Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Tuesday

4. The Girl dropped a class because the professor came in total disarray, couldn't work technology, dropped a stack of papers & said there would be pop quizzes throughout the semester. She said she couldn't shake that image and picked up another class.
Sophomore year in college I signed up for the required Biology 101. Not my strong subject and prophase, metaphase, anaphase, etc. drove me to think and speak not nice things. Dropped the class and knew this particular professor was the kind that wanted all students to become a biologist. I knew of another professor who was much easier on the brain and he taught Bio 101 to students living in the dorms. Fast forward to next semester. In the main dorm building where he taught the class just happened to be the building I cleaned daily and even set up the tables and chairs for the class. Was supposed to be dorm residents only but I asked him if I could add the class. I said I took so and so's class but was told you "explain concepts better." Cover language for the other professor was impossible. His response was "glad you said it that way and I'll add you." Went from a class with 500 students to 30.

I have been working a 9/80, covid work from home 80%, or a three-day weekend 4/10 (two day wfh) for close to 15 years. I would find it very difficult to go back to in-office M-F and would likely submit a respectful protest.

1) Received a call during lunch from someone asking if I would be willing to accept a cash offer for our house. I responded yes, as long as it is $$$$$. The number I came up with is 3 times more than the assessed value of the property and 6 times more than what we bought it for. She indicated that she will check with her team and get back to me. If they accept it, it would be the most expensive sale in our neighborhood by 50%. Reality is we don't want to sell our house, but for the right price I will pack up.
2) The weather outside today is very nice. It is mostly sunny and in the mid 70's with very low humidity.
3) I was under the weather this past weekend and spent more time sleeping on Saturday than I have in a very long time. I really needed it though.
4) I am both optimistic and pessimistic regarding the future.
5) I ordered a new pair of black dress shoes. Exact same thing that I have now, just new since the others are worn out. Went to put them on this morning to discover that they sent me an extra wide. I already contacted the company to do an exchange.

I received an inquiry about my rental property and told them to make me an offer. They did and it was almost double what I thought it was worth. I considered it up unto the point that my wife reminded me that my displaced tenants would then be living in my house, as we rent it out to my daughter and her family.

4. While we can certainly take some lessons from Europe, all the armchair planners need to realize that our development patterns are way different in lots of places for many reasons. Let's make sure we're comparing apples to apples.
5. I have a ridiculous amount of PTO at my disposal. I like having a big cushion but I need to plan some more time off. Buffett announcing some new tour dates would help with that!
