I enjoy my fancy clothing and worked part time for a while at a higher end department store selling dress shirts and neckties. Thanks to the employee discounts and freebies from vendors, by the time I quit I had a pretty nice wardrobe... But I was going into my first full-job as a social worker so I had to scale it back considerably. I still wear a lot of nice clothing but (besides maybe some loud patterns on a pair of socks), most of my stuff is rather subtle. If I had to pick a particular aesthetic that most of my wardrobe fits into it would probably be rather "trad" in the
Take Ivy sense of the word.
I know I spend a lot on clothing, but instead of flashy well known designer names, I try to focus on quality materials, unique textures, and items made in particular countries (USA, Japan, UK, France, Belgium) that have a lot of unionized labor or at least pay a living wage.... though lately I did find that I can buy t-shirts with vintage graphics for basically any band on eBay super cheap so I have to imagine the BÖC shirt I'm wearing to WFH this afternoon was probably screen printed by somebody making 8¢ in some deplorable warehouse.
