Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Friday

1) I am so looking forward to it being Friday today. Tomorrow I might go see the Stanley Cup with Miniskis, the wife and I going to sign paperwork to build a house on Sunday, Fish for dinner tonight. NO WORK for the next two days! Oh, and it is going to be super cold... for here anyways.
2) The progress that our middle son has made in the past few months is phenominal. I think it will blow my dad and stepmom away when they come down here for Easter. It will be a year since my dad has seen them and 15 months since my stepmom has seen them.
3) I have been asleep before 9pm the past several nights and I have not had a beer since Tuesday. I wonder if there is a correlation?
4) WTF is wrong with people. In the US, 7 police officers have been killed in the line of duty over the last 7 days.
5) I found a old school floppy disk the other day. I wonder what's on it or if I could even find a disk drive to read it.
 
1. The Girl left her iPad at school yesterday & was about in tears because she was not "connected" (guess what, she survived)
2. Too cold to golf this weekend
3. My request for the city to buy a canoe for the Planning Dept. "to investigate the riparian ecosystem and floodplain areas" was denied - after the CM figured out I was kidding, he thought it was funny
4. I wonder if BBC American will continue to run repeats of Clarkson, May, Hammond Top Gear episodes after the new Top Gear begins in May
5. I was born in November, the result of a Valentines evening
 
1. It's snowing. Like heck. It's February
2. Never trust anyone who pronounces February with two r's
3. I will likely have pizza tonight for the first time in several weeks
4. I'm ready for the weekend to get here already
5. picked up a 6 of Bell's porter last night in anticipation of the occasion (but already drained two)
 
1. Need to stop at VS for a valentine's "gift". Who am I kidding? It's for my enjoyment :lmao:
2. The eye of the storm is over, but a nutjob continues to hand out flyers of my "tweets" and leaves them on windshields during council meetings. My Council and superiors are all upset because the man refuses to "black out" supposid bad tweets that have my kid's names in it.
3. Would you like to see the nutjob in action? Yea, click the link. Oh, and he left this beauty for our local rag.
4. Another soccer tournament this weekend. Joy.
5. Co-parenting will be in maximum mode for game #2. Both the ex, the ex's Italian bf, and my gf will all be at the game.
 
1. I kindof like the co-parenting at games thing. It's slightly uncomfortable but really not that bad. But then again, I'm the new wife.
2. My sister has never been to my fair city; I've lived here on and off for 5 years.
3. She's coming this weekend!
4. I'm sick. I kinda just want to watch tv in my pjs all weekend.
5. She just texted. She has started the drive (which means she's stopped at Dunkin in her hometown to get coffee. Yay!
 
1. Valentine's Day weekend. I never had the kids make cards for my wife. I should have done that.
2. I did buy expensive flowers. Which I hope she likes.
3. I do like to reflect at Valentine's Day about how lucky I am. My wife is pretty amazing.
4. I always cook, so that isn't going to be special....
5. My sink is clogged. That kills the mood quick if you smell like clogged sink....
 
1) Had a department lunch outside at a park. Grilled meats, with potluck sides, and dessert. Sunny day, some wind - overall a big plus.
2) Looking forward to chance to sleep in this weekend.
3) Need to buy a V-day card for the hubby.
4) Really want to get a pet.
5) Need a day off from work that isn't the weekend.
 
1. VD weekend! Spread the joy!
2. Wife and I don't do much.
3. She cooks which is something she loves anyway (I love the eating part)
4. I got her some romantic travel coffee cup (kids keep stealing hers), but gave it to her early when she needed some cheering up.
5. I might stop and get some flowers on the way home for something extra.
 
