You're all invited. Never mind that its 12 degrees out and there's over a foot of snow on the ground. It's suddenly now sunny and 78 out.
I'm going to start with some barbecued chicken.

What are you all bringing?

I'm sure enough of you will bring the meats so I'm bringing lots of homemade coleslaw and beer.

Slow smoked groundhog from western PA...

In all seriousness, we tend to do an East Carolina BBQ or Grilled Buffalo wings.

What kind of beer? How is the slaw made?

I'm going to wander out to the back garden and pick a few ears of bicolor corn and toss them on the grill. There's plenty of butter and salt and pepper on the table, and those cute little corn holders too.

Some Texas Hummus and Pita Chips!

Oh, and I'll bring some Shiner and St. Arnold's beer for you non-Texan beer drinkers.

Either blend of cabbage & broccoli or just cabbage ?
Creamy or vinegar dressing ?
Just a blend of cabbage with the creamy dressing.

For beer, I usually just bring myself a 12 pack of corona. Everyone else can figure out what they're drinking.

If you want Arizona BBQ, I'll have to bring in the marinated skirt steak

My coleslaw is just a simple cabbage blend with a creamy sauce. Nothing too fancy.

Our barbecue sauce, which we make from scratch, is the best - great for chicken or pork - has horseradish, chili sauce and cider vinegar as the secret ingredients

Served with either a warm German potato salad, a warm French potato salad, or the eggy potato salad with bacon in it
and a big green salad, and good to go

If not a potato salad, we also do a macaroni salad (celery, onion, a can of tuna, and mayo, but first marinated in Italian dressing) or if it's a shoulder season, some rice pilaf

Otherwise, we are more known for cooking lobsters outside and grilling some steaks, and then having simple boiled potatoes with butter and parsley and a big green salad and corn on the cob

I actually have a rib sauce recipe I created myself several years ago. It's a tradition at our annual Superb Owl Party, and I have actually traveled to kitchens in California, British Columbia, Idaho and South Carolina to make it. Invite me to your house, give me a few hours in your kitchen, and I'll make them for you too!
