It's a perfectly adequate example. Yes, if the next word began with a vowel it would, however, better demonstrate how the r can (but does not have to) function as a liaison consonant.
Grammar fight!

Oh yeah? Well you're a liaison consonant!!!

PS damn that's hard to type. Liaison consonant. jeebus.

Did you just type "PS"?! You do realize P and S are abbreviations for the words 'post' and 'script', don't you? I ask WHAT punctuation mark do we use to denote abbreviations?

I found out there is this thing called "candlepin bowling" and thought I would check it out on Youtube.

Ended up watching 2 hours of it.

That's the only bowling I knew of until I got older. Far more candlepin alleys in New England than 10-pin facilities.

My favorite memories of my grandfather before he died was him coming to our house every Saturday after working the morning shift at the pharmacy to eat lunch and watch bowling on TV with me.

Where did Donny end up? Donny was in my first grade class. He looked kind of like that kid that played Charlie in the old Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie. He even wore a goofy turtleneck (of course, it was 1978 or 79). After that moment when he was sitting on the radiator in our classroom, I never saw him again.

Bet he goes by "Don" now. Hmh. Yeah, it's a slow afternoon around here. :)

Ooooh. Yesterday I was talking with some old school friends about a Danny that was at our elementary school. Psychic vibes strike again!

Wait a minute....YOU WENT TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TOO? SO DID I! Wow, it's like synchronicity! And if that isn't a big enough mind blowing coincidence, are you aware that BOTH "dandy" and "Maister" have TWO SYLLABLES!

My best friend in elementary school was named Donny. We are still good friends and most people still call him Donny.

Where I'm from it's duckpin bowling. Far superior to 10 pin IMHO. There has never been a perfect game thrown in duckpin bowling.

I believe the highest ever score in candlepin is in the mid 200's. Anything in the low to mid 100's is considered a good/great game.

I don't believe there will ever be a perfect 300 in candlepin.

I'm assuming dandy is already quite familiar with the ongoing adventures of Hana and Kotaro. If not, there are hundreds of hours worth of their videos available on YouTube.

My grandmother (in her seacoast NH city) used to take my sister and me candlepin bowling whenever we stayed with her. Something about being near the beach in new England and candlepin bowling just makes sense.

How about this..... I once dated a girl whose father drove a burgundy 1979 LeBaron. And I also got stung by a bee while mowing the lawn last summer.

I knew it! @dandy_warhol is a psychic! Please get a second story space in your favorite core business district immediately and I will spring for the beads hanging in the doorway and the illegal neon sign.

There is not an emoji for me to love that mental picture enough. I literally passed out at my desk. Mixed use nerdy psychic group think tears of joy. Passed. Out.

Yes, the record is 245 and has been done twice (from wiki)

I remember when someone got a 300 in league play it was a big deal and ended up in the paper. Not the case anymore.

Anyone here hit by cell phone outages this AM? Ms Fringe phone is out (Att) but mine is not (Verizon). I have heard service is out in places nationwide due to solar flares.

The AT&T outage is all over the news locally. Really makes one wonder how dependent we are on particular elements of technology these days.
