2- contractor has caused issues because he won't listen
3- there's wet stuff falling from the sky which hasn't happened in about a month
4- tried a place I hadn't been to for a while for lunch yesterday - overpriced & not good, so it'll be another good while again
5- I'd like to be able to do 3 things very well instead of 10 things okay, but the workload increases & the staff number does not.

1) My to-do list has lots of small, one-off tasks on it. I don't know why I'm not getting those done.

2) It might have to do with the headache and crick in my neck from sleeping wrong last night.

3) Went shopping with my sister over the weekend - we both found what we needed.

4) Dad is so happy to have my sister here.

5) I need to figure out what's for dinner tonight. I won't be ordering a pizza!

3. There's no place like home.
4. My grandson is well-behaved and respects my belongings. I hope his upcoming sister acts the same.
5. As my coworker said, watching people install permeable pavers in a basin forebay is like watching paint dry.

1. Turkey is not my favorite and only cook once a year but my Popeye's cajun turkey in the freezer will be a welcome change.
2. Off tomorrow to make up for yesterday.
3. Either blasting or National Guard training is going on.
4. Is it still bad grammar to end a sentence with a preposition?
5. I really don't care.

Years ago I went to a technical school for drafting. The instructor was getting annoyed at some kids who went shooting and were talking about all the cool guns they shot. So he said you can go home early if you've every fired something with a bigger calibur than I have. This was unheard of!!! Leaving class early. The kids quickly listed all the guns they shot with the teacher just shaking his head and many times explaining that that one uses the same round. When they were done I just looked at him and said, you were army right? So you fired a 50 cal. The look on the kids faces as I'm beginning my argument with a 50 cal. So how about 76mm? Have a nice day. As I was leaving I hear, what's a 76mm? The teacher just answered. Artiliary. Happened to be my ships gun.

I've never made a waffle at a hotel breakfast bar.

Breakfast eavesdropping - the lawyers are involved and this will have huge ramifications on ALL the projects.

I get to go home today.

I'm working at home the rest of the week.

My town's Christmas parade Thursday evening. If I went to work, I wouldn't get home before the streets close.

1. I'm generally a fan of hotel breakfast bars
2. Actually I'm a fan of most any bar in general

5. No computer games for me.

2) There were 4 other casseroles on the list!

3) Had a community meeting last night. Long drive home afterwards.

4) Sunny and nice today. Wish I could be outside.

5) I tried to get in the holiday mood with Christmas music. Didn't work.

1- working hours yesterday were: 7:45am-5:00pm & 9:30pm-11:30pm & today's are 4:30am-6:30am & 8:00 am-5:00pm
2- waterline tie-ins for the downtown project caused it
3- Mrs. P is placing the order for the new wall oven to the tune of $2500 (looks like that's our anniversary present to us)
4- looking like we'll have 3 t-givings on 3 different days
5- I'd rather have honey-baked ham instead of turkey.

1- my back was not in a cooperative mood over the weekend, but it has finally eased off by this morning
2- made a (surprisingly excellent) Creamy Tuscan Chicken recipe for dinner last night

4- weird dreams over the last 2 nights
5- looks like The Girl is coming for Thanksgiving after all

1. Two-day workweek (Tues-Wed).
2. Five days off after!

4. Will also be cooking the traditional sausage and apple stuffing (no bird stuffing :disappointed" as per Mrs.) cranberry jello, and sweet potatoes in brown sugar, that I grew up with.
5. Oldest son asked his long-term girlfriend to marry him - she said yes. I suspect that her family - Polynesian, throws one hell of a wedding party.

2. Was hoping to take tomorrow off to start prep for Thanksgiving, but looks like I'll need to come in for half a day probably.
3. I have a slow cooker stuffing recipe that I've been using for over a decade.

You are short two.

Dog Puppy GIF

4. We also host a Black Friday brunch, which is a mix of the same people from Thanksgiving mixed with some friends.
5. Sold my Lion's tickets for the Thanksgiving game. It's the only game I don't go to. I made enough money selling them to almost cover the cost of 2 out of our 4 season tickets.

1) Pick up my catering order tomorrow - all I'm cooking is a turkey breast and rolls.

2) Should be a quiet holiday - just Hubby, Dad and myself.

3) I have a couple of reports to work on, but really have no desire to research right now.

4) Will start working on a code update for a jurisdiction next week.

5) I'm ready for a nap. Or a drink. Maybe both.

1. Had Thanksgiving last weekend.
2. Headed to our first Christmas market of the year on Friday.
3. Hoping to take advantage of the Black Friday online sales to buy some clothing for the residents of Pine Ridge.
4. Got into a WhatsApp disagreement with the mother of one of Itty Bitty's classmates about a class performance they have scheduled on MLK Day.
5. Brrr. And it isn't even that cold.