1. The old iPhone is now the new iPod - at least for me
2. I'm not entirely looking forward to this Friday evening
3. My BIL delivered a treadmill to the house yesterday which I knew nothing about. Mrs. P had talked to him about it but hadn't said she wanted it
4. I wish the old house would sell - I don't want to be a landlord
5. Working on a new permitted use chart - what a mess - we still have 'saddleries' & 'trading stamp and redemption stores' listed
 
1) Needed an extra cup of coffee to get going this morning.
2) Will be coming into the office this weekend - just too much random stuff left undone by absent coworkers.
3) Big boss denied me a chance to attend a local AICP-credit event, but offered it to the other two planners in the office. Of the three, I'm the only AICP planner. WTF???
4) MIL is coming next week, staying just a few days.
5) While this isn't a payday, it's still a Friday!!
 
1. My wife works this weekend. It has been nice to have her home the last 3 weekends.
2. So much going on in my life right now. I am not great at keeping track of it all.
3. I get to eat a good lunch. This excites me.
4. I feel like my kids puke for no real reason. Just because. Then they feel fine.
5. Short week, but overall it didn't feel like it.
 
1) All my meetings for the week are done. I am doing a happy dance now!
2) There is not a cloud in the sky right now and it will be nice and warm this weekend.
3) Miniskis was sleeping in the corner of his closet this morning because it was too bright in the rest of his room. It kind of freaked me out because I could not find him to wake him up. I even looked in his closet and was amazed that he could fit in there and he had a suitcase over him.
4) One of these nights, I hope to get a good night sleep. I am not optimistic about the chances though.
5) I am not positive what I want to do for lunch. I have a can of tomato basil soup, but I am not all that hungry.
 
1. It's payday and I think I'm broke already.
2. I think I'll call a couple people and ruin their weekend with some bad news.
3. I feel bad for ruining one guys weekend, he's a nice guy.
4. After I ruin everyone's weekend I'll study for my interviews
5. I'm still hoping something pans out from my two interviews.
 
1. I just learned about what is most likely an unpermitted landfill/dirt waste area; I googled it and it had many good reviews. That could change......
2. It's not payday, and not really Friday, because I'm working tomorrow.
3. I learned to play a G scale on my mandolin; now I have to learn how to play it well.
4. I had to turn down 3 bicycling invitations this weekend.
5. I'm going to see an Elvis impersonator tomorrow night, just for kicks.
 
1. I'm reading Warriors of the Storm.
2. I'm also watching Vikings on the History Channel.
3. My Swedish grandma would be proud.
4. However, I now have a strong desire to go raid something
5. Fortunately, there's not much in the frig.
 
1] I'm RJing today to pick my daughter up after school. I always enjoy time with her.
2] We're going to stop by a fabric store on the way home so she can get resupplied. She's very artistic.
3] No word from the attorney for the divorce. I suppose we're still in discovery, so not surprising.
4] There aren't many houses for sale here right now. Too bad we're not ready to list our place since I think it would sell quickly.
5] Still need to hire an appraiser. Going to be hard to find comps for my house, I think. We'll see soon enough I suppose.

1. Finally got one of my sewing machines back from repair, tonight I will sew all the things.
2. Working on population estimates and I'm beginning to get cross-eyed looking at the numbers.
3. My husband took me to lunch and gave me a new coloring book today, just because.
4. I signed up for a few yoga classes, I'm hoping to find a bit of zen.
5. Last-minute ordered two deli platters for a baby shower tomorrow, thankful the store was willing to still take my order with less than 24 hours notice.
 
1. It's Friday and that means pizza night, except we're having pizza tomorrow night so I'll need to consult the 'What's for dinner' thread
2. Errands today for lunch, which is not very appetizing
3. There is a lady here who might derail several years of work because she wants to add a very heavy handed enforcement section
4. It's all about the Benjamins - working on budget at work & taxes at home
5. There once was a man from Nantucket...
 
1) It's Day 3 of MIL visit, and she hasn't pissed me off yet.
2) No clue about dinner tonight - maybe pizza?
3) Local sandwich place dropped off snack-sized samples. The samples remind me why I don't go there regularly.
4) Nice weather, sunshine, great time to be outdoors.
5) Finally finished one of those office projects that has nothing to do with submittals. Now I'm sure I'll get another one . . .
 
