I had fish and chips for lunch today.

I like to dip my fish into tartar sauce but, if the fish is good quality white fish and nice and flakey, it usually just falls apart and turns into a big mess if I try to eat it with a knife and fork so I always end up using my fingers. I know my wife would give me a look of disgust if I were to do that in front of her. So that begs the question: Is fish and chips a finger food?
I've always been one to use a fork, use the fork to get some tartar on the fish, take a bite, repeat. Perfect Tartar distribution.

But, I don't know if @luckless pedestrian has ever made it there, for a "hand" food you simply cannot beat the "haddock burger" at Bagaduce Lunch in Penobscot, ME. Let them ask if you want tartar on it, and always say yes:

Yes I have only been there once but yeah it was amazing - I like the fish and chips at this roadside stand up in Sullivan/Hancock on Route 1

I have 21 books on my "Currently Reading" list on GoodReads. I really need to finish some of those. Just knock'em off the list.
I am very circumspect with my GoodReads: I keep one paper book on there and one in my libby / hoopla app. No more. I immediately update my status. Immediately!!

I immediately update as well. Almonds as if the book isn't officially finished until Goodreads says so.

The only one I have been to out that way was Traceys and it was pretty good. Hit a really excellent lobster roll church supper once out near Schoodic that way once, burtour usual deal driving up to Maine is to plan for lunch in Belfast at Young's Lobster Pound.

Saw a rainbow this morning while the sky was still pink from the sunrise.

My 13 year old mini aussie is losing her hearing. She does not respond to normal volume talking or calling her name. If I loudly speak, she can hear. So for the last few months, when it was time to go outside, I held up my hands with my fingers together to make the shape of the letter O. No that she knows the letter O but just what I happened to think of using. She is now trained to recognize sign language to go outside.

I did end up eating my first piece of the fish yesterday the way you said - use the fork to distribute some tartar sauce and then eat with a knife and fork. The fish was served so hot that I couldn't use my hands to eat it and then breaking it apart with the fork helped cool it down too. The rest was eaten with my hands.

I do enjoy a good fish sandwich like those in the picture. That's a great way to eat it and avoid looking uncouth by eating a piece of fish with your hands. One note on a fish sandwich though is that a bad bun can really ruin the experience. The quality of the bread can really make or break it. There's a restaurant I go to every Tuesday for lunch and they make their bread and buns in house every morning and they usually have awesome buns for their fish sandwiches. It's great stuff!

For those attending the APA conference in the spring, please be on the lookout for pant-less cops!

You would think that by now people would realize that you need to check your camera to see what it sees during virtual meetings.

agreed!! I don't want to incur jealousy but the buns in my picture are these pillowy-soft potato roll type things, about 6" across, with just the right dusting of flour on top.

The best lobster feast is at my house - so you can be the next in the queue to have one with your family at our house! But Young's is okay too lol

Oh wow - that is amazing - we have a toy aussie and our daughter also taught her hand signals - they want to learn and communicate so yeah, that's pretty cool

Our public library charges a dollar for placing a hold and not picking up the hold for ten days after it’s ready.

My workaround for years if I decide I am not ready for the book or have changed my mind is to go the library, get the book from the hold shelf, check it out, and immediately return it. That costs me way more than a dollar’s worth of my time, but it’s the principle involved.

Well, turns out there is an easier way: you can call the branch and tell them you no longer need the hold. They remove the book from the hold shelf and return it to the stacks, at no cost to you. The dollar only comes in to play if the ten-day hold expires and you don’t get the book or contact the branch.

That would have been helpful information a decade ago.

I eat pizza with a fork, and people think that’s weird. No law against it.

While I sort of like the idea of the $1 fee for holds kept past ten days, it also sort of sounds like a cash grab. Why not just get rid of the fee but also reshelve any items not picked up within the ten day window?

I know our library automatically reshelves most holds not picked up within 7 days and some items with higher demand get reshelved after 48 or 72 hours.

Had two of those last night at a "Scottish Pub" before the Garbage concert.
Seeing Garbage play in 2025 is like seeing the Who play in 1995. Ironically, the Who allegedly played their final show earlier this month, which was more than 60 years after their formation. Do you think Garbage will be touring in 2055?

Not likely in 2055 but comparing the two is not the same. The Who, playing in 1995, was between It's Hard (1982) and Endless Wire (2006). No new music in a 24 year span. Garbage has been fairly consistent with 8 albums in 30 years, that latest in 2025. 2055 puts Shirley near 90, and the oldest, Duke Erikson at 104.

"Farewell to The Who in '82" did not age well.

Dont understand why anyone would think a human has any chance vs. a wild Pantanal Jaguar

^ Dont you just want to snuggle up with one of these pretty kitties?!?

Yeah it’s a stretch. I should have used the Rolling Stones. They have an upcoming release scheduled and a possible European tour in 2026.

Hey, they filmed a documentary in our office today! “Life on the Loneliest Road.” I am guessing it’s about the annual swallow migration in California or something. :)

They videoed and photographed me at my desk. They wanted a shot of me typing, so, since they couldn’t see my screen*, I typed “Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country” over and over.

* a rule our PR person made, even though everything we do is public.

RANT ALERT - I don't understand why people don't understand the zipper method of lane merging from 2 to 1 - most of the time the zipper works fine in my morning commute with the usual folks coming off my sunny island but sometimes you get some weird ass road rage from someone who doesn't normally leave the island then - almost an accident with it this morning - it's so weird, and irritating!
