Anybody watching or watched Mare of Easttown yet? We are two episodes in and hooked. Kate Winslet is amazing.
But it ran out of gas. Still worth watching though
Occasionally a plot line has something such that I can no longer root for the protagonist and I end up losing interest in the video.
A glimpse of this is in Episode 3, @ 46".
The details are Episode 3, @ 55".
I don't plan on watching Episodes 4 - 7.

You don't believe in change and redemption?
I'm fine if fictional good people do d-baggish things, as long as they're sorry about it and redeem themselves over time. Here's where a spoiler alert comes in:
* SPOILER ALERT *
A few of my male friends are crazy about Kate Winslet and were planning to watch the whole TV series no matter what. When they finished, I asked if I should finish the series: was there was a mitigating explanation for what her character did in Episode 3? Did she show sorrow over her bad action, and did the rest of her actions make up for it?

These particular friends know me extremely well. Their answer was on the lines of "not enough... well, sort of... not totally..." These guys were really rooting for Kate Winslet to wrap every up in an awesome package, and it didn't sound like she did.

So, I added this whole Britbox thing, thinking I would use the free week to catchup on Death in Paradise by knocking out S8 and then cancelling it...turns out there was already a S9 and S10. So, I kept it, and have now turned my attention to MI-5 (aka Spooks for any Brits lurking here) - currently close to finishing season 4 of 10. Britbox is looking to be a rabbit hole to spin down...

Haven't seen S9 or S10 of Death in Paradise yet. I was planning on finishing up with the series as soon as I'm out of The Crown episodes (which is fast approaching).

Britbox is the Bomb!

Anyone else enjoy Qi? I laugh at every episode, and they have some interesting guests sprinkled among the regulars.

Clarksons Farm on Prime

If you liked Top Gear and Jeremy doing stooopid things you'll like this one. There's an episode where he has to get 'planning permission' and then gets shut down after one day because he put on a metal roof instead of slate.

I recently read Guadalcanal Diary and was telling a Marine friend of mine how much I liked it. He mentioned that it's his favorite WWII book and that if I haven't already seen it, I should check out the HBO miniseries The Pacific as a lot of the first episode or two is based on it while much of the rest of the series is based on other books we both also liked (With the Old Breed, Helmet for My Pillow, China Marine). I told him I tried watching it a few years ago and just couldn't get into it and the production value looked really bad.

I decided to give it a try again the other night and it's outstanding! I don't know what I turned on a few years ago though it couldn't have been this. I'm halfway through and I'm enjoying The Pacific more than Band of Brothers.

Add Islands of the Damned to that list of books.

I wanted to follow up that I read Islands of the Damned a few weeks ago. Phenomenal!

I've really been dragging out the Crown, but we're finally up to Lady Di now. Savoring this one, not bingeing.

My late father was a history professor, and while it wasn't his area of concentration in grad school, WWII history was his passion (his father was a combat engineer, KIA at Omaha Beach, Dog White sector). Islands of the Damned was one of the books I pulled out of his library when we cleaned out my parents' house - having watched The Pacific prior to reading it made it kind of cool to be able to pick out the pieces that were weaved into the TV series.

I am catching up on Into the Night as they just dropped a new season on Netflix

Had just finished Deadwater Fell on Amazon and it was really good

Am a Tuesday person for the Only Murders in the Building - thoroughly enjoying it

Hubby wants to watch Foundation. Meh. But if he chooses then I don't have to.

We are working our way through Y: The Last Man. I like it but it is a bit heavy.

We're also watching A.P. Bio.

I'll have to check it out.
Nevermind.

In my opinion, these first two episodes of Foundation were booorrrrrring and I have a high tolerance for, presumed, sci-fi.

I fear the show will simple be a simple Shonda Rhimes drama in high sci-fi clothing.

The same way I feel about The Expanse.

I'm digging Y: The Last Man. It doesn't narratively stall like you'd expect such a show to (looking at you Lost) and has good narrative propulsion in the story line, so far.

Certainly fails the Bechdel Test, that's for sure. ;)

A.P. Bio is fantastic and was the only show to make me go out and purchase a streaming service specifically for it.

I want to check out Y: The Last Man. I know nothing about the graphic novel but the show looks interesting.

Hubby said that Y: The Last Man is his favorite graphic novel. And he has read a lot of them!

If you need something a little scary but not over the top scary or gory, watch The Gloaming on Amazon (Starz) - great mini-series, scary but no bad dreams

Yes! Only Murders has been such a nice change to the usual shows - I could watch Steve Martin read a phone book as I have always been a big fan of his!

Also on Hulu, I got myself into American Rust and I it's not bad - I will stay on it to see what happens

^ I haven't watched Squid Games yet (not sure I want to) but after reading a couple brief reviews, a mash-up of Battle Royale and Hunger Games was exactly what I thought of.

My wife and I both want to watch Only Murders in the Building but we're holding off from starting it for a few more days until she's done isolating in the den, so that way we can watch it together.

Finished Anne with an 'E'. It was quite good.

Started Squid Game last night. Disturbing.

And also started re-watching The Wire.

Has anyone finished this one? Verdict?

I'm currently working on season 4 of Goliath.
I'm done, after only two nights.

It was good, though I would make a disclaimer too that I don't watch shows that often. This piqued my interest and it got me watching all the way till the end in two nights.

My wife has gone through Anne with an E about 10 times now since this past winter. I haven't watched it all in order but I think I've seen every episode at least once.

I now also have this song forever stuck in my head (in fact, I was playing it yesterday on the way to pick my youngest up from school):

We finished Anne with an E on Saturday. Last night when Hubby asked what I wanted to watch I said, "Anne with an E". I think your wife and I would get along!

Anne with an E was excellent. I was very sad it was not renewed. From what I understand it had something to do with the Netflix-CBC partnership and not the show itself. Some purists poo-poohed it but I thought it was more akin the stories between the lines in the book. I like the old adaptations too.

Squid Games was nuts. I didn't like the ending at all. Bella is obsessed with ppopgi/dalgona candy now.

The latest season of Call the Midwife is now airing on PBS after long delay. Enjoyable as ever.

Maid is an excellent limited run Netflix series. Having a similar life path (minus domestic violence) some of it was hard to watch at times.

My wife and I finished Monk about a month ago. Really liked that show. We have since watched American Crime Story : The People vs. OJ Simpson which we liked. ACS : Gianni Versace, which we didn't and most of ACS : Impeachment which we like so far, however it hasn't all been released yet, so we are waiting until it is finished.

We have picked up House of Cards. We had previously watched the first 2 seasons, but are watching the rest of it now. Such a good show.
