Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Friday

1. I'm burning vacation days this month, and today is one of them.
2. My kitchen is full of sweet things to eat, but nothing savory and I'm hungry.
3. Speaking of sweets, Cookie Tour happens in my little downtown is tonight.
4. I'm still mad about the time a little girl snatched the last cookie from my grasp.
5. The town's holiday house tour is tomorrow night. That's one oversized group of nosy, festive women.
 
1. Met my new boss today
2. Looks like I made an favorable first impression
3. Just not in the Christmas spirit this year
4. Did my first non church related camera work yesterday
5. I'm enjoying my jazz Christmas station on Pandora way too much.
 
1. Mrs. P had to be at work early this morning. I was not able to go back to sleep after her alarm went off.
2. Was at a workshop yesterday and it was nice to see some people I only see once a year.
3. Pizza tonight!
4. I walked to lunch today & people thought I was crazy - it was only 6 blocks and it was sunny, why not?
5. 20 more shopping days!
 
1. HR showed up in my office at 7:50 this morning. :r:
2. I had one of those "I wish I had a blue light" moments yesterday :-{
3. Trying to take our 19 page Permitted Use Chart down to 4 pages :-o
4. Had dinner with some friends last night that we hadn't seen in several months :)
5. I have a bunch of old planning books I have no idea what to do with :-x

2. Junior has a social studies test today. I think he's prepared
3. I'm still sick
4. I'm sick of being sick (if you know what I mean)
5. I think maybe 'Christmas Carol' (Patrick Stewart) is in order tonight too
 
1) City wide employee holiday luncheon today. Whee.
2) Hubby is off today. I'd be mad except he's going to spend all afternoon with the contractor at the house fixing more than one electrical problem.
3) I really want a nap. I haven't been sleeping well and am ready for a sleep-late day.
4) Christmas shopping - bah humbug!
5) Where's the tidings of good will I'm supposed to be felling? Is it gone because I'm just too tired to care?
 
1) Child #3 was not in a good mood this morning, but after the fight to get him dressed was over, he became Mr. Happy Guy. '
2) One weather report said that it will hit 80 here on Sunday. :-| :D 8-! :lmao: :h: I am going to be wearing shorts all weekend. Yes... shorts in December! FREAKING AWESOME!
3) I was on the phone with a developer this morning, and I have 4 phone calls try to beep in during my 10 minute conversation. I will check the voice mails after lunch.
4) Inlaws are coming to visit on memorial day weekend. Please pray for me.
5) Wife took my truck to the store last night because it needed gas. She says that she likes her crossover better because mine is too big for normal parking spaces.
 
1) I hate when it so humid that everything feels wet but it hasn't rained.
2) Just not feeling the Christmas spirit this year :santa:

*BTW, there was no snow on the ground the night before this pic was taken, and this was taken sometime before 6am and it was way below zero.
 
1. I have a headache, which is rare for me.
2. Weather in the 70's this weekend. Ah, December in Pennsylvania. :h:
3. This might be a year without a Christmas tree.
4. Daughter is coming home for Christmas, and no one wants to have her dog in their house.
5. I only work 3 more days this month. :D
 
1) Can't find the christmas tree, so we are going without this year. I have enough other decorations to at least have some holiday cheer in the house, but just can't find the dang tree.
2) Had my review yesterday. Survived, but have learned that my supervisor and I see a few things differently - but there is common ground to build on.
3) Office party last night was fun.
4) Next week is a short week, and also the movers are coming to load/unload the case file boxes. We're all including some other boxes as well - clearly labeled for personal cubes.
5) I think I'm done with present shopping. I only had to go to the mall for one thing!

