Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Tuesday

1. Gedunker is sounding a little like ursus, talking about styling hair.
2. I'm not falling asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow these days, and can't explain it.
3. I miss hearing the birds singing when I wake up in the morning.
4. They don't have anything to sing about this late in the summer.
5. When our office moves in a few weeks, my commute is going to be longer.
 
1. Wonder why you don't hear any bluegrass/Indian fusion music? Sitar and banjo seem like they were made for each other.
2. Absolve does NOT mean exactly the same thing as forgive.
3. I like caper flicks like The Sting, Oceans 11, and the Great Escape
4. First day of 2nd grade for Junior. He was pretty fired up this morning. I'm glad he still likes school
5. Nostalgia is often overrated
 
1. Sore and stiff from this weekend
2. It was not pleasurable to get this way either
3. Work is kinda relaxing today & quiet
4. Oh boy, lunchtime!!!

1. nice long weekend with an RJ Friday in there
2. kids made sure I didn't have any quiet time, but that's okay
3. latest complaint from the village idiot, close long standing conference center in a floodplain that is supported by church and sheriff

1. Started the day with a memorial service for a cherished family friend.
2. Have a headache from crying so much at the memorial service.
3. Dogs are happy because I'm home the rest of the day.
4. Need to do some housework, but I'm in a downer mood and think a nap is the way to go.
5. Hubby might be on his own for dinner - I think I'll still be apathetic come dinnertime.

3. Saw a good friend this weekend, and was happy that she seems to be doing so well.

2. I was denied access to a property; I had a complaint to investigate.
3. I met a municipal engineer about a different problem; I can't remember his name.
4. My vehicle inspection expired. (Well, that was Saturday.)
5. I'm still pretty irritated. See #2.

4. This means she was asleep when I got home and I was asleep when she left

1. Mrs. Hink and I do this often. We have a record of 5 days not seeing each other awake.
2. Council meeting tonight. It will be interesting.
3. We have 3 Speedways in my jurisdiction. That seems like a lot.
4. I like it when Mrs. Hink has good days at work.
5. I wish I had more good days at work.
 
1. We're getting a lot of plans for Speedways.
2. They're really pleased when you tell them that they applied for the WRONG NPDES permit.

4. My son wants to learn to play banjo.
5. I like listening to live Bluegrass, but don't like it as much if I buy the CD and play it.
 
1. Got a phone call from daycare this morning. That's never good.
2. Toddler Midori smacked his teacher in the face and got sent to the office. :-c
3. I'm never sure what to do when I get a call like that. :-$:(
4. We've been in a parenting class at church, which I went into with skepticism.
5. Turns out it's more like a support group for parents where we tell stories about our failures. It's helpful in a weird way.

4. Good news from the attorney handling my uncle's estate. Folks, if you own anything please make sure you have a duly executed will, preferably not one from the internets.
5. Still waiting to hear back from the interview I had 2 weeks ago. No decision has been made yet.

1. I wonder what it's like to be an extrovert. I somehow doubt they walk around all day saying "oh man, this is great interacting with all these people, and with so much confidence too!..."

1) Started applying to other jobs locally yesterday
2) The "backlog" of projects here isn't filling in, and it has become relatively stagnant after several very large projects have been put on hold due to federal permitting issues
3) It never hurts to have a Plan B, I guess.
4) Still frustrating since I do love my job, but I have no desire to be laid off if things out of my control do not improve.
5) At least I have a cute doggie and wonderful girlfriend to cheer me up when I come home :)
 
1. It's full gear conference time!
2. I found out I have to not wear contacts for 10 weeks before having a consultation for Lasik.
3. I have probably not worn glasses during the day more than 5 times in the last 3 years.
4. Until today. :hm:

1. I get to meet Safelight technicians at my work twice this week, for my car and my husband's.
2. My car is looking... not very classy... windshield moulding needs replaced and no wash/no rain makes for a sad, dirty looking old car.
2. We're planning a Halloween party, I hope a lot of people will show up.
3. It'll be kid-friendly since we'd otherwise have to find somewhere for our son to go, which would be kinda strange, and it seems like over half of our friends have kids these days anyway.
4. Halloween party means I don't have to worry about all the spiderwebs on the gutters, yippie.
 
1. I thought of something to write here yesterday and was saving it for today
2. Now I can't remember it - damn old age
3. The Girl loved the consultant swag I brought home from the conference
4. Mrs. P locked herself out of the house this weekend (for the 1st time)
5. She had been planning on putting a key outside somewhere but hadn't done it yet - it's done now.
 
1. Today my youngest turned 17.
2. I'm just about settled in my new office.
3. I have the best office space of anyone here.
4. It's a good reward for being housed in the conference room for 3 years.
5. I can't wait to get back outside.

1. I'm not a real cady junkie, but good chocolate is nice.
2. The worst chocolate are those little foil wrapped Santa Claus and easter eggs chocolates.
3. We had a fire in the fireplace last night. It was nice and atmospheric
4. I still haven't harvested the last batch of tomatoes. I need to quit procrastinating and do that tonight
5. I enjoy a nice calendar with monthly pictures that depict the appropriate seasonal scenes for the month.

5. The Citizen of the Year plaque fell and broke a Lenox box that my aunt gave me. The box meant more to me than the plaque did.

  1. I killed myself finishing a grant app yesterday that I received no help on only to find out how I was input into the system that I could not submit it last night. Naturally my boss was locked out of the system and couldn't override it.
  2. The baby must stop this waking up at 2 or 3am business and wanting to sleep in her chair rather than go back in the crib. The Man and I are on opposite sides of this issue-he thinks she should go back in her crib and scream it out (she will not sleep in the bed with us) and I think if she calms down and goes to sleep in the chair at least we are all sleeping.
  3. I have a meeting at 2pm with the housing/economic development office where I live. They want to discuss more opportunities to build affordable for sale housing there, I'd just settle for the MOU on the project we agreed to over the summer. They suggested that they want us to employee some city residents, and when it was pointed out that I lived there they said I wasn't exactly what they had in mind since I am white.
  4. RT got the only A on the geography midterm exam, I am proud of her.
  5. I need another cup of coffee.
 
1. It's a rainy day and I didn't sleep well, so
2. I've been doing online holiday shopping, and
3. dealing with issues related to the kid's upcoming move, and
4. had mac and cheese for lunch because it's getting cooler, and
5. I guess I won't be taking the car to get serviced today.

2. The leaves are almost at their peak of fall color here.
3. I need to plan in some hiking.
4. I don't feel so much stressed as anxious, just knowing things are going to change significantly in my work life, but not knowing when or how.
5. Anxiety manifests in hair falling out, weight loss, and waking at night here. Need to get on that hiking plan.

2. I had forgotten I had deltoids.
3. I desperately want to get back into shape.
4. I just have so little motivation to care about it.
5. But I should, as I gain weight much easier than I can ever lose it.

Woot woot! Just got a call from tech support for the grant interface saying that there were widespread technical issues in the interface from 10pm-Midnight and that they saw the logs where I was kicked off repeatedly. Vindication for me towards my boss who thought I was just being tardy to the party. Umm no. Application being reopened for two hours :)
