Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Friday

1) March Madness-themed Chili Cook-Off today. Flyer did not say MANDATORY attendance but the CM sure thought it was!

2) I entered my cornbread in the appropriate category, but did not win.:(

3) The chili I liked best did not win, either :(

4) Had an interesting chat with a couple people from other departments while eating - and met a new employee.

5) HR is setting up some phone interviews for Monday.
 
1. Down the rabbit hole with HUD Environmental Record Review regs today.
2. Today is application deadline for CDBG funding. All the towns are scrambling to submit an app.
3. I have to drive down to RT's house tonight. I hadn't expected to do so until Sunday. Thinking of staying the night.
4. Wondering if my hockey team will stay in the fight for a playoff wild card spot.
5. I need a nap.
 
1. My anxiety is trying to rear its ugly head.
2. Major mommy guilt.
3. Concerned about the state of public education in the US.
4. Itty Bitty wants a sibling.
5. Only way she can have one is if we adopt. We can't afford to adopt. :-\:ashamed:
 
1) The grounds crew for my town are AMAZING. The baseball fields look like major league baseball parks and the grass and landscaping around Town buildings is perfect.
2) I have been able to get a ton of work done this week, despite not feeling all that awesome due to seasonal allergies.
3) The more I learn about the health benefits of coffee the more I like the stuff. It is a same that it causes cancer for people who are in California...
4) I am not looking forward to the cold weather coming back next week. They are even talking about snow on Saturday night into Sunday Morning.
5) I have zero idea what I am going to do this weekend. I have a list of projects that I want to work on, but I am not sure if I am going to actually do any of them.
 
1. I'm working a beer championship tomorrow as a judge's steward.
2. No one is working in administration today.
3. Glad I closed my sunroof after lunch today - there's some raindrops falling now.
4. Why is it when you click 'unsubscribe' you don't get "unsubscribed"
5. There's a couple good EPL matches this weekend.
 
1. Something stinks. No wait that's me.
2. People mad that I can't fix roads in other cities that aren't even in my county.
3. Same person wonders why the mayor won't return his call.
4. Someone else mad that they gave the county the wrong info when they built their house and no he needs a $10,000 septic upgrade to meet code.
5. F it I'm going to clown school.
 
1. It's payday.
2. My boss is out today.
3. It's the director's last day, she's been here 14 years.
4. Apparently I am way busier with work than my predecessor which explains a lot of things. :-|
5. My daughters suggested that I take them out to dinner tonight. :)
 
1) Have 3 interviews this afternoon for our open position. Don't know yet if we're going to go with a little experience but longevity questions, or brand-new no experience but has connections in the area.

2) It's my last day in the office.

3) Weather is appropriate for a Friday the 13th.

4) Hubby will be home this weekend. I only saw him for lunch one day last weekend.

5) Our PIO drives me crazy.

1. Went to the home opener for our minor league baseball team last night - nice to back at the ballpark & we won.
2. Was notified of an illegal use in a residential zone by the Fire Marshal - after some background intel, this ain't gonna be fun.
3. It'll be a great evening to grill something tonight - now to figure out what.
4. My scheduled 1 hour long budget meeting yesterday went 2.5 hours - C'mon, I have the smallest department.
5. I wonder what the next 'fidget spinner' fad will be.
 
1. Got up at nearly noon. Cuz REASONS.
2. Made it to a meeting yesterday actually on time. Cuz miracles do happen.
3. I might be figuring out this networking thing. Someday, it might lead to better income.
4. To my shock, [redacted].
5. I got an email invite yesterday to the memorial service for Dave "Water Man" Ross. I don't live anywhere near San Diego anymore. I am up in Washington and the trip here from Fresno was more than 24 hours via train and bus. I had to decline the invite.

Being semi internet famous for having been homeless in San Diego continues to have odd little impacts on my life.
 
1) Survived my first week post-employment. House is cleaner/neater than it's ever been.

2) House is on the market! Had our first showing last evening.

3) Should probably start thinking about applying for jobs in the DFW area, since that's where we're headed.