1. Ate Mexican food last night too late & had weird dreams all night
2. Spilled a convenience store soda (big gulp size) all over my desk this morning. Good thing nobody was here because there was some cussing (out loud)
3. A friend of ours commented that the Middle School band concert last night wasn't nearly as painful as he'd thought it would be
4. Cold snap this weekend with the highs only in the 50s. Christmas Day is supposed to be over 70.
5. Just a couple more purchases left to take care of (a few for family and 1 more for SS victim)
 
1) We are giving our nanny a $100 Christmas Bonus. Which is ok because we only need her to watch the kids 2 days next week and one day the following week. Kids are going to get her something over the weekend too.
2) Part of me wants to sell my Yukon and buy a crew cab silverado. But the wife wants a big vehicle for long distance traveling and a smaller vehicle for running around town.
3) Watched a very cool program on the Coliseum last night. (LINK TO PBS)
4) Miniskis received mostly drawing stuff for his birthday.
5) I am going to need some tums or something. I fear that I have and will continue to eat too much today.
 
1. Someone gave me a $100 gift card to the local supermarket. I used it to buy 5 Amazon gift cards, and shopping is about done. I also got double fuel perks for buying the cards.
2. I've shopped small all day. Someone here will benefit from it.
3. I still don't have a Christmas tree.
4. For the first time in 30+ years, I don't live in a house on a busy road.
5. Many of the food we like probably had their beginnings as mistakes.
 
1. It's January 8th and we're only just over 200 posts on the Random '16 thread. Hink has got a lot of work to do.
2. It's got a little bit warmer every day this week
3. The Girl said Pink is her favorite Starburst flavor; mine too
4. It's kinda hard to convince DOT to allow something out of the norm - but should be worth it
5. I went to the airport 9 times last year, only twice did it involve me flying.
 
  1. It's raining. I am not a fan of cold rainy days.
  2. I've got to go visit a couple sites. I am not a fan of visiting sites on cold rainy days.
  3. It's been relatively uneventful this morning. I am a fan of uneventful days in the office.
  4. The Carolina Panther fans are coming out of the woodwork. I am not a fan of pro-football, nor a fan of fairweather fans.
  5. The Carolina Hurricanes are next to last in their division. I am a fan of pro-hockey and a fan of any fan that sticks with a time with a less than stellar season.
 
1) Denied a new house application. They were trying to fit 20 lbs of flower into a 5 lb sack.
2) My sister and brother in law learned that rental cars and toll roads are not a good mix. $2.00 toll turned into a $35.00 fee. *It is an automated toll so there is no way to pay it at the toll booth.
3) My lunchtime todo list is stupid long.
4) Hockey game tonight with Miniskis. It is the boyscouts night. I am not going to wear my den leader uniform and may consume a beverage.
5) Some unmentioned december spending has resulted in my January budget being a bit out of whack.
 
1) Spent some time in the file room rearranging the already-filed files to find some room for new files.
2) Put up some nice pictures of bluebonnets in my cube. Brings a little outside into the cube-ness of my world.
3) Couple people unexpectedly out + a couple people scheduled out = quiet office.
4) Have a walking food tour scheduled this weekend! Will be chilly but not rainy, perfect for walking.
5) Ready for that upcoming 3-day weekend later this month, because the office move is ongoing and I feel unsettled.
 
1. Even with taking 3 days last week I still have 233 vacation hours accrued.
2. I swear I take time off from work but I guess I need to take more.
3. I think I may splurge and pay someone to detail the inside of my car. I don't have the patience to clean out all those little cracks and crevices.
4. It's less than 8 weeks until March and we have had no snow yet. I'm fine with that.
5. My friend offered me a free ticket to the Redskin's playoff game. It will be my first NFL game since 1997. I'm VERY happy it will be about 55 degrees warmer than it will be in Minnesota.
 
1. Hovering around 180 vacation hours accrued
2. Had a California style pizza for lunch
3. The Cali pizza was the only way I could square pizza consumption with my New Years resolution
4. Gotta go do sidewalk inspections
5. Gotta radio show tomorrow

1. The last day I posted in this thread was the first day of my long December vacation.
2. It's too bad that the cafe across the street from me isn't grilling up steaks.
3. Tomorrow is outside light take-down day, and should take all of 5 minutes.
4. We have a state senator whose first name is "Camera".
5. I'm glad the week is over, and sad that the weekend will soon be over.
 
