The new MLS team played their first real match.

CLT FC played well but lost to a dubious pen, a deflection & a pinball. Also had a goal disallowed for offside & a no call pen.

Not the result we wanted, but it was a promising start.

Russian owner of Chelsea gives ‘stewardship’ of team to their charitable foundation.

Charitable foundation says ‘no so fast’ ...

If you look at EPL ownership they have sold themselves to the devil to be considered the best league. I have to say I prefer the Bundesliga for this reason.

Starting with Sweden, Poland & Czech Rep refusing to play the Russians. Great move.
Then FIFA saying they could play as RFU & without national flag. Cop-out.
Glad they have now said NO.

I do hope that Ukraine will still be able to field a team & base out of another country. Hell, let them train in US. That ought to piss off Putin.
This is like the Olympics letting Russia compete under no flag. It is a cop-out. Glad to see that at least FIFA has the guts to do what is right. I feel for these athletes, but in the end, they live and compete for a country that is now a pariah and they have to be punished as well.

Dubious officiating in a MLS match? Get out...

A depleted Five Stripes side beat Sporting KC 3-1 in their opener, with a shaky backline and Guzan looking awful, and also without Josef scoring. That's a damn good start to the season.

Yes, ole Guz is starting to show his age.

The former Norwich City manager Daniel Farke abruptly left the Russian Premier League side Krasnodar without taking charge of a single match. Good for him.

Seattle beats Leon 3-0 in CCL play. MLS clubs are doing better. Montreal already beat Santos Laguna.

North Macedonia eliminated ITALY from World Cup qualifying. That's' right, North Macedonia!

This is the 2nd time in a row Italy will not reach the World Cup.

Big big win for USA over Panama 5-1. Would be very hard not to make it now. Mexico is under more pressure. Big game for goal differential.

Full World Cup group stage draw confirmed

Group F: Belgium, Croatia, Morocco, Canada

Group G: Brazil, Switzerland, Serbia, Cameroon

Group H: Portugal, Uruguay, South Korea, Ghana

I really don't see a fabled 'Group of Death' but US & England & Scotland or Wales in the same group is something.

Denmark and France, France and Denmark. Can the Roligans never get away from le Coq sportif?

The US Open Cup is on ESPN+ tonight and I will get to see the Des Moines Menace play against Omaha. Fairly rare to see our Iowa team on TV.

They will be moving up to the 2nd tier soon I guess.

That was a good match Sunday. Here's the thing, with seven games to go just one points separates them as City lead Liverpool.
Since the start of the 2018-19 season City have won 339 points to Liverpool’s 338 from 145 games. I think that means they're about as close as close can get.

Liverpool trashed ManU again. This time 4-0!

There was a banner at Anfield that read:

"Imagine Being Us"

Ole Bruce Arena losing it. NE Revs are a major disappointment. It seems to me the margins in MLS are very fine and its one two tweaks person can make teams rise or fall. Look at LAFC. Great again this year, mostly the same team that was not even in playoffs.

I am amazed at how many goals I see now from teams trying to play from the back and making a mistake that gives the other team a quick goal.

If you see a press coming or being played, get the ball to the midfield. Don't paly around with the ball in your own box! Yet, there's another square pass.

Also you'll always have issues if your first touch makes your second touch a 50/50 ball.

The Everton v Chelsea match was very good. Everton needed to eek out that win to have a chance to stay out of relegation. I wonder how Pickford's face feels today?

I am still hoping for Everton to go down. Its funny when big payroll fails.

I had an odd dream last night where I was sitting at a desk with Jurgen Klopp, eating a sandwich and talking tactics.

^^^I wish I was!

City bounced out of Champions League after Real scored 2 in stoppage time & another in extra time.

I would've liked to see another all English (teams) final. Liverpool v Real Madrid should be a very good final though.

1 point separates Man City & Liverpool for the PL Champs with one game to play.

My Aston Villa plays Man City. Villa have really nothing to play for except Big Bad spoiler, which will be a great way to end the season for their manager - ex-Liverpool great Stevie Gerrard. It's even better (if Villa win) that they're playing @ Man City!

Liverpool host Wolves for their last match of league season.

At the other end of the table - Norwich & Watford are already relegated. Waiting to see if Burnley, Leeds or Everton go down too. My hope is Burnley.

Really hoping Everton goes down. Love to see big payroll fails.

Everton just beat Palace (& were down 0-2 but came back). They're safe now.

Burnely in a draw with Villa today (right now) so points are even with Leeds, but goal diff will put Leeds down. Big day Sunday!!!

Burnley down.

Villa had Man City on the ropes then the defense fell asleep for 10 minutes. Lil'Phil's goal however was fantastic.

UK Government approved the sale of Chelsea Football Club to Todd Boehly (owner of the LA Dodgers) for $5.33 billion.

Or is this a baseball story?

Hey @Planit - what the heck is going on with Charlotte FC?

I have no idea. Very short & sweet press release with no details.

Their match in Seattle was okay for 65 minutes. As soon as Seattle scored, CLTFC folded it seemed.

Must have been some bust up on the airplane ride home.

I'll be inquiring with a couple friend season ticket holders.

Seems weird during an expansion season. What did they think they were going to get this year? Must be more to it.

USMNT vs. Morocco tonight at 6:30 CDT. Should be a good challenge. They are no pushover. Who will be at striker? Who will be the other back?