1) We are thinking about getting a new TV for our family room and moving the old TV into the game room for the kids. Something bigger for me to watch hockey and This Old House on.
2) The Christmas season really kicks off tonight for our community with the Tree Lighting. Parade is next week.
3) I just realize that I don't know of any other Christmas related events beyond the Town sponsored ones.
4) I am doing all the cooking on Thursday... Tomorrow night we will go out to dinner... I think pizza.
5) I have been researching plant options for the back yard. I am going to plant more tropical plants that grow in Zone 8 next to the pool.

1. I know what I'd grow if I lived in Zone 8.....PEANUTS!
2. I planted the garlic last night. In the dark. And it was cold and raining.
3. Open enrollment is a PIA
4. There aren't enough wind up toys these days
5. Eager for Thanksgiving weekend

1- over T-giving weekend, I saw my 88-year-old uncle had bought a brand-new Mustang GT
2- a little dusting of snow this morning
3- council tonight should be short but will probably have a list of complainers in open comments
4- my brother doesn't like to get books for his birthday, so I sent his gift (not a book) in a box that I got a book in from Barnes & Noble
5- have an option to go to ACC Championship football game, but I don't care about either team & it's going to be in the low 40s/high 30s - undecided right now.

1. Had a generally enjoyable Thanksgiving
2. Wish I had more time for recreational activities
3. Ho hum (with an emphasis on hum)
4. meeting scheduled today at 3:00
5. Today is Tuesday and for dinner we are actually having......TACOS!

1) Went on a tour of the High School today. To say it is amazing does not do it service. I have been on college campuses that are less impressive. They have nursing, broadcast operations, culinary arts, robotics, welding, aviation maintenance, aviation operations all as regular programs, in addition to the regular 3 "R"s. The building is only 7 years old and it was over $100 million to construct, and they just completed a $5 million addition onto it.

2) Wife has been sick almost a week now. She went to the doctor today and they ruled out Flu, Strep, and COVID. It was so bad, she slept through "THE GAME" on Saturday. Given how loud I, and thus the dog, was, I don't know how she was able to sleep.

3) I need to pick up a cartage for a 1400 series Delta shower faucet today on my way home from work. The kids shower has a drip and it was likely installed in 1997 or 1998.

4) We had a meeting with our Fire Department today. Our traffic engineer and I are 100% on the same page regarding good multimodal street design, road diets, and better vehicle and pedestrian safety. I don't think they appreciated me asking the question if designing for the largest vehicle in their fleet was a local policy or fire code. (I knew the answer but it needed to be asked).

5) I am excited. There is already money in the budget for me to attend the Conference in Denver in the spring!

1- last night's public hearings went better than I expected, but one was still long with lots of negative comments
2- dreary foggy cool day here today, sorta like a Scottish summer day
3- still need presents for Mrs. P & some ideas from her would help too
4- our mayor is a decent guy & he always ends our conversations with "is there anything I can do for you." Sometime soon I'm going to pull out a long paper list
5- I was told I might have to resurrect a dead horse buried over in the corner so we (the council) can beat it again

1. Dad having sciatica problems; mom will fly in to attend Mrs. STTG RN graduation.
2. Still mild weather - no snow on ground; mountains, yes.
3. New toilet goes in tomorrow in guest bathroom - how the first one broke I do not know.
4. FiL is 76, today.
5. Mrs. STTG loves to give IVs.

1- I think I'm down to needing to buy about 4 or 5 small things to finish up shopping
2- there's a local civil engineer who tries to slide stuff past us on plans & I'm glad we've got an OCD guy doing the resubmittal reviews
3- Mrs. P makes great soups & it's soup kind of weather too
4- our new oven (which turned out to be our anniversary gift to us) is supposed to be delivered & installed tomorrow
5- the oven is a built-in double oven & I don't even want to attempt to install it myself, especially since there will need be to be "an adjustment" to make it fit.

1. Mrs. Maister will discuss slightly scary mammogram results with the doctor and do a biopsy today
2. Why does it seem like Mrs. Maister has a health scare crisis every December?
3. Discovered a new (to me, anyways) pizza place last night. It reminds me of old school Dominoes circa 1974.
4. I really haven't been in the state of mind for gift shopping I'm sad to report
5. Mooses.

1. Monday off next week as usual.
2. Tuesday and Wednesday off for Christmas.
3. Taking Thursday and Friday off.
4. Accounts for 10 days, including weekends, out of the office.
5. I can live with that.