1. It's raining here today. Cold, wet nasty kind of day.
2. My back tightened up last night, but has eased up slightly today. Just slightly.
3. There are a couple engineers around here who are 'problem kids' & I wish we could charge double on their projects
4. Due to holidays, teacher work days and field trips, The Girl is in school only one day next week.
5. AG, our new Walmart grocery opens at the end of the month. I wish it had been another HT
 
1) We are going out to dinner tonight YEA! First time this week.
2) It is raining today. It is depressing. At least there will be beer and wings in my future.
3) Youtube, competitive dads, and pine wood derby. Now that is a good time. Might even let the kids be involved. Now to find a medial scale to get it as close to 5oz as possible.
4) I am still looking for my garden/aquarium combination for my office... still no good ideas.
5) I am going to buy a t-shirt this weekend.
 
1) Applicant changes plan at last minute. Supervisor says just update summary page, big boss says rewrite entire report. Supervisor won.
2) Great weather here - sunny, low to mid 60's, light breeze. Great day to walk to lunch!
3) Holiday weekend for me, not for Hubby.
4) No plans for the weekend days - will probably be doing my own thing while he watches football.
5) Sleeping in tomorrow!!
 
1. We have a lot to celebrate. We are finally building a house.
2. There are still a number of hoops to jump through. Like an appraisal.
3. I hope that doesn't put us behind though.
4. Weekend without a soccer game. I want to play.

1) Spending some more time in the file room putting in forgotten files.
2) Had a flurry of submittal activity here this week. Active case list increased, and several resubmittals/comments addressed.
3) No big plans for the weekend. Am thinking of trying a new restaurant a coworker recommended.
4) Finished HIMYM and am debating what to start next. Have several things queued up, but need to determine my mood, and what goes with my crochet project.
5) We've decided to seriously consider getting a pet. I'm thinking cat simply because of our work schedule, but hubby wants a dog (I love dogs too). But a dog would require way more attention and schedule changes, all of which would fall on me.

2. City offices are closed
3. Three day (snowy) weekend
4. Sledding in the park will occur later in the day
5. Forecast is calling for over 8" to 14" of snow before it's over
 
1) we have a mix between freezing rain and snow. Everything is closed and the wife is working at the hospital.
2) Sheriff deputy just showed up at my door. He had the wrong address. I hope he is not delivering bad news.
3) kids are being crazy. I think it may be time for a nap.
4) today is giving me a day to get caught up on stuff
5) I may open a beer at 3:00 PM today.
 
1. Ready for snowpocalypse, We have enough alcohol and bacon and I found the snow shovel.
2. This work day will end on a sad note.
3. My desk is buried in paperwork.
4. I found a spare filing cabinet in a locked room, if I empty it then I can have it. The problem is it's buried behind 30 boxes of files.
5. I am looking forward to the snow.
 
1. I'm wearing an old pair of chukka boots that are sooo comfortable, I've felt as though I'm wearing slippers at work.
2. My daughter's town in NC has freezing rain.
3. Quiet day at the office.
4. In two days, I've eliminated two restaurants from places where I'll eat.
5. My coworker is good at training our new plan reviewer.
 
1. Soccer tonight. That always brings me joy.
2. The snow missed us. Or at least it is supposed to miss us.
3. I am an editing machine. Maybe I went into the wrong career.
4. I think it is harder to have proper grammar on messageboards. Not sure why.

1) Spent two afternoons at the clinic getting xrays and such. Not fun.
2) Going back next week for more invasive procedure :-c
3) Great weather on tap for the weekend, so I'm going to go out and enjoy it!
4) Work is taking a back seat to health right now, so I am behind on a few things.
5) I think I want to just go home, curl up in the fetal position, and hug my blankie.

2. My new office is small but I picked the paint color so it's not nondescript-cream; I can't complain.
3. I guess I need to frame my diplomas or something.
4. My coworkers went to a work luncheon without me today. Hmmm.

