Finished up Catch Me a Killer (Amazon Prime/Britbox) last night. I kind of feel the need to bleach my brain after watching it - very well made/acted, but just horrific subject material...

Only Murders in the Building is up with their next season, as is Slow Horses - both first episodes were great

I love Slow Horses but am waiting for a few more episodes to pile up before I start this season so that I can watch a bunch all at once. One of the few shows I actually want to binge in one night if I can stay up! I've also been trying to get my wife to watch it as I think she'd like it. If she agrees to, I'll start from the beginning again.

I saw that season 2 of The Rings of Power has begun. Season 1 wasn't terrible but I think I might be a little lost so that one I am definitely going to start over from the beginning before starting season 2. I'm looking forward to Tom Bombadil being in season 2, even if the writers did sort of change him up a bit.

We decided to do the same. There's enough complexity and nuance there that it's warranted in this case. One of the drawbacks of having years between season releases.

Ok.

A little late to the scene but The Witcher is pretty good.

My wife and I started it this past weekend.

Nice.

Everybody Hates Chris is a gem.

Sometime ago my oldest was asking for sitcom suggestions to watch. A couple of the older ones I gave her were Everybody Hates Chris and Malcolm in the Middle. She loved both and when I re-watched a few episodes with her, they both held up really well.

Also, I just realized a few days ago, that the actor who played Chris, Tyler James Williams, is also Mr. Eddie on Abbot Elementary - another great show. I keep suggesting Abbot Elementary to my daughter but she hasn't seemed to interestested in that one even though I think she'd really enjoy it.

The Middle is also good.

I finally finished season 1 of Blood of the Dragon yesterday while Mrs. Me was getting her hair cut.

Started watching Dark Winds. It is really enjoyable. It's based on the Tony Hillerman Navajo police officer books, featuring tribal officers Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee. Part mystery, part suspense, part anthropology lesson.

Moved on to Witcher Season 2 this morning.

My wife and I currently have these on our watching list:

Only Murders in the Building
Lucifer
English Teacher
High Potential
Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

It's so hard to get hooked on new shows in the first season, since the vast majority of them will be gone by November, but, of the shows we've tried, my opinion:

Matlock: Meh. Only watching because of Kathy Bates

High Potential: Basically an "Elsbeth meets Monk" show. Will give it more of a chance, but not optimistic.

Brilliant Minds: Well, since I lost a doctor show last year, there is room for one in my rotation. Giving it a shot and enjoying it so far.

(Does it seem like there are more new shows than usual this year? I think that may be a remnant of the strike last year.)

I enjoyed that show. It was fun. And sexy.

Some of my favorite parts of the show, though, are the smart dialogue. I remember one scene where Lucifer invokes his superpower (compelling people to name their deepest desires) and says "Tell me what you want. What you really really want." :ha: I LOL'ed. Mrs. Maister entirely missed the Spice Girls reference.

I've started watching Dark Winds on Netflix. The characters are from the Joe Leap Horn books set in the southwest. I read most of the books in the series and seen the series/movie(s). 2-3 episodes into it, it's pretty good.

I just started season 2 last night.

Neither my wife or I have ever watched any of Lost so we decided to give that a try. We're about 7 or 8 episodes into the first season and we're both really enjoying it so far. Definitely late to the party on this one!

Stay with it. It's worth it in my opinion (but strategic fast forwarding will help).

I've also never watch this one and wondered if it's worth it.

Yelp...Yellowjackets is on Netflix now and I started it last night.

Halfway through ep. 3 this morning and, so far,....

Just started Game of Thrones this week. I watched most, if not all in the past, but with several months or over a year between seasons, parts of the storyline sometimes is forgotten. I need to do the same with The Sopranos.

Lincoln Lawyer. Fun and not unpredictable.
Yeah, season 3 just started. Watched it last night, in fact.

On a lark, we started watching Outrageous Pumpkins in honor of it being October. Man, some of those amazingly skilled pumpkin carvings are nothing short of fine art.

Yellowjackets quoted Vonnegut's Mother Night and Slaughterhouse Five in one ep. 3 scene without making a show of it.

@luckless pedestrian

Watched the rest of Season 1 and borrowed Season 2 dvds from the library.

Um...the creators need to really retcon the narrative style for Season 3. Season 2 had some good magical realism stuff in the 'past', but much of the 'present' action was "Desperate Housewives" level machinations, scenarios and deus ex machinas. I was thoroughly underwhelmed by the end of Season 2...and really not interested in Season 3's furtherance of the narrative. The awesomeness of the first scene of Season 1, Episode 1 sustained me to the end of Season 2, but....

On another front - started The Diplomat on Netflix this past weekend. On Season 1 Ep. 5, and so far...

Started watching Hysteria! on Peacock. Got through one episode, was kinda bored, kinda intrigued. The good part of it was reminiscent of David Lynch's Fire Walk With Me, but that got wholly consumed by its yearning to be better than Stranger Things. Started the second episode. Got really bored. I don't think I will return to watching this. I have no idea why Hysteria! has such an excellent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

(Note, I too had a personal "satanic panic" period in the 1980s. I should be a part of the perfect viewing demographic. My experience included church-lovers at school, Chick tracts and Power Team comic books, an older brother who wanted to listen to Dio and Motley Crue with me, a dad who got us an Atari because he was paranoid about the crime and didn't want us to out at night, and another evangelical youth pastor of an older brother that wanted to purge the TV of Skeletor and other graven images. Went to a few Super Church "chuck-e-cheese-style" praise-jesus-and-earn-redemption-tickets Sunday school gatherings back in the day with my youth pastor brother. Do people who never went through this think it was kitsch and we all laughingly had a good time dealing with those family members who let their heads get filled with fear? That was some serious stuff, man.)

I have been following Disclaimer on Apple TV - it's not bad but it's not great

when does Nicole Kidman sleep, she is in so many shows right now I can't keep her characters straight - she's not in Disclaimer but I have watched 3 other shows she has done recently

I may start The Diplomat

Re-watching Andor on the days I'm working out (on my phone). I am still in awe of how freaking good the writing and storyline is. Criminally underrated Star Wars content.

The Narkina 5 arc is so amazing, gives me chills just thinking about those episodes. And then every bit of Forest Whitaker's Saw Gerrera is unforgettable! And I need to elevate the greatness of Luthen's tractor beam countermeasure in Episode 11. So good!

I was going to re-watch Andor prior to the next season release (when is that?). The Star Wars franchise is not particularly notable for its great writing, but Andor stands apart in this respect. It's a nuanced portrayal that examines how a rebel came to be. It's quite psychologically sophisticated.

Are any of you surprised I don't have any premium channels / streaming sevices, so I don't even know about any of the shows you are posting.
