I know we're all getting Trump fatigue by now, but he just took his January 6 ('be there. It will be wild') invitation/comments and ratcheted it up. Let's see this for the warning that it is.

I keep wondering what might cross the line, but I just can't imagine devout Christians not having an issue with it. Even it wasn't Trump hawking it during Easter, adding the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration, Pledge of Allegiance, and lyrics to God Bless the USA to the bible doesn't sit well. If I believe the Bible is the sole and infallible word of God like many evangelicals are, I don't know that I like them all conflated together. I guess it plays well with growing nationalism or dominionism.

Nothing crosses the line. The growing nationalism is not normal. Politics is becoming a new religion. As the world grows secular, people continue to want to have faith in something. I see people deifying politicians like Trump. They treat him like he is infallible. I'm used to seeing it. I grew up Mormon, and watched people (and was taught to) treat everything that the leader of my church - the Prophet - said as infallible. If he says jump, you don't question you just ask how high. Trump's supporters remind me of that in their comments. They reverence him, and he leans into it. At least I believed the intentions of my old LDS leaders were decent, if not perfect. I see no such scruples in Trump or others like him. They have worshipers now. And they'll use them.

To be clear, I am not talking about Republicans or Conservatives. There are still plenty of them. They don't concern me. They are Mitt Romney and John McCain (RIP) and a host of other reasonable, fiscally and even very socially conservative people that I might disagree with. No issue. Some support Trump. No issue. It's the worship that scares me.

It should be an epic showdown for a dominant pair of Midwestern teams, but Michigan State Rep. Matt Maddock apparently had issues more pressing than college sports in mind when he posted an alarming tweet on Wednesday night.
"Happening right now," Maddock wrote. "Three busses [sic] just loaded up with illegal invaders at Detroit Metro. Anyone have any idea where they're headed with their police escort?" Attached to the tweet were grainy photos of white buses at Detroit's airport and a plane. He tagged Pete Hoekstra, a former representative for Michigan in Congress and Ambassador to the Netherlands under Donald Trump.

No, it’s just dumb. Let me explain.

So, first Donald Trump goes back in time to the time of Jesus’ death? That’s dumb. How is that possible? Why would he do that? And the cloud of yellow confusion over his head? And the super long red tie? The flies? The cartoonist is over-signifying here.

And second, is Donald Trump chewing bubble gum and blowing a bubble, or did the cartoonist give him anal prolapse mouth? If the former, that’s dumb, I have no idea why he’d be chewing gum and blowing a bubble. If the latter, if you are going to assign anal prolapse mouth to your subject, then at least make sure it cannot be confused with blowing a bubble gum bubble.

There’s an art to drawing anal prolapse mouth, and I don’t think Clayton Jones knows how to draw anal prolapse mouth.

I think drawing Donald Trump with just the anal prolapse mouth would be enough signification for the cartoon to be tasteless, if that was the intent.

My problem is that there are still going to be idiots who lose their retirements because they are going to move ALL IN on this meme stock. Trump is already suing the creators of Truth Social, so it seems that it is clear this is going to fail, but those who idolize DJT aren't going to care.

Lots of people are going to lose their retirement on his newest shame to make himself money. This one isn't enjoyable for me to watch honestly.

I no longer give a rat's ass about anything that happens to Trump supporters. I don't cheer for their downfall, but I won't lose any sleep over anything bad that happens to them, either.

Sorry but I kinda bought the dip in the BBBY meme stock thing.. to the moon cost me a good 86% stock return, granted the loss was only in the hundreds of dollars. It was total FOMO, but I limited myself. Usually I am calculated on stocks that i buy which have retuned at times favorable returns (82% return on Lennar, a major homebuilder, particularly in the south), and Mastercard (bought at a low point back in 2016) based on actual, sound investing practices, and sometimes a complete miss (see Rivan, when i FOMO, at $129.48 a share), but have bought the dip, because the sales numbers, while not great, seem to be on an uptick, but my current stock hold has lost 84% of value. For those that go all in and lose their shirts, good... You want to play dumb with your money, I would be happy to cash it out, present you with a gasoline, a match, and watch it burn.
