NEVERENDING ♾️ The NEVERENDING Weather Thread

Western Michigan gets quite a bit of lake effect snow every winter. But I gather that's not the same thing. Here's what NOAA has to say about it:
It's kind of Lake Effect snow, except the winds are out of the north and blowing in a generally counter-clockwise motion southward. By the time they traverse the ~250 miles from the lake to the river, most of the snow has dried up over land, so we don't see anything near 3"/hr, just usually very light, fluffy flurry activity.

We got our first frost this morning and have another frost warning for tomorrow morning. They also say it will be 80 a week from today.

It got pretty cold in Northern Florida, yesterday, with some areas around Tallahassee dropping in the 20s. That would be cold even in January, but mid-October?

After snow last week, it was close to 80 here on Saturday and yesterday and is supposed to get up to the mid-70s here this afternoon. Looking at the 10-day forecast, it looks like we'll be back to our seasonal upper-50s by midweek.

I got up on the roof with the leaf blower to clean the gutters at lunch. It was pretty nice out there. I was very tempted to get out the Christmas lights and start hanging them.

Mid 60s with a steady light rain from the remnants of the hurricane...combine that with the slowness of working on a federal holiday, and it's a sleepy day.

Same here, with a cold front and dropping temps coming.

Calling for about 3 inches of lake effect snow Saturday night. No reason to complain, it is after all mid-November.

33 degrees at sunrise in the ATL this morning, headed up to the mid-50s (tolerable). Low-40s overnight tonight with a bit of rain, then highs in the mid-40s tomorrow with more rain in the afternoon. Bleh.

Got about 9 inches of snow in the last 12 hours. Still, I managed to not shovel the driveway. After all it's supposed to get back up into the 40's next week.

We had a week or so of cold weather before Thanksgiving but it's been in the '40s and low '50s basically since then. It's hard to feel Christmas-y when there's no chance for snow in the long term forecast.

To be fair I think the average temp this time of year is 40 or so.

Looking at historical weather data, the average daily highs in metro Detroit this time of year are in the mid-30s, so yeah, we're not really that far off of our averages. I think what's making it seem so much warmer is that it's not even getting particularly cold at night. Usually by now it should be dipping down into the 20s pretty consistently at night and early morning but that's not happening.

Strava keeps track of the daily temps when I run and looking back at the past few years we actually had relatively cold Decembers so I guess that recency bias is really coming through! I'll enjoy it now because I'm sure once we get to January and February we'll be back to our single-digit temps.

Last December was one of the warmest on record for Toledo, so it probably was for Detroit to. It was the second warmest winter for Ohio and in the Top 10 for Michigan

Snow flurries! :snowflake::snowflake::snowflake:

Temp drop from mid-40's at 8:00am to 21 at 9:15 and it's still dropping. The wind is whipping along, too.

Supposed to be below freezing until sometime Saturday.
