doohickie - I'm glad you got the 1000th posts with those one-worded items. You're well on your way of being a professional post-padder.
He needs to join the PPP National. Be sure to keep up on your CE credits, though. They have lots of great courses and materials available on post padding.

You've never read Revelations have you?
I don't recall it in revelations, but I do recall it in the gospels when Jesus said that Peter will deny him three times before the rooster crows. But I don't see the connection with that and a golden rooster.

Is a Valentine's Day - What are you doing? Poll worth a new thread ?
We don't do anything fancy. Exchange cards, that's about it.

We're going to Vegas this weekend. We have reservations for a fancy dinner while there, and that will be our "thing" for Valentine's.

Might wanna check that date again JNA.

Lee County, Iowa was established in 1836 by an act of the Wisconsin Territorial legislature which further provided that court in the newly-established county would be held in the city of Madison. 1837 Wisconsin Territorial Statutes, Act No. 21, Sections 1 and 8 (enacted December 7, 1836). Soon after Iowa statehood, the First Iowa General Assembly passed a special law providing that district court in Lee County was to be held in both Fort Madison and Keokuk. 1848 Acts, 1st G.A., extra session, ch. 52,§§ 1, 5, 6 (hereinafter "Special Law of 1848").

There have been several attempts at consolidating into one location or the other, but no agreement has been able to be made.

How cool is this -

An Evansville women's signature was found on a World War ll aircraft

Museum hoping to identify ‘Rosie the Riveter,’ woman who likely built a P-47 in Evansville

But we have 100 courthouses. Lee County has two. Kossuth County used to be two counties, Kossuth and Bancroft. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bancroft_County,_Iowa (Bancroft County, Iowa - Wikipedia)
The county seat of Kossuth County is Algona.

In 2003, Algona drew national attention when it announced the purchase of the world's largest Cheetos puff. It was meant as a plan to bring tourism to the town to see the puff by a local radio DJ.
Any idea of what came of the world's largest Cheetos puff?

We had something like that happen at our Costco, except it wasn't the building, it was the parking lot. A good chunk of it started slipping into the lake (er... glorified retention pond) below. They had to close the parking lot for months to do repairs and rebuild the parking lot.

Unfortunately Google Street View doesn't have any images from when the parking lot collapsed, but you can see the hefty retaining wall holding it up now.

I feel strongly that the best flavor of LifeSavers is Butter Rum. I have a bag in my drawer. I don't dislike other flavors. Those flavors cannot help that they are inferior to Butter Rum. Not all are destined to be Butte Rum. The world needs Wintergreen, and Pep-O-Mint, and even the fruity flavors, the names and types of which I do not bother to note or remember. Butter Rum. Butter Rum. Butter Rum. It's almost like a mystic chant or whatever the yoga people call them. Butter Rummmmmmmmm Butter Rummmmmmmm Butter Rummmmmmm.....don't you feel calm? Don't you feel like it's all OK? That's the power, the unbridled superiority and beauty of the Butter Rum.

...& similar to the butterscotch candies my grandma used to give us. I like the butter rum too.

I don't think the front end staff at my new job like me. Admin and a permit tech. They are just so warm and cozy with the building inspectors but for me it's all business. I think they don't like that I came in as a salaried exempt employee, but hey, I've been in this realm twenty years. Maybe it's just that I'm a lot older than they probably expected the person in this position to be? I don't know, but I've been around long enough to know that it's not good that they don't seem to like me.

I'm going to generalize a little, so forgive me: front end people, sometimes, make a lot of trouble for people. They can be gossipy and really petty, and complain about people in the department that they don't like, whether it's merited or not. That's just been my experience, both working with them and managing them. Again, lots of really great ones, too, but it's important when they are your co-workers to be on their good side and I can't seem to get there in this office. sigh.

I just sat through a training with a young, hot-headed coworker. She wastes so much energy complaining and assuming that everyone else is wrong. It's so tiring and I try to limit my exposure to her, bit damn.

I gave my daughters store bought Valentine cards yesterday but at the last minute I decided to also print out some fan-made Valentine cards from shows they like for each of them. I gave my oldest a card with some character from a spinoff of Avatar. She's 13 so nothing I do is cool so I figured I'd lean into the cheesiness and it worked. She was literally doubled over with genuine laughter, in a good way.

Looks like its the end of the line for my car goldie. Got into a fender bender. It won't buff out... ugh. That's life.

It's hard to let go of cars you like. I'm immediately, irrationally sentimental about cars sometimes.

I'm quite attached to my 2013 Fiat but I wonder if they're designed/built to go much past ten years. So far it's been a champ, but I wonder.

AIB mskis -
I dabbled in the wooden boat scene for a couple years about 20 years ago. Went to several shows and working with a buddy that had a 21’ Garwood (1940 I think). Helped with a full restoration, but then we moved. I was a blast to take out on the lake.

I don't hire "lifers" for the front end. I look for candidates who want to get the experience and get out/move up after a couple of years. Cuts down on the gossipy thing.

It was on display in a restaurant, but it was remodeled and no longer on display.

It is Friday. I am on full auto-pilot here. I just typed something somebody said they needed about....fences? I have no idea what it was. Carry on.

My oldest is home sick so I've given up the den to her and moved to the kitchen counter to work (I like sitting in the kitchen better anyway, but my wife hates it when I'm here  ). I didn't bother bringing my charging cable out to the kitchen because otherwise my computer battery usually dies after about 40 minutes of being unplugged. I didn't bother with the cable when I brought it out here earlier this morning and somehow my battery has lasted nearly 4 hours so far today. This may be a new record!

So last night I was driving across town and as I drove down a hilly road a cat darted out into the street and I didn't even have time to hit the brakes. The cat was killed instantly. There were apartment buildings on either side of the street so I ended up just pulling the cat's corpse off to the side of the road. No collar or tags. I felt terrible and still do, but I find myself asking, who would let their cat roam free? I'm assuming the cat was a pet, but have no actual proof of that. This morning I drove past the place and saw the corpse had been removed, so maybe so. But, again, if you're going to have a pet why let them outside unless you want this fate for them?