1. You know what they say about good company and good fish after three days....
2. I just dodged a bullet. yes I did.
3. One gets the impression that otterpop likes to chat about the Old West. That's cool.
4. It's both pizza night and date night
5. I could use a haircut but will probably wait another week or two
 
1) Wife and I are not happy with our builder at the moment... the other question is what kind of time delay are we going to look at now that we need to pick out a new lot despite the signed contract.
2) I think I had too many meetings this week.
3) I am too angry to eat, and for those of you who know me, I love food.
4) This morning I was thinking about the speed limits on roads, and how everyone does 5 to 10 miles faster than that.
5) I hope I can find a babysitter for tomorrow.
 
1. If everyone is talking about pizza, I shall too.
2. Its likely that I will try this 'pizza' tonight.
3. Pizza is best with cheese. More cheese, the better.
4. The word pizza looks funny when you look at it too much.
5. I am actually kidding, I probably won't eat pizza tonight.
 
It doesn't happen all that often, but I always enjoy reading ktrems Five Things submissions
 
1. Pretty much every hour of my time this upcoming weekend is already spoken for. Not a big fan of that
2. A good sandwich is in order for lunch to go with the salt & pepper chips I bought last night
3. There are a whole lot of really tasty and creative recipes for potatoes in circulation. That and pasta with chicken recipes. Probably more variants on this than any other recipe in the world.
4. Looks like xc skiing is very likely done for the season
5. That's okay because it means spring is almost here
 
1. It snowed last evening during soccer practice. It didn't stick, but it snowed.
2. I think the PWD & I just saved the city a big headache, but maybe created another (hopefully smaller) by doing so.
3. I have to go buy 2 poster frames after lunch today. We are going to display planning maps. What a concept.
4. It took The Girl 14 days to break the rules with her phone. She had been stretching it over the last 2 days. She will get it back after dinner and chores tonight.
5. No sir, the palm tree is not a native species in this state, particularly in this region of the state.
 
1. Had one of the bumpiest flights of my life last night getting through a squall line about 100 miles west of Atlanta on my way back from Baton Rouge.
2. Hartsfield was a madhouse, but at least I was home and not trying to make a connection.
3. Love me some raw Gulf oysters.
4. The screen on my phone stopped working last night - manged to get it restarted and working this morning, but maybe it's time for a new one.
5. I really want to RJ out this afternoon, but the schedule on my calendar says otherwise.
 
1) I had to take a nap at lunch and now I will get a cup of coffee.
2) My allergies are acting up and I am not having fun.
3) We still don't have a signed contract for our house. The builder's agent is horrible at communication. My goal now is to be in by christmas.
4) I think we will be able to afford an awesome vacation once all the kids are in school and we don't need to pay for childcare anymore.
5) I had to order a new notebook today because my current one is almost full after a few months of use.
 
1. Wings have gotten ridiculously expensive. Over a dollar a wing at some places is just crazy.
2. Thank goodness for "wing nights" at various establishments.
3. It's been a while since I've been so really looking forward to the APA Conference.
4. March Madness should be wild this year. No hands down favorites at all.
5. I genuinely like the people in my department. That's always a huge plus.
 
1. I only hate one of the two appraisers. The one guy is right on the money.
2. I am going to celebrate this weekend. Drink some Pride Wine.
3. I hate that I have coupons. I hate coupons.
4. I am pretty certain that it has been over a year since I have been in a Walmart.
5. I was going to eat Subway for lunch today, but I didn't want to walk in the Walmart.
 
1) I just read a much needed e-mail that I think will help get me out of this strange funk that I have been in.
2) The wife and I decided to order a bunch of those LED night light outlet plates for the new house. We have problems with the kids unplugging their night lights and I rather them not get electrocuted.
3) I have several night meetings next week.
4) I did the math and depending on several variables, there is a decent chance that we could be in our new house before the kids start school.
5) I am looking forward to March Madness not because I am emotionally invested in any one team, (although it would be nice to see MSU win it all), I am looking forward to the brackets. I can't control what happens on the court, but I can pick my bracket.

