't. Pittsburgh Zoo got one after a child died during a visit, but I guess you can have animals in your office if you're THE ZOO.
2. I was off yesterday, and worked from home today, so this could feel like a three-day week.
3. I have dinner with one of my bicycling groups tonight, and won't see them again until April. I'll miss this group.
4. The leaves here are finally beginning to change color, which goes well with the frost I scraped off of the car windows this morning. :-|
5. I turned on the furnace and let it run twice this morning. I'll miss warm outside air and open windows.
 
1) Last night I had a dream that we were invaded by aliens... but then they turned out to be Russians.
2) As much as I am looking forward to the election being over, I am not looking forward to a Hillary presidency.
3) John Wooden once said that to treat everyone equal is a disservice and that we should treat people based on their actions and character.
4) Since I have not been feeling good lately, my wife took our oldest to cub scouts last night. She said that they got to see a rocket take off. Until this morning I thought they were talking about a model rocket, but apparently we could see the one from VA take off here.
5) There are three books that I am very eager to get into, but time the next few weeks is a resource that I don't have.

4) Hoping I didn't come across too harsh on certain topics - my supervisor is great but other top-levelers need lessons in equity and consistency

An animal refuge up north took in a youngish bear cub. They put out a call for acorns, berries, and honey. :) People responded and the cub is doing much better. Yay for good people!
 
1. It's picture day, and we went down the street to take tourist-y photos with the Point and fountain behind us.
2. A taco business is in the lobby for lunch.
3. It's downright balmy outside and I love it.
4. A pencil point pushed through my bag and stabbed my leg.
5. The past weekend was fun.
 
1. I really don't like doing staff evaluations - even if its not too bad
2. I've been blamed for something here and everyone knows it wasn't me, but nobody will tell the person it involved - I'm okay with that too
3. One of the village idiots came by today to voice his opinion on our project downtown - I laughed where he left
4. A bear or deer can come in the yard anytime to eat those acorns - they hurt when they fall and hit you
5. The Girl washed my car Sunday - I'll give her a C+ on the job
 
1. We carved pumpkins with our friends this weekend. They turned out rather well.
2. The Girl has a dentist appt today, but Mrs. P is taking her this time.
3. A comment received from our recent project "We need more cute Instagram places"
4. It sure is dry here. It seemed like more dust than grass when I mowed the lawn yesterday evening.
5. I voted yesterday to avoid the projected long lines on Election Day. I still may wander by just to see if there is any chaos.
 
1) Is it really only 10am? I feel like I've been here all day already!
2) Working on reports - always a joy. At least these are straight forward and not too messy.
3) Had a great weekend, and am still tired.

Since I'm not supposed to post in the political thread......
1. I voted on my way to work
2. The voting precent was the busiest I've ever seen
3. Went pretty smoothly all things considered
4. No one was trying voting intimidation
5. Then again, given my build, few would try it

3. A coworker got very mad at me for a practical joke I pulled yesterday

1) It is days like this that I really question some of my past choices.
2) I really would love to liquidate everything, buy a sail boat, and float around.

1) We just finished interviews for our Planner position. I'm afraid the PD's former intern will get the offer regardless of the fact that other applicants are more experienced and seem to have a better personality fit.
2) The interviews this week are just from the first batch of applicants. What about the others that have come in since then? The position is still open.
3) Day 4 of grey skies and rain.
4) I'm very tired today. Didn't sleep well at all last night - every little noise woke me up.
5) I think I'm going to avoid watching TV tonight and just wait for the craptacular recap in the morning.

1) My first Code/Director Interpretation! Bring on the heavy vs light equipment uses and specs!
2) Finally admitted that I am behind. We're a person short, and every week we're averaging over 20 NEW submittals. That's on top of all the resubmittals. I am behind, and will likely stay that way for a while.
3) Anyone else ready for the holiday? I could use a couple days off that won't make me feel guilty for not working (and trying to not be so far behind).
4) It's in the 80's here this week. In November. The week before Thanksgiving. :-{I should be in sweaters by now!!!:-{
5) Why are applicants turning in such shoddy work this time of year? I've seen a sharp decline in the quality of submittals the last few weeks.
 
1) Starting to see fewer people around the office! School's out all week, so are some of the parents.
2) Weather turned warmer, then it's going to cool down again. I wish it would stabilize so I can figure out what to wear every day.
3) Long to-do list, lots of high priorities, and not enough time to get it all done.
4) Have plans for Black Friday - heading out after lunch to an art bizarre for gifts and good times (bar!)
5) I refuse to come to work over the holiday weekend!
 
1) I'm in hour 3 of a CIP meeting. My 2 items were discussed early in hour 1.
2) I have no idea about Christmas presents for anyone in the family.
3) I need new black (work) shoes.
4) HR director is nodding off in this meeting.
5) Grilled steaks last night & they were perfect.

1. The school bus did not stop this morning to pick up The Girl. It zoomed right past. I can't wait to hear the reason this evening when I get home. She was annoyed about it.
2. The plane that crashed this morning in Colombia was carrying a professional soccer team that was enjoying a fantastic run. Very tragic!
3. I think I want a good digital meat thermometer for Christmas. I need to go look at a couple with Mrs. P
4. Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge are on fire. Literally on fire. Several resorts will have major rebuilding to do.
5. IT RAINED THIS MORNING!
 
1) Had to fast before a blood draw today. Yuck.
2) Will have another needle prick tomorrow with a MRI. Double yuck.
3) Work is so crazy busy that I am no longer stressed about being behind. Being behind is just the way it is around here.

4. My spring work load looks terrifyingly busy

1. I came home from work and found a lighted Christmas tree in the living room.
2. When you live beside the fire department, your street gets plowed and salted first.
