RTDNTOTO 🐻 Random Thoughts Deserving No Thread Of Their Own 20 (2025)

I may have put $60 in the trash, which has been in outside since Sunday. It's been humid with temps in mid 90s all week. Something got in the trash one night and made a big mess.

I had plans for that money. I dread digging through that mess. I planned to dump it on a plastic sheet in the grass and sift through it. Now, high winds are forecast.

I really should have gone through it early this morning.

Do I have to prove I am old ?
No #19 listed. So with a total of 19, I score 18. Never had an encyclopedia set.
Everything but part of #9 - I blasted music from the boombox, but I never put it on my shoulder.
Same here.
Same here.
I'm 19 for 19. Done it all and still not older than JNA.
No to #9 (see #8 instead) - now get off my lawn.

You don't go to Waffle House for the waffles.
We have a rule that when we are traveling, we do not eat at a place we can eat at at home (with rare exceptions). Since our choices were IHOP or WH, we went WH. Next time, we'll do IHOP.

Someday I should get into my convoluted rules for Panda Express.

Also, I've been told I really should write a book of all of my rules--gives insight into my brain and the inner workings of my severe GAD.

It's zero for me. And, regarding #18, I still use mine regularly!

When I was in school, the custom was that a couple would make a mix tape for each other. I doubt that's still a thing, but maybe they make Spotify lists for each other instead now?

Also, when a couple started dating, she would wear something of his to show she "belonged" to him. Rather sexist now, but that was our school's thing.

Just flew back from North Carolina (and boy, are my arms tired!)

I see we are back up.

Tried a Waffle House. Meh. I have no idea what the hype is all about.

I LOVE WAFFLE HOUSE. For me the cheesy eggs and the apple butter on raisin toast that makes it awesome. I am drooling now thinking about it!

We picked up our birds from the bird resort on Monday. They had as much fun on their vacation as we did and traveled the world!

(As a joke, the resort sends you a picture of your bird(s) at such places as the Eiffel Tower, a cruise ship, Mayan ruins, and the like every day.)

Sounds better than this pet establishment.

They are resealing the road in front of my house. It sucks because I need to go to the store for more Dr. Pepper. How long does it take asphalt to dry?

I said I wasn't going to get another cat and this sweet, gentle stray with a clipped ear wormed his way into my heart. So now I'm the proud owner of a feline HIV positive, feline leukemia positive pussy and $1200 poorer to boot.

It's a good thing for him he's cute as a button and a lap cat.

Just have it DoorDashed and then the road isn't your problem.

But don't miss the chance to write your name in the wet asphalt! :)

The VERY aircraft we were on less than 48 hours before, that had been delayed in DFW for a “major mechanical issue” and fixed at the gate.

I heard some odd clunking coming from the starboard engine from my seat at 21F, but figured it was just from the bumpy ride.

At least it was a good ending for all involved.

Do I have to prove I am old ?

I have done everything on that list.

Plus the following:
  • Listened to songs off an 8-track,
  • Went to the library to do research for a paper
  • Adjusted the bunny ear antennas on the TV to get better reception
  • Watched TV until they played the Star Spangled Banner and programing ended for the evening
  • Adjusted the radio dial to improve the reception
  • Used a CB radio like Smoky and the Bandit
  • Rented a Betamax from a video store for the weekend (Ok, it was my dad, but I was there and remember it...)
  • Looked for the Blue Light when walking into K-Mart
  • Flipped through the JP Penny Christmas Catalog
  • Played Jarts in the field behind my grandpa's house
  • Sat in the back seat of the station wagon facing the people behind us

Well, you still score zero! 😂

Done all that too, except betamax. We never had it. Dad got a VHS and that's all there was. Never even did the short term laserdisc fad.

You are not old unless you can say you have listened to a World Series game on a transistor radio, and you are indeed really old if you've done it surreptitiously while at school, because World Series games used to be played in the daytime. Now get the hell off my lawn.

In elementary school, we had a teacher roll in the TV cart in order to watch the World Series one year.

I wrote a column one time about the famous Buckner Ball. Dad and I were on the way to somewhere, listening in the car. My dad said, "He's gonna be remembered for that the rest of his life and beyond!"

Indeed.

I'll dig that column up.

I can knock 8 of those off my list. However, our 1978 Ford LTD station wagon rear seats folded inward so the back window, which rolled down, was to your right or left side. This was the car I drove in high school up through graduation in 1989. 400ci V8.

If the 400 didn't get 8mpg, I would say that would make an excellent touring wagon even in the present day. Roomer than most modern crossovers. I'm partial to the slightly downsized 1979-91 version of the LTD/Crown Victoria/Country Squire (and more rarely, the Mercury Colony Park).

Anyone have a spare air conditioner they want to send me lol ? I really need one but cant justify the expense until next pay period, after paying rent and some emergency car repairs.

Too swamped to do 3TT this week, but instead I'll say this:

1. Submitted my AICP experience assessment earlier this week
2. I need 4 years, have 10+.
3. Complusively hitting refresh on my e-mail to see something from APA

Years ago I went on a date and we went to a Russian restaurant and ordered a flight of vodka. That was fun! I'd like to do that again with friends.

Don't forget: "Moon a Train" Day is coming up on July 12! The one day of the year it's tolerated to do exactly that, in the city of Laguna Niguel, California. The conductors on passing trains give plenty of warning to their passengers.

Even Thomas got mooned one year!

Why is it so many of the stories on CNN and Fox news now require subscriptions. Every time I come across one of them, I just go directly to the other knowing that they can use analytics to track that.

Our office's preferred Starbucks has closed. It was only a two minute walk.

Oh well. This being downtown, we can go to another one that is about a five minute walk.

Or, we could dust off the coffee maker we have in the cabinet.
