To defend Iron Man 3, Ben Kingsley's performance is pretty stellar and worth watching the movie just for him.

You know you can fast forward? It's helpful to get through the sloggy part(s) of pretty much...anything.
I hear you. One can fast forward through the entire movie Electra Glide in Blue and go right to the ending. I still remember the long final shot and the song from when I first saw it 40+ years ago.

Just watched Tom Clancy's No Remorse on Amazon.

Not bad. Good action. Looks like they may do more and make it a series.

Currently working through Line of Duty (Amazon Prime/Brit Box).

Speaking of Brit Box, all you Shetland fans on here - why should I watch that one? What's the hook...?

I loved everything about Shetland - the characters, the scenery - it doesn't pander, good acting

I need to get Britbox so I can watch it and get caught up

I am watching the season of The Expanse that recently got dropped - I wish the recap was longer because I feel like I need to re-watch everything

Still sticking with Sunday viewing of the Dexter episode and Yellowjackets - Yellowjackets isn't that great, it's not bad, I am at a point where I want to see it play out - Dexter critics say it's just another season of Dexter and I am all in for it, as in, what else would it be but that?

A few years late to the game but my wife and I finally decided to watch Stranger Things on Netflix. We started it Saturday night and plowed through the first season really quick. We both enjoyed it a lot more than we thought we would and decided to dive right into season 2 last night.

My wife told me she decided she wanted to watch it now because she learned that the girl who played Anne in Anne with an E is going to be in the upcoming season 4 due out in a few months.

There were, unfortunately, diminishing returns from Season 1 to 3.

Season 1 is pretty good on it's own though.

Just finished up Season 6 of Shetland. I really like it. Mostly because of the scenery and their accents. Visiting there is on my bucket list.

We have one more episode of Season 2 of All Creatures Great and Small. I like their accents too. And seeing all the animals. It is such a "nice" show. No bads guys. No bad things (unless you are a cow). Just a slice of life.

I finished out Dexter - I don't know how I feel about the end but it was deflating - I felt like they needed a couple more episodes to clear up a few holes - won't spoil it if you haven't seen it - the new season was criticized as just being another season of Dexter but I thought that was the point so - I really like his character - it's beyond the villain you root for or the man you love to hate, it's much more complicated

Netflix dropped another season of Undercover - it's very good if you don't mind subtitles

In the middle of the tenure of the 11th Doctor in Dr Who. I don't like the intro portion, and don't like this Dr as much as #s 9 and 10, but I do like the dark side/anger aspect that he brings to the character.

The determination/depth of loss and frantic energy of #10 was fabulous. #9 was complex without being scarily mysterious. I do like the new aspects that each new actor brings to the show - keeps it fresh - but the acting of #11 is not on par with the previous 2 Doctors.

I was definitely worried about there being diminishing returns. I lobbied for us at least waiting a week or two before starting season 2 since I feel like the diminished returns might be more pronounced if we keep watching them in such close succession but my wife pointed out that if I don't watch more right now, I probably never will and then she'll have to binge them all on her own before season 4 and I told her that that's right.

Speaking of watching things in such quick succession, this also pertains to my daughter and my binge of the MCU movies. We just finished Ant-Man and we've gone through enough movies now that when something bad is happening on earth and Iron Man isn't there, I just ask Myself, "Why the hell isn't Iron Man showing up? Where are the Avengers?" This seemed even more relevant in Ant-Man where the action was primarily taking place in San Francisco, which should have been a very quick flight for Iron Man to show up and stop Yellow Jacket.

This probably wasn't as much of an issue if you're taking 8-12 months between MCU movies and you understand that Robert Downey Jr. was probably off doing other things but when you're watching the movies back-to-back, you really do wonder what the hell the rest of the Avengers are doing with their time when some random super villain is destroying some other major city and you just saw the Avengers save NYC a day or two earlier.

I have heard good things about Yellowjackets. I think we are going to watch that next.

Then loop back around to the first few seasons of Shetland and then rewatch Treme. I am badly missing New Orleans.

I don't think we are going to finish the last few episodes of The Wire this go round. Too depressing with the outcomes for the kids.

