Wife and I started Yellowstone a few days ago. So far we like it. The cinematography is simply beautiful, it's as if the land is a character unto itself.

I never watched West Wing but someone recommended it to me. It's kind of interesting because I think of it as a relatively current show (it's over 20 years old!) and it's interesting to see how communications and technology have changed. So far, so good, although there have been a few plot points that are... not very credible.

West Wing was a great show in its time. I've been tempted to re-watch it but was reluctant to do so for fear of finding out how poorly it's aged.

Just saw episode 8 of Andor last night. The first couple episodes started kind of slow but Ho-lee Crap it's riveting now!

I'm slowly re-watching it now for probably the 3rd time. I think it's actually aged pretty well because many of the issues are still relevant. But more importantly I think the interaction between characters and the relationships and trust and respect transcend any time period. Plus the writing is just so damn good!

Finished all three seasons of Deadwind (on Netflix) - between that and Young Wallander, I feel like I'm about to spin down a Nordic Noir rabbit hole.

Watched Kaleidescope on Netflix this weekend.

It was a decent limited series heist story.

If you like that kind of thing.

Oh yeah, then you need to watch The Rain, Borgen, Dark, Black Spot, and Bordertown oh and Occupied

My son and I binged Severance over the weekend and what a crazy ride that was -

Between Christmas and New Year's I watched both seasons of Slow Horses on AppleTV (there aren't that many episodes in each season). I'm always a fan of spy/espionage TV shows and this was another great one.

Whenever I watch an episode of Season 5 of Yellowstone, I keep waiting for Summer to grab a microphone and start singing, with really attractive female bartenders dance on the bar. But it has not happened yet.

Watching Book of Boba Fett. It was nice to see a couple Mandalorian episodes thrown in there.

The part that hasn't aged well is communications technology. In that respect it's become a "period piece" where pagers and faxes are the height of instant communication, and cell phones (let along smart phones) are not yet standard equipment for the typical person. As someone who lived through that transitional time I kind of enjoy with nostalgia the world that used to be.

One thing I've had to take with a grain of salt is some of the plot line elements. They make the west wing staff seem almost buffoonish in how they handle situations, making things up on the fly (like the way they muffed the Indonesian state visit in Season 1... there's no way that would be handled that poorly). But if I dismiss stuff like that quickly and center on the interactions between characters the show is still enjoyable.

I don't really like the President Jed Bartlet character either. He seems too aloof and disconnected. Maybe the White House really is that way where the president only operates at a very high level, but it seems like he doesn't always "get it" with some of the issues. And he's kind of annoying, what with his national park trivia and such. I think that's part of the point: The president is the public front of the administration and it takes a huge support staff for him to be successful.

The movie Straight Up on Netflix is good.

Hyper verbal in a fun and lovey way.

Recommended.

Recently signed up for the free 7 day trial of Discovery Plus just so we can watch episodes of The Repair Shop. Great show.

Been watching Doom Patrol on HBO. You think they jumped the shark and then they introduce sex ghosts.

I started The Boys on Amazon Prime last week and am really enjoying that one.

I started Umbrella Academy. It had trouble holding my interest. Maybe there's a "hump" you have to get over before it pulls you in....?

After reading so many positive reviews I tried Umbrella Academy a while back but never made it past the second or third episode. ¯\(ツ)

Documentary Now on netflix.

Basically, extended SNL skits with Bill Hader & crowd.

I loved Documentary Now. It was sort of hit or miss, but when it hit, it hit really hard. I think there are still a few episodes I haven't yet seen. I may need to check it out again.

Started watching (and bouncing around) Shameless on Netflix.

And interesting conception and execution.

I found that Roku has a bunch of free concerts and documentaries about classic albums to watch so I've started watching some of them, they're especially good for background music when I'm doing something else. So far I've watched the "Classic Albums" shows on Aja and 2112/Moving Pictures and I started the one on The Door's self titled debut album last night. There doesn't seem to be any groundbreaking insights in them but there's some good commentary from the album producers and engineers and they do a good job at getting interviews with the surviving band members.

I really wanted to watch the one on Disraeli Gears but it doesn't want to seem to load up for some reason.

Yeah, I liked the Dark Side of the Moon one.

Finally finished White Lotus Season 2. Hubby doesn't binge, so there's a lag between episodes that can drive me crazy!

Waiting for Picard to come out on Paramount, then we'll do a trial of it and catch Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 and Picard.

We watched this campy and hilarious show last night called UFO from 1970-1971 - omg you gotta see it
That was an old British production from ITC (who also made Space 1999 if you recall the show that came on right before the Muppet Show). I saw UFO some time ago. It's campy now, but don't think it was intended to be viewed that way back in the day.

The 'best' campy productions are the ones that were dead serious in their day.

Hence the need for MST3K by the 1990s.

So....the original Batman series starring Adam West that ran from '66 - '68 was intended to be campy. Does that mean it would not qualify as 'best' camp in your view?

Cunk on Earth is kinda cringe but funny. Diane Morgan is great.

Started watching that last night. It is funny, but like you said there's a cringe factor in there. I definitely want to watch a few more episodes to see where it goes.

I told The Girl about it because I want her opinion due to the nature of it.