1. I have 4 gifts to buy.
2. My daughter is closing on a house Dec. 27.
3. I have good Christmas spirit this year.
4. I'm pining for a road trip.
5. The weather is mild here, but not mild enough to sleep on my porch.

1. Christmas luncheon at city hall today.
2. I'm pretty sure I have all of my Christmas shopping done.
3. Made it to the playoffs in both of my fantasy football leagues.
4. I'm here all week and on Monday.
5. I loved Christmas when my daughters were young, but I'm actually starting to enjoy it even more now that they're 21 and 18. It just seems less stressful for some reason.

1) There are a ton of fireworks going on at the old job and the citizens are really starting to get ticked. I don't see this ending well for some of the elected officials come election time.
2) Had a bit of a health issue early this fall that has caused me to gain a lot of weight. I didn't realize how bad it was until I went to put on my tool belt to do some work around the house and it was way too tight. For the rest of the year I am doing an 80% 20% approach (eat healthy 80% of the time...) and then after the first of the year dig in and go 95% eating healthy. Too many work lunches for 100%. I also joined a nice, but expensive gym. I am cheap enough that if I am spending that much, I am going to try to be in there almost every freaking day to get every dollar of value out of it.
3) The to-do list for the new house continues to grow. Some of it I am looking forward to doing. Other stuff- not so much. One such item is changing out the lighting in the dinning room. The previous owners used it as a hair salon and put in very bright LED can lights.
4) We had a gas main explode last night because of a lighting strike. I had never heard of that before, but it did. No one was hurt and it was in the landscaped median, but there are a bunch of people who have no power and no gas this morning.
5) I am only taking Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve (GO BLUE) and New Years Day off.

1. Last meetings of the year are today but I've got Planning Commission and City Council back to back.
2. Taking off the 27th and 30th. I'd love to take more, but too much to do.
3. Meeting with contractors at the end of the week to see how much our remodel of the home will be. I don't think my wife quite understands what it will run.
4. Gifts from contractors, engineers, and surveyors just started rolling in. Sausage, cookies, chocolate covered pecans, and dry roasted nuts. All well within the ethics limits and shared by everyone, but...
5. My weight loss from earlier in the year is going the wrong way and now that I've been down a bit I can feel it.

1) WFH today because the power company cut the power to our building.

2) By the time it came back up, I'd returned home, set up the home office, and was researching a report. No I'm not coming back today.

3) Starting Friday, people are dropping like flies before the holidays.

4) I used mine all up except for 1 day, so I'm taking it on the 26th.

5) I'm ready for a new dog.

1. One more present to buy and I'll be ready for the holidays.
2. 50F is not Christmas weather.
3. I told Itty Bitty there is an evil elf who reports back to Santa on kids who are fresh and rude to their grown-ups.
4. Started rewatching Just Shoot Me.
5. Gotta find time to see Wicked with Itty Bitty.

1) It’s Christmas Eve and the wife is at work. I am going to go to the gym and then run some errands.
2) Our mailbox is built into a brick pillar and does not have a latch. During heavy rain, water gets in. I found out today that you can buy aftermarket latches for these!
3) I took steaks out for dinner for tonight. Trying to decide if I want to do Ham or a Roast for tomorrow night. (Yes, I do all the cooking in the house)
4) Our church has a candlelight service at 4:00 PM… it will still be light when we get out.
5) I am planning some big landscaping changes for the new house.

1- 2 of the items of tonight's agenda might take an hour each. the rest about 20 minutes (I hope)
2- doesn't seem like there's a lot of people out and about today
3- dealing with a medical bill that should have been paid this summer but wasn't
4- my Planning Commission chair resigned in order to spend more time with his grandkids - which I applaud & he was a good one - but does 1 night a month take that much time
5- 1 of the springs has sprung on our garage door, gotta make a phone call.

1) Might snow starting tomorrow night!

2) My office inclement weather policy is tied to the large ISD - so be prepared to WFH if school's called off.

3) Did not sleep well last night. I am dragging today.

4) A couple of coworkers may be moving their desks later today. Might be noisy.

5) On site tomorrow and have to drive an extra 30 minutes to get there. Yuck.

1) This stupid Conflict of Nations WW3 game on my phone is demanding too much of my time and attention. I enjoy a good strategy game but it looks like I'm pulling the plug
2) We're having breakfast for dinner tonight. Mrs. Maister had a dentist appointment and something soft like pancakes is in order
3) I didn't make a certain New Years resolution this year because it's so cliche, but I'm seriously wondering if I should have anyways
4) Junior had covid and we ended up observing the opening of Christmas presents late with Junior this year so he could join us
5) The department needs a new camera. No, I am NOT using my own phone. That sh*t can be subpoenaed