1) I am buying whiskey tonight. Given the election season is in full swing and everything else going on right now, I think it might be a good idea.
2) As of tonight, the spare tire will be in the correct location and the new wheel will have a tire on it and be on my truck. A cracked rim sucks and is expensive.
3) Some people's ringtones are freaking hilarious. Some super skinny HS kid standing in line for lunch had "Baby's got back" for his GF's ringtone.
4) It might hit 70 here early next week. Much better than last weekend.
5) My old job filled my old position again... but they will be transitioning into the job so I am still going to be consulting for them for a little while.
 
1. Wore my Iverson Upper Peninsula Snowshoes "seek wilderness" hat to work today
2. Considering it's 68 degrees outside, it's pretty ironic
3. Really have nothing planning this weekend except church and chores
4. Considering how the past 2 months have gone, it's pretty rare.
5. Will probably get some writing in.
 
1. City hall personnel was asked to dress in Panthers attire today
2. HR asked if we can meet in the Council Chambers at 10:30 to have our picture taken - I said only if we can "Dab it"
3. Gumbo sounds better than chili for the weekend
4. Breakfast was disappointing today
5. Someone asked me if I was ready Friday. I said, "Since Tuesday."
 
1) Wearing jeans because I felt like it.
2) Biopsy results came back: clean/benign!! <:D<:D<:D
3) Had a celebratory dinner last night, so not so enthusiastic about this morning.
4) Still have bruising, but pain way down and better able to function on that side.
5) WIll get out and enjoy the sunny weekend, but still can't do any strenuous activities.

2. I'm feeling a Big Mac Attack coming on! Better keep your eyes on your fries! They do it all for you! You deserve a break today! I'm loving it!
3. Haven't planned any fun activities for this evening so perhaps I should do so.
4. I'm going to enjoy snack on Sunday. I wonder if I should watch any football games on tv that might happen to be on?
5. I use seasoned salt more than any other spice in the spice cupboard
 
1. BBQ for dinner with a my last indoor soccer game ever. Probably for the best.
2. The wife had a goalie attack her last game and she tore her meniscus. We are done with indoor soccer.
3. Cars both need work. That is a thousand dollars that I don't want to spend right now.
4. I need better lunch options. I went with cheese and apples this week.
5. I think I am rooting for Carolina. Not sure I care though.

1. Wow... that is scary because I had a Big Mac for the first time in YEARS today at lunch. I have felt sick to my stomach ever since. NEVER AGAIN!
2. Spent 15 minutes in the sauna last night... I think this may become a daily thing for me. I felt so much better afterwards.
3. I fear we will have to pay back our moving expenses which will take a dent out of our house downpayment fund. Wife has to sign for a letter from her former employer on Monday.
4. Our two little guys have not slept well the past several nights, thus my wife and I have not slept well the past several nights.
5. I have on a shirt with red in it and a Red Wings hat today because of Woman's Heart Heath day.
 
1) It's restaurant week here so we went out to dinner last night; 830 reservations. Beef tenderloin, mushrooms, mashed potatoes, great cheesecake and fruit with custard for dessert. Yum!
2) I'm exhausted.
3) I also have a headache. It's located directly in the middle of my forehead.
4) It's not even 3 o'clock yet.
5) Did I mention I was exhausted??
 
FAFSA and taxes this weekend.
I use TaxAct and it seems to work great.
Still, it stresses me out.
I don't like stress at all.
Next year's taxes are going to be a royal pain in the ass.
 
  1. 10 yrs ago today I was at the hospital awaiting the arrival my youngest child.
  2. The wife was in labor for 26 hrs.
  3. She brings that up from time to time.
  4. The reality is that she was drugged up and doesn't remember much.
  5. It was Superbowl Sunday and she missed the Rolling Stones.

2. I cook Stovetop stuffing when I don't feel like cooking. It's feels more like food than ramen does.
3. I had pizza from the new pizza place for dinner tonight. Busiest place in town.
4. My new co-worker coughed and spat during a site visit today. Pretty good for a girl. :-c
5. While I wouldn't name my kids this, I think that Jubal is a cool-sounding name.
