Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain
We can be like they are

...
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew and then disappeared
The curtains flew and then he appeared
Saying don't be afraid

I thought he looked like King Friday, but that was a puppet not a cartoon.

Last Monday I decided to check the thoroughness of the cleaning crew by leaving the cockroach that died on my office floor in place. This week it is turning a little black instead of brown in that paunch area where the guts go. Its right antenna seems to have been scuffed by a passing shoe and is now bent at a 90-degree angle. It's just at the edge of my vision, looking like a little sail-less dinghy on the sea of grey carpet. It seems like its head has been slowly turning to stare at me,

Now we'll need daily updates on Charlie.

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy said:
“O Deep Thought computer," he said, "the task we have designed you to perform is this. We want you to tell us...." he paused, "The Answer.""The Answer?" said Deep Thought. "The Answer to what?""Life!" urged Fook."The Universe!" said Lunkwill."Everything!" they said in chorus.Deep Thought paused for a moment's reflection."Tricky," he said finally."But can you do it?"Again, a significant pause."Yes," said Deep Thought, "I can do it.""There is an answer?" said Fook with breathless excitement."Yes," said Deep Thought. "Life, the Universe, and Everything. There is an answer. But, I'll have to think about it."...Fook glanced impatiently at his watch.“How long?” he said.“Seven and a half million years,” said Deep Thought.Lunkwill and Fook blinked at each other.“Seven and a half million years...!” they cried in chorus.“Yes,” declaimed Deep Thought, “I said I’d have to think about it, didn’t I?"[Seven and a half million years later.... Fook and Lunkwill are long gone, but their descendents continue what they started]"We are the ones who will hear," said Phouchg, "the answer to the great question of Life....!""The Universe...!" said Loonquawl."And Everything...!""Shhh," said Loonquawl with a slight gesture. "I think Deep Thought is preparing to speak!"There was a moment's expectant pause while panels slowly came to life on the front of the console. Lights flashed on and off experimentally and settled down into a businesslike pattern. A soft low hum came from the communication channel."Good Morning," said Deep Thought at last."Er..good morning, O Deep Thought" said Loonquawl nervously, "do you have...er, that is...""An Answer for you?" interrupted Deep Thought majestically. "Yes, I have."The two men shivered with expectancy. Their waiting had not been in vain."There really is one?" breathed Phouchg."There really is one," confirmed Deep Thought."To Everything? To the great Question of Life, the Universe and everything?""Yes."Both of the men had been trained for this moment, their lives had been a preparation for it, they had been selected at birth as those who would witness the answer, but even so they found themselves gasping and squirming like excited children."And you're ready to give it to us?" urged Loonsuawl."I am.""Now?""Now," said Deep Thought. They both licked their dry lips."Though I don't think," added Deep Thought. "that you're going to like it.""Doesn't matter!" said Phouchg. "We must know it! Now!""Now?" inquired Deep Thought."Yes! Now...""All right," said the computer, and settled into silence again. The two men fidgeted. The tension was unbearable."You're really not going to like it," observed Deep Thought."Tell us!""All right," said Deep Thought. "The Answer to the Great Question...""Yes..!""Of Life, the Universe and Everything..." said Deep Thought."Yes...!""Is..." said Deep Thought, and paused."Yes...!""Is...""Yes...!!!...?""Forty-two," said Deep Thought, with infinite majesty and calm.”

We have not received our Wall $treet Journal in three weeks . . . apparently the problem is that they switched delivery contractors the same day the paper was supposed to resum from a vacation hold, and the new contractor never got the message that our house is on the route. I've been emailing/reporting missed delivery daily, and I did get a call back saying that my speculation was correct, and that it would be fixed.

It's been over a week since that call. Not fixed yet.

I will have to resort to either a) buying it every day until the situation is fixed (at $5 a day, not a big deal but an annoyance), or b) start a new subscription and see if that one starts.

Yes, I know I can read it online and am getting credited for the missed days, but we want the paper, darnit!!! Plus, we have birds.

Try leaving some fake dog poop somewhere and see what happens.

I did the same thing with the corpse of a stink bug. I named her Trudy. Trudy was next to my desk for close to three weeks before the vacuum finally got Trudy and took her away from me. Kinda heart-broken, if I'm honest.:brokenheart:

Kinda not heart-broken about my ex, who can, frankly, kiss my ass. Bitch.:skullcrossbones:

Moving stress levels way higher than they should be.
Kids start school one month from today and we haven’t found a rental yet.
Wife has two interviews tomorrow, but does not have a job offer yet.
Moving Truck arrives on the 29th but we don’t have our house listed yet, (or a place or them to go yet.)