1. I cant decide which Punk show I want to go to tonight. One at at a DIY Venue in Philly and see my friends band's last show and have a good ol Pennsylvania Party or stay in NY and see a show at a Bar in Brooklyn with some touring bands from Richmond and potentially see a girl I like there.
2. I wonder of NYS has a state building code older than 1951, thats the oldest I've found.
3. Spacemen 3 is a really great band
4. I wonder if JNA ever drank Rheingold or Ballantine beer in the 70s

I have a nice closed-in porch that's going to serve as a fair weather great room/dining room.
No numbers for my list today.
I reluctantly met my mom and sister at Denny's for lunch; Denny's smells like urinal cakes. Thankfully, our table was far from the smell, because I wasn't sure if I'd be able to stay.
I used to have an old, metal glider from the 1930's or '40's. My kids bent it and blamed it on the dog.
I'd like to get some kind of glider for this porch so that I can sleep out here on warm nights.
 
1. I don't have cocktails or mixed drinks very often, but oddly right now I have the urge to drink something with a paper parasol, long straw, and fruit in it. :girlydrink:
2. Junior is getting much better at fencing.

4. I'm really not looking forward to the radio show tomorrow.
5. We need to do some spring cleaning badly
 
1) Forgot to set the alarm this morning - was 30 minutes late getting up.
2) Foggy, misty morning, which makes me want to just crawl back in bed.
3) No big plans this weekend, but want to get out and explore the wildflowers.
4) Trying to herd some cats on a project, and am not feeling like a wrangler today.
5) Is it Happy Hour yet?
 
1) Coffee is my friend. I went to bed at 8:30pm after taking a muscle relaxer and sleep aid, and got up at 6:45am. Although I did wake up when the wife got called into work at 2am. But I am still exhausted.
2) The sun is out today, but there will be rain tomorrow and Sunday. I am actually looking forward to the rain washing everything that is covered in pollen right now.
3) I think I may rearrange my office today, not so much the furniture as much as my filing system and where I keep stuff.
4) I am going to take a nap at lunch... in 2 hours and 20 minutes... but who's counting.
5) Today was payday for me!

That is one thing I will never forget about the Carolinas...walking outside in the springtime to your car that you washed the day before and finding it covered in a 1/8" thick layer of yellow pollen. Wow!:-c

2. After that nap I want to meet up with my friends and celebrate the end of the work week and Mid-Terms by drinking some BUM WINE and blasting Black Sabbath.
3. NYS Dept of Environmental Conservation is the worst at returning calls.
4. My local bagel shop by the office is actually very good.
5. I wish the NYC DOT would return my calls, clients are getting antsy.
 
  1. I went to the dmv to renew a license plate at lunch.
  2. I only had to wait 15 minutes, not bad for lunchtime on Friday.

  5. If there isn't a plannerbeers.com, It wouldn't hurt my feelings if someone took the idea and ran with it.

I've seen it; I've seen it. It's disgusting here in the coastal south!


In other news, these are the plans for my weekend:
1. Paint boy's room
2. Watch SO build closet organizer in boy's room
3. Rearrange boy's room
4. Make recipes with new blender (I know, the excitement!)
5. Rest (if time allows) :(
 
1. I'm getting tired of the phrase "ain't nobody got time for that"
2. I may have drank too much coffee this morning. It's tough sometimes to tell when enough is truly enough
3, I like the name "Gazoo"
4. The importance of manners to society is underrated
5. Not enough time to deal with staff reports AND sign permits today....ain't nobody got time for that

It is for me... so here we go:

1) My dad and stepmom are going to be happy with the weather here. It will be in the upper 70's when they roll into town tomorrow. They drove through a blizzard yesterday.
2) I am going to wait until tomorrow to wash my truck. The layer of pollen is expected to thicken today, but decrease tonight.
3) Over the past few weeks, I watched the entire season of House of Cards. I was not as impressed with this season as I was the last seasons.
4) I hear the Batman V Superman is not so good. Oh well, I didn't see star wars at the theater, I doubt I will see this one.
5) Lunch today is a bag of flavored steamed rice.
