NEVERENDING ♾️ The NEVERENDING Beer Thread

I miss drinking beer but due to my kidney issue I can't drink for the time being. I'm eagerly awaiting getting into my collection of Michigan beer that's in the fridge.

Antici............pation

Waiting...Waiting...

I have an oatmeal porter that will be ready to bottle in a week -- three weeks after that I'll let you know how it turned out!!!:p

RES

Insert bottle in large zip lock.
Wrap in bubble wrap. Tape.
Place in box away from edges
Pad more than you think.
Shake when done and if you feel any movement....do it again.

If you are really panicked, you can put them in a box and put that box in a slightly larger one with packing material separating the two boxes. Usually overkill.

I'll just leave this here. One of the quirks about living in a college town.

It took me a second to realize what was going on in that picture. Why would you use a decent beer like Sierra Nevada to play beer pong? Beer pong should be played with PBR, Old Milwaukee or if your really classy an American standby from the Bud or Miller family. :D

Is best canned beer an oxymoron? Saw this article on the web today. http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2011/02/24/worlds-best-canned-beer/ I'm more of a consumer than a aficionado, what do y'all think? Had any of the canned beers cited?

Ive had three of the four. The Coconut porter is an amazing beer. never had it in the can only on draft at the tap room. Dales Pale Ale is great, and so is their other ones like Gordon and Gubna. In fact- Gordon is one of my favorite all time beers but It's like 12 bucks a 4 pack where i live.

The bitter american wasn't bad but I'm not a huge fan of 21st amendment.

Just cracked open a Konig Ludwig Weissbier. I haven't even taken a sip, but I know it's going to be good, just from the tart aroma. There's no substitute for a real German hefeweizen.

Thank the beer gods for Fat Tire in a can, or otherwise there wouldn't be any in my upstate New York refrigerator.

I've got three bottles of Thomas Hardy's Ale (2007 batch), one of which I'm going to break open tomorrow. The idea of a beer aging like a fine wine is an appealing notion to many beer connoiseurs

Finally used my gift certificate to the beer store...came away with:

Harp (for last night)
Smuttynose Robust Porter
Warsteiner
Spaten
Weihenstephan
Weihenstephan Weissbier Hefe

Just laid up my orange red ale....

Just bottled my orange/red ale this evening -- should be a nice 5.25% alcohol ale...with orange overtones...we'll see what it's like in 2 weeks...

I am enjoying a Rogue Morimoto Soba (yup, buckwheat) Ale this evening. It hasn't turned out to be my favorite Rogue brew but it was definitely worth the exploration.

Hmm. Haven't seen that one yet in my neck of the woods.

Perusing the local Friar Tuck's they happened to have a beer tasting going on. I tried the Sam Adams Noble Pils. Not bad, even though I'm not big on pilsners.

I ended up picking up some Abita Turbodog and some Three Floyd's Black Sun Stout for a housewarming party last night.

Do you guys think beer served at sporting events is diluted to a lower alcohol content? If so isn't this the most closely-guarded secret of the alcoholic beverage industry?

The only sporting events that serve alcohol that I regularly attend are MLB games and I don't think I've noticed that they water the beer down. However, they do seem to like to let it sit in the sun for a week and a half before serving it.

I am anxiously awaiting Wednesday evening when a friend will be visiting from out of town during league night at the bowling alley and bringing me a case of New Belgium beer!! It will be just in time for me to enjoy them as I fire up the grill for the first time of the season on Friday while I watch the Tiger's home opener.

Yeah I was at a Celtics game last night and had three draft budweisers in succession, all of which tasted watered down without any noticeable alcoholic content. I've always suspected that arena/stadium managers dilute the beer to tame the drunks like they have to do in Ohio with the 3.2% beer. The truth is out there somewhere. 8-!

I think the fact that it was Budweisser could have something to do with it. Not that there is anything wrong with Bud but that many folks these days are much more accustomed to buying craft beers or the like with higher ABV content in them so when you are forced to drink from the limited choices at an arena it makes it seem that much more weak.

One thing I like about going to Tiger games is that besides the swill that the vendors sell in the stands there is a relatively decent selection at a nice "Beer Garden" within the park plus a few random stands in the areas with the food/shopping that have beer from a local brewery with a better ABV content at the same price.

Please refrain from the amusement park rides after enjoying your malt beverages at Tiger Stadium. :)

Old Rasputin. Best. Beer. Evar. one expects complexity when drinking stouts. This one delivers in that in spades. Delightfully balanced. I had two just now and I'm ok with the Universe

Russian River Salvation. Best. Beer. Evar.

Way better than Old Rasputin ;)

I know both of those are among the highest rated beers on Beer Advocate... if you believe in that sort of thing.

Last night at dinner I finished up the last of my Bell's Hopslam of the season. I have a space cleared away now in my fridge for my case of New Belgium products that is due to arrive tomorrow!

I know it's not a big deal for those east of Michigan, but I was able to procure some New Belgium goods today! Thanks to a non-Cyburbian planner friend from Cedar Rapids, Iowa in town for the Tiger's home opener.

If you are coming to the NC Piedmont area...

Saturday, April 16th is set for this year’s Hickory Hops beer festival. Staged on Union Square in downtown Hickory, the 9th annual outdoor beer festival is organized by Hickory Downtown Development Association and hosted by Olde Hickory Brewery. It offers plenty for everyone, from inexperienced beer novices to hardened beer fest veterans anxious for something unusual. Pouring for six hours, beginning at 1:00, live music will be presented, rain or shine. Food is available from downtown restaurants during the festival. Brewers sell t-shirts, pint glasses, mugs and a sundry of other breweriana.

Look for me, I'll be the one with a pint glass in my hand:D

I made it to a Stone Brewing opening party this past weekend to celebrate them coming to my area. There were about 40 taps of every kind of Stone Brewing variety available, including Arrogant Bastard, Double Bastard, and my personal favorite, the Vanilla Bean Smoked Porter.

Many :beers: were drank and good times were had. :win:

Sublimely Self-Righteous is my favorite by them.

A New Shiner?

Went looking for beer at my local organic/all natural grocery store - they tend to have the best selection. Found a beer I thought deserved a post:

a seasonal Shiner made with red grapefruit and ginger

First thought: That sounds pretty good!

Second thought: Grapefruit? Really?

Has anyone heard of this/tried this yet?

Sam Adams Random

While in Boston for the APA Conference a few weeks ago, I took in a tour of the Sam Adams Brewery. It was a much smaller tour compared to the Budweiser tour in STL. The Sam Adams tour was very informative and a lot of fun. Several other planners were enjoying the tour on a Monday afternoon. :D

I brought back two large bottles from Boston, part of the Sam Adams Barrel Room Collection. Last weekend I enjoyed the New World Tripel, a very strong beer weighing in at 10% ABV. It was a very very good beer, with hints of tropical fruit which I assume comes from the strain of yeast. I also have a Sam Adams American Kriek which is supposed to be VERY heavy on the cherries, I will prob. hold off for another month or so, until the heat of summer roars its head. :h:

I'll definitely be celebrating American Craft Beer Week next Sunday on the Craft Beer Pub Crawl in my town. I'll be finishing it here. Can't wait!

Coincidence that American Craft Beer Week starts on my birthday??

I think not.

Will need to dig through the cellar each night this week for something pretty damn special. I know I have some monster stouts down there that probably need to come out before summer anyway.