4) Not sure about going back - I left the area for a reason - but Hubby is way happier, and that's important.

5) Been catching up on my Netflix shows and some crochet projects. I could handle being a housewife, I think . . .
 
the Parallel Parking version

1. It's hilarious to watch people trying to parallel park around these parts.
2. I had to parallel park as part of my drivers license test.
3. The Girl tells me that parallel parking is not required for the test now, but a 3-point turn is.
4. I practiced in a 1971 Mercury station wagon and took the test in a 1977 Toyota Corolla. That was easy.
5. If you try to head straight in, you're screwed dummy!

2. Unfortunately dinner is already made - leftover chicken and zucchini from last night
3. Grilled pork chops sound better
4. If we had grilled pork chops I could sit on my back patio, crack open a couple PBR's and finish that mystery book I started back in February all while grilling
5. You know, we could always have that stoopid chicken and zucchini leftovers tomorrow night

What the heck. My list is so close to this, I’m just taking it.
 
1. Began setting up my own browser on the laptop today, first step in my diabolical plot to become more productive.
2. Blogged, which is sort of pseudoproductive in my world.
3. Did actual paid work related stuff that wasn't actual paid work, which is somewhat productive in my world.
4. I can finally comfortably sit up in a chair for a few hours a day for the first time since I fell just before Christmas.
5. Weird ass dreams. WTF?
 
1. This week started with DOT creating a clusterfu*k & ended with everything worked out.
2. Agendas are going out today & I went from 3 items down to 1.
3. Despite all rain, nothing floated away from the house that I can tell.
4. Met a friend for lunch today at the local bbq place. It was his request and I quickly agreed.
5. The next 2 weekends a completely full due to The Girl's activities.
 
1. Second 6 day work week in a row
2. Fortunately, I get Monday off
3. I am sorry I missed the conference
4. Last minute work related came up
5. Vacation in 4 weeks, hopefully
 
1. Realized just before 10 am that there was a meeting in my calendar scheduled for 10 am. :r:
2. Go to meeting, expecting to be a few minutes late. Walk in the door, there is no one there
3. Get told "Oh, yeah, you aren't on Facebook. Sorry about that. I guess I should have emailed you."
4. Ask multiple variations of the question "So, where online can I find the calendar or where online can I find the information I need so this doesn't happen again?"
5. Listen for 30+ minutes to the backstory on what they are trying to arrange and why it isn't done yet.

1.) I signed up for an aqua bike race in MN; 1.2 mile swim with a 56 mile bike ride. I am pretty good on biking, starting lap swimming today since our pool is now open.
2.) My evaluation is Monday night. Its gonna go a long way towards if I stay in my current job or not.
3.) Warriors in 5 I think.
4.) I love my new Yeti knock off an architecture firm gave me. It beats pens and sticky notes
5.) I still drink a cup of coffee even at 90 degrees.

1) I do not care about the NBA playoffs in any way. I do not think they should get paid what they do. Hockey... now that is a real sport. NBA is a drama with a bunch of bad actors.
2) Even though I am exhausted today, I had a really good workout this morning. I might not be able to move tomorrow.
3) The temp is currently 94 degrees.
4) Things in life have not been awesome recently.

1) Yesterday's exterminator took a pic of our ac unit drain pan while he was in the attic.

2) Now we're dealing with the landlord for a plumber to come out and do some repairs/preventative work.

3) Mostly settled into the new rental.

4) Baseball sized hail a couple of nights ago in the town next door!

5) We had pea to quarter sized here, and good thing both cars were in the garage!

I typically do a 30 mile bike ride on Saturdays, and occasionally lead it. Lucky me, it's not supposed to get to 100 tomorrow (it only got up to 98 today).

1. I did an off-Friday breakfast ride for the first time in forever. I rode my 1966 Raleigh DL-1 Tourist a bit over 12 miles round trip.

3. This friendly guy paid me a visit today. I was just posting to the neighborhood board about him when his owner drove up and took him home.

5. Had a nice mile-and-half walk with the doggos. I think it's getting too hot for them to want longer walks.