Currently finishing up the last available season for Murder In Paradise and slowly working through season 6 of Murdoch Mysteries

I have not liked the modern ones. I grew up with Tom Baker.

Me too, though I like some of the modern that I've watched, but it's been limited to isolated episodes with the 10th and 11th doctors (David Tenant and Mat Smith).

Speaking of David Tenant, everyone needs to watch Staged. David Tennant and Michael Sheen playing 'David Tennant' and 'Michael Sheen' among other amazing supporting and guest actors.

Killer.

Yeah it was the Smith ones I watched. They can do more with effects now of course, but the stories are just not as good as Jon Pertwee or Tom Baker. The episodes with Davross are tough to beat.

Yeah, so about that...Brit Box has seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6. Season 5 is also available through Amazon Prime, but is on the Acorn TV channel, for just an additional $8/month. Nice scam they have going there. :cursing:

Prime has a promotion going on where you can get Acorn for 99 cents for two months. After that, you have to either cancel or agree to pay the regular monthly charge.

Dammit. I finally got around to giving Ozark a try. So now I have plans for a while.

you will not be disappointed

I started watching The Good Fight on Amazon - I had resisted when it came out because it was pay only at first on CBS so I couldn't get my head around it yet and also I loved The Good Wife so much that I didn't want to be disappointed by its offshoot - but it's a great show, I forgot how much I like lawyer office ensembles - it's really good

I am in on "The Great" and "Yellowjackets". Both are very odd, and yet satisfying.

Yes I like Yellowjackets a lot - I am still deep in The Good Fight (it's so good) so those dropped episodes and The expanse dropped episode I will wait on lol

If anyone wants to discuss the last episode of Dexter, I am ready

Rewatching Cosmos with Neil DeGrasse Tyson. I saw it when it aired, but I forgot a lot so I'm relearning some interesting stuff.

I also needed a break from traditional TV shows. Before starting Cosmos, I watched some episodes about Egyptian tombs on NatGeo.

I find myself watching the New Detectives or Forensic Files on Pluto a lot. The whole first episode of Vienna Blood is on Amazon now. Only 3 full episodes per season. I find it a pretty good show. Racy for PBS, but so was Baptiste.

Ok. I binged most of Season 6 of the Expanse last night. I did not find it satisfying really. There is no way that was made that way unless there is a sequel. What was the point of the Laconia part? It seemed to me that it that it might be a spin off. I kept waiting for that storyline to tie in, which it barely did. Also, Filip pulling a Vader and getting away in the escape pod was more sequel stuff. Would not surprise me if they do something like Deadwood and wrap it up with a movie.

Is the original Cosmos streaming anywhere? We watched it in 6th grade when it was new. I know it's over 40 years old but it was very impactful for me. I would totally watch it again I think.

I re-watched it a few years ago after having thoroughly enjoyed its original broadcast as a high school student. It was maybe 15% less interesting/entertaining this time around. Perhaps it was because I retained a better memory of the original than I credited, but I found myself getting a bit impatient at times with Sagan's sometimes circuitous explanations.

He also didn't hit the 'b' in 'billions' quite as hard as I remembered either.

I won't admit it in public with my real name attached to it, but I'm enjoying the hell out of Peacemaker on HBO Max. It's worth watching for the opening title sequence alone.

There were, unfortunately, diminishing returns from Season 1 to 3.

Season 1 is pretty good on it's own though.

Season 2 of Stranger Things was really good. My only complaint was the story line with 11 meeting the other girl from the lab and her crew. That seemed to go sort of nowhere and was a waste of an episode.

We're just about done with season 3 now and this one has definitely gone off the rails, what with the Russians and the army of possessed people. Thankfully it's still enjoyable.

I watched the Suicide Squad movie with my college aged kids. They loved it. I found it weird and sad. The Starro part was really sad and I wanted Cena's character killed in that fight, not the other guy.

I'm going to buy season 5 on iTunes and start watching it this weekend. It's going to be cold this weekend here.

Been enjoying my subscription to Disney+, the Book of Boba Fett is the best!

Looking forward to season three of The Boys on Prime Video later this summer.
