Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Tuesday

Probably not. We had one this year too and they are pretty good about keeping 'em relatively clean, if stinky. They fledge really fast and then they are gone. I didn't know this previously, but they do not reuse old nests. :h:

Really? A few weeks ago, we had a robin using a nest that was previously occupied, last year, by a house finch. Five young could barely fit into the nest by the time they fledged. Maybe robins just don't reuse their own nests.

I'm sure there's an app for Uneducated Mouthy Ones Bingo that you could play with coworkers. If not, I see an opportunity.

Edit: Oh my gosh. There is actually a Walmart Bingo app for android. It has squares like "butt crack," "drinking something," "unattended kid," and "tramp stamp."

Ha. I wish. I looked at their website; it sure has grown since I was there almost a half century ago.

1. The weather is much better today.
2. I have to cook bacon for a quiche tonight. Mmmmmm...
3. The dog and I got back from a walk and found a snake stretched out by the front door.
4. The kid let us in thru the garage and chased the snake away.
5. We've got a bunch of bunnies in the yard this year. Maybe that's why the snake is here.:-c
 
1. Definitely more planning jobs out there the last few months, but wow, the pay sure is crappy for most.
2. Looks like our elected officials will be taking another whack at reducing benefits for employees at their next meeting.
3. I am struggling mightily with motivation at work and I really don't know what the answer is.
4. I lost many hours of comp time on July 1 because we are not allowed to carry a balance into the new fiscal year.
5. I'm seeing a theme in my thoughts today. :-{
 
1. Was out at a meeting until almost 9 last night and missed seeing Toddler Midori before bed. :(
2. Almost missed seeing Toddler Midori before having to leave for work this morning. Got a quick hug.
3. Will be out late at a meeting again tonight.
4. Felt so awful this morning I almost took a pregnancy test. :-c
5. Decided that was crazy and I'd rather not know anyway.

3. The countdown to vacation is going very slowly

1. I was briefly interviewed by 3 TV news stations today.
2. Only one of them broadcast the story, and and the reporter got many of the facts wrong. :r:
3. That doesn't bode well for the future of journalism.
4. I love when my clients are happy.
5. I came home in a good mood, even after I discovered that our roof had leaked again.
 
1 - connecting airport was Chicago
2 - had leftovers for lunch - turkey loaf on rye
3 - airline did not lose my 1 checked bag
4 - I thought it was worth the $33 to double my frequent flyer miles
5 - return flight from Chicago was half full.

I got some blueberries from a stand near my office to go with my oatmeal and share with my co owrkers
I need a haircut and color
I wore the wrong bra with this dress so my bra strap continually shows
I wish I could visit dandy
 
1. It's amazing to what extent, um, certain thoughts/impulses can dominate your thinking when you, um, haven't done something in a while
2. everything to do with cottage cheese is kind of disgusting
3. the underlying principle of cheese is pretty wierd and disgusting if you stop and think about it
4. funny, all the time you hear people use the phrase 'piano/violin virtuoso' but you never hear the best banjo players referred to as 'virtuosos'
5. I will be out of town Thurs and Fri
 
1. I have to fix the curtains my daughter pulled down last night - she asked so politely
2. I might actually do some work today
3. Thursday I have my 1 year review
4. I also get to see what the plumbers say about my bathroom Thursday
5. House is just about settled in, we just need to hang pictures.

4. I don't like taking drugs, not even recreational ones.
5. Except alcohol, I do like my beer..and tequila...and scotch...and bourbon...and so forth
 
1. I went grocery shopping in the middle of the day with my husband today.
2. We almost never do that anymore because of the differences in our work schedules and days off.
3. I love this almost-fall weather... I tend to wilt in the heat & humidity.
4. I'm actually not dreading a trip to the dentist tomorrow.
5. Maybe I'll have a glass of wine with whatever it is I'm having for dinner tonight.
 
  1. Therapist is apparently one of my "other duties assigned" in the job description.
  2. I was quite useful on a job site today locating a vent register that was covered over by flooring. It wasn't located as per the plan, but a little reckoning and some tapping with a hammer to find the hollow helped.
  3. Called the architect out of preference vs. code on my money pit project. I was right and it will save $10K. It's still a money pit, but I didn't pick the site!
  4. I have a 10am meeting with fiscal tomorrow. I am thinking about calling in sick.
  5. Phone interview on Thursday afternoon. Better gig with a wider scope of work in a lower cost area and a few dollars more. FINGERS CROSSED.

4. I've been gaining/losing the last ten pounds for the last year and a half and very grouchy about that.
5. Started school shopping for the kiddo last night, crazy how clothes for her cost more than mine.
 
1. Slow day at work today. Good. I needed a break after last week.
2. Hit the gym last night and did more weight than in 3 years on squat. Almost 36 and still strong as ever!
3. Funny thing is, I'm not even that sore today.
4. Just finished catching up on The Walking Dead last night. Ready for Season 4!
5. Took car in for an oil change yesterday and ended up spending $700 on new brakes. Ugh!
 
1. The overtime well feels like it's going to dry up.
2. The drive home at 6:30 is much less congested.
3. Mild weather is refreshing.
4. Still don't know what to make for dinner.

1. I'm getting tired of all this rain--I don't remember the last day it did not rain.
2. My one-week vacation started at the end of today's workday.
3. Lots of busy work tomorrow to prepare for our flight to the left coast on Thursday.
4. I got the one up on the public works director today.
5. ZG modeled potential outfits this afternoon for my son's wedding this weekend--she looked hot. :h:

2. We have a noobie planner starting on Monday. I'm looking forward to some relief from my too large work load.
3. I helped out on some deed research today and my have just found an error that is costing someone hundreds of dollars because she is paying taxes on property that she does not appear to own since 2006 (worst deed ever, the lawyer who wrote it should be shamed)
4. My town just got a big award, now the manager is promising ice cream...hopefully he comes through! :)
5. Booking tix to go home in a month for my sister's bridal shower and my nephew's superhero birthday party.

3. The Girl fell back asleep on the way to her grandparents this morning

i. This is Post 500 in the Five Things Tuesday thread.
ii. I am trying to convince my soon to be 14 year old daughter to try a little style to her hair as she heads out for a haircut. She wears it straight and long and it looks lifeless.
iii. What the hell do I know about girls' hair style?
iv. I get my hair cut every three weeks or so with a "Zero Guide" - not quite shaved but real tight to the scalp. Mostly because it is receding on all fronts ...
v. < Did you know that lower case Roman Numerals are called "Romanettes"?