While the stress his high, YET is the key word. We will find a place to live in the next couple of weeks and the kids will start school on time. Wife is a nurse with management experience, the job question not a question of if, but which one. We finished the last of declutterring and repainting over the weekend and the cleaning company is coming to give us a quote today. Oh and we are in a hot market.

Point of Order: @Maister is correct. The question cannot be answered as asked.
Not sure HR Pufnstuf was a cartoon either. Thats before me. I know that King Friday became a cartoon in the godforsaken Daniel Tigers Neighborhood. Which if you haven't had a young kid in the last 12 years is one of the worst cartoons out there.

Friday at 3. Hands down. That crap should be illegal.

On another note, adding another category to my list of people who should have their ass whipped: people who fill up their car at the convenience store and then go inside and leave their car unattended. I'm talking at busy places where you're constantly circling for an open pump. I can't stand people who are completely oblivious to others around them.
This. Especially when they do it at the one diesel pump with their gas car.

I do that myself, but I fill up at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday mornings, when there are about eight empty pumps. Can I be excused?

If there are people waiting (unlikely), I would leave the pump and move to a parking spot.

The committee recognizes X the Owl. You have the floor.
Lady Elaine Fairchild has brought it to my attention that an amendment has been proposed. Shouldn't a second be made before the language of the amendment can be voted upon, thus enabling the body thereafter to call the original question? I think the parliamentarian, Mr. McFeely, should weigh in.

I intended to water my front lawn for 30 minutes last night before I went to bed. At 5:00 am I discovered that I forgot to turn off the sprinkler.

However, given how hot and dry it has been, maybe it will help make the house photos look good next week.

The Committee agrees. Call the Honorable Mr. McFeely. Mr. McFeely? The restroom? Again, dammit. Every time we need that dufus...what? My mic is hot? I don't know what that...I can't do everything myself! Can't I get one of those platypus children to run audio in here? Labor laws!?

When I was a kid, it seemed like 95% of the out of state license plates in Metro Detroit were from Ohio or Ontario. These days I'd say the vast majority of out of state plates here are Illinois. Now I know what folks in the Traverse City area mean when they complain about the FIP.

The people across the street are building an outdoor kitchen and a big patio in their backyard with tons of stone and some pretty extravagant looking landscaping and lighting but it appears they have one person doing all the work. They've been working on it since early March and I've never seen another guy out there working. Seems like an odd choice.

Be pretty nice when they get to use it......next year. Great time to start construction on an in-ground pool, too!

Right about now I could go for a six-month-long solo patio building project all by myself with no one talking to me...

It is so, so, so hot. I know it's not as hot here as it is in other places, but I am a human harbor seal. I need the cold Pacific sliding over my graceful but ample form - alas! I am hundreds of miles from the cold, cold Pacific and the west is already on fire. Currently, I am melting ice cubes on the back of my neck while I slave away for an ungrateful public.

How many does your fair community have?
Mine has 16.
So over 93% of people have a cardiologist in their county (and the rest live in remote areas). Doesn't sound newsworthy.... more of a factoid than anything else.

The article goes on to say that in those areas where specialty doctors such as cardiologists are not available, people tend to be less healthy. Duh.

It seems like logical common sense. But if you want to live in a cabin off the grid, go for it.

I don't know if its an issue for people who want to live off the grid. I think if you look at the map you can easily pick out the Black Belt, Mississippi River Delta, and a bit of the Appalachian Mountain range. The other vacant areas in the mid-West/West line up many of the reservations. A few of the counties in places like Arizona are not shown as deserts but they have 2 cardiologists for a county that's 12,000 sq miles and larger than 4 or 5 states. Granted they are not very dense places.

Outdoor kitchens are a thing up here which is so crazy because of things like winter that happen every year

Now we'll need daily updates on Charlie.
The room appears to have been vacuumed, Charlie still persists however pushed underneath the side table beside my desk. Total movement probably about two feet. I believe the vacuum must have a low floor clearance. One single leg appears to have become detached from his hindquarters and rests one body length from his head. Bearing: ESE. I'm guessing that this may be his final resting place.

Last night I called my daughter into the kitchen to read the expiration date on a coupon for dishwasher detergent because I couldn't find my glasses.

I have never felt older in my life. :worried:

490 in mine, but either Bubba wins or Bubba loses because his place needs more cardiologists.

What F#$^ co worker calls me before 8 am? Yep, it's the one I thought it was. They're also good at setting up meetings with vague subject lines like some lady from the county. Obviously you got an email, why not just forward me the email so I know WTF is going on.
