It's kind of Lake Effect snow, except the winds are out of the north and blowing in a generally counter-clockwise motion southward. By the time they traverse the ~250 miles from the lake to the river, most of the snow has dried up over land, so we don't see anything near 3"/hr, just usually very light, fluffy flurry activity.Western Michigan gets quite a bit of lake effect snow every winter. But I gather that's not the same thing. Here's what NOAA has to say about it:
Welcome to the South with it's schizo non summer months weatherWe got our first frost this morning and have another frost warning for tomorrow morning. They also say it will be 80 a week from today.
I've never before had a cat that likes to have its belly rubbed.
Nope. Not at all. It's because I posted in the wrong thread. Is that because of the weather? I mean because otherwise I'm just not seeing the connection to your post and this thread.
Same here, with a cold front and dropping temps coming.Mid 60s with a steady light rain from the remnants of the hurricane...combine that with the slowness of working on a federal holiday, and it's a sleepy day.
That would explain the 14 nonstop years of tornadoes we have had.I hear a cat that like its belly rubbed is a predication of tornados.
Same here. I'm actually getting a little chilly. I don't know if that's a result of age, getting acclimated to here or the weight loss.Cold and grey today. But not raining, like yesterday.
It's winter in, just a bit earlier than usual.
Now it's all snow. The big snow flakes are covering cars and my porch roof.
To be fair I think the average temp this time of year is 40 or so.We had a week or so of cold weather before Thanksgiving but it's been in the '40s and low '50s basically since then. It's hard to feel Christmas-y when there's no chance for snow in the long term forecast.
To be fair I think the average temp this time of year is 40 or so.
Last December was one of the warmest on record for Toledo, so it probably was for Detroit to. It was the second warmest winter for Ohio and in the Top 10 for MichiganStrava keeps track of the daily temps when I run and looking back at the past few years we actually had relatively cold Decembers so I guess that recency bias is really coming through! I'll enjoy it now because I'm sure once we get to January and February we'll be back to our single-digit temps.
Yep I was gonna post this. Same across town.Snow flurries!
Temp drop from mid-40's at 8:00am to 21 at 9:15 and it's still dropping. The wind is whipping along, too.
Supposed to be below freezing until sometime Saturday.
