Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Friday

1. The tech staff is at Adopt-a-Highway and phones are quiet. Aaaaahhh.
2. Except for the Walmart opponent walk-ins, but that went better than expected.
3. Gifts at hospital gift shops aren't really suitable for sick people.
4. "I'm sorry that your leg was amputated. I hope you enjoy these oil and vinegar cruets."
5. I have three 6-foot tall windows in my office, and they overlook a concrete plant. A driver is really yelling at another driver.
 
1) Not all webinars are created equal. The one that I am watching is having tech difficulties but great information.
2) I went to lunch and did not get as wet as I thought I would.
3) Nothing gets in the way of a good thing like politics.
4) What do we really know about society and how to change it? I mean we as planners know what is good for the people, yet they still desire something else. Why is that?
5) My wife hates it when there is an event where we exchange gifts because I don't want things. Although she did a great job when the tickets to the Red Wings game knowing that I like to invest in memories and not things.
 
1. Planit is a good guy. I like the slight, but important, nudge to those of us who missed his uber accomplishment. 9k will be a party :)
2. Brisket for dinner. Mmmmmmmm.
3. Two soccer weekends left. Thank goodness.
4. Lady, running down the rip tide. Take me away to the dark side.
5. Met with two builders. This process sucks.
 
1. Adult company over tonight. it's been months.
2. Junior had the audacity to complain that he'd "be left with nothing to do tonight while the adults did their boring talk tonight". Guess what, it ain't always about you.
3. I would like a super yummy sandwich for lunch but thanks to budgetary reasons I guess I'll make one at home instead.:(
4. It looks like we're going to have the last weekend of nice weather for the year. We should do something on Saturday, but what?
5. I'd complain that I can't stand paperwork, but that's kinda what I do for a living:-$
 
1. Elections season is in full swing and so are the letters to the editors

3. Mrs. P makes fantastic chicken & dumplings which we enjoyed last night

1) It is snowing in part's of Michigan's Upper Peninsula... I don't need to wear a coat when I leave work today.

1. I think learning has changed so much. We have google. It is tough to tell my kid to just learn it.

1) Had a great morning, but had to bail just before lunch - hurling at work is not fun, nor something to subject your coworkers to. :victory:
2) Came home, slept for 3.5 hours. Tummy at upset, down from angry/unconsolable.
3) Missing an internal meeting, but couldn't be helped.
4) Was thinking of driving to Houston to visit a visiting friend this weekend, but won't go if the tummy says no. :(
5) Next week our temps may finally drop out of the 90's!! :D

1) Tired today - which is typical day-after reaction to flu shot
2) Going shoe shopping at lunch!!
3) Lots of rain predicted this weekend, so I don't think I'll be going to the football game tomorrow night. My alma mater is playing the local U in the town I work in.
4) Want to see Bridge of Spies, Spectre, and Star Wars in the theater. Hubby is on board for two out of three, and no opening weekends.
5) Going to finish changing over the closet contents for fall/winter. While I'm at it, I will purge some stuff - not just clothes.
 
1. Weekend involves lots of travel. Boo.
2. Ohio State plays at 8pm so that means I won't miss it.
3. I like those stupid butter cookies you get around the holidays.
4. I don't drink enough water in a day. I am trying to do better at this.

1. I've known the local Pizza Hut phone number for 35 years.
2. It's not the best pizza, but I like the stuffed crust pizza.
3. The house looks less and less organized the more I pack.
4. Lunch was at a local place that was on DDD.

1) Day before Halloween and a few people dressed up for the day. However, it's pouring down rain so some of the costumes are a little soggy.
2) I wore earrings with ghosts on them - that's as close to a costume that I will get.
3) Stayed late last night and came in early today. I need more coffee, or a beer.
4) No plans for Halloween, except turning off the lights and pretending to not be home.
5) Can't wait for the day after Halloween candy sales!!
 
1. Bought candy last night to [STRIKEOUT]throw [/STRIKEOUT]give to the kids. I had to sample a piece.
2. Target wasn't that crowded but the Party City store down the strip center was very crowded.
3. Mom is making her travel plans to come up during the Christmas. When she was here 3 weeks ago we had settled on the dates and flights. Now we're having the same discussions again.
4. This has been the week of addressing phone calls

1) I am going to finish all my staff reports today. I WILL I TELL YOU!
2) I am looking forward to bringing all three little munchkins tick or treating tomorrow. It will be the first time for number 2 and 3. I think we will bring the wagon just in case they get tired. I also need to figure out what neighborhood to take them to.
3) I have a long checklist of things to do at lunch starting with a trip to the bank and finishing with eating something.
4) It is frighting the number of things that I miss from living in a real house that I own. Having a garden, having a garage with outlets, mowing the lawn, (yes, it is something I enjoy doing), decorating the exterior for Christmas, having the sleeping section of the house separate from the living section of the house.
5) We watched "It's the great pumpkin Charlie Brown" last night. We bought the Peanuts Holiday Package on apple TV a few years ago. It was well worth the investment.
 
  1. Today is my last day in the office till next month.
  2. I guess it is for most but I am taking off next week to go fishing.
  3. It's the first time in a while that I have taken off with no worries about things at work.
  4. I have confidence that the other guy will take care of everything even if that means walking in my dark office to place things on my chair.
  5. I do have a little guilt about leaving the wife and kids; but I'll forget about that when I am in the river.
 
1. Soooo cute to see all the Halloween costumes at school drop-off this morning.
2. I think this year might be the only year where my youngest can trick-or-treat but he'll be too young to eat any of the candy... hooray for me! :)
3. I received a surprise email this morning that I have been given a title promotion at work. I don't think it comes with any (immediate) benefits but a nice surprise anyway.
4. I want to do my work today but don't want to sit at my desk all day to do it.
5. I guess that's kind of a problem. :p
 
1. We've been invited to a Halloween party this year.
2. Costumes are optional, but my husband is going as the Invisible Man.
3. I like Salmissra's idea, since I have earrings with bats on them. :)

2) Weather's changing, and I'm sneezing. Not hard-core allergies, but this time of year there's something out there, coming in on the wind.
3) I really want to go clothes shopping, but with my sister coming a a couple of weeks and we're hitting the outlet mall. I don't have the $$$ to go twice.
4) Trying to organize several doctor visits, since I haven't been since last year. Not fun.
5) BBQ at the boss's house this weekend. I'm not sure this is a good idea . . .

1) It is going to be sunny and in the low 80's this afternoon... Did I mention that it is November 6th? I am LOVING the south. :D
2) There have been some things that have not been super awesome in my life recently. I am praying that after a long discussion and a ton of thinking, and some research and effort, things will start to improve. :(
3) Learned about an architectural salvage yard. I am going to need to visit this place on a regular basis... might not be able to buy much right now as I don't have a house quite yet, but I wonder how much cool old stuff I can successfully and tastefully blend in with new construction. :p
4) I am trying to figure out how to scale down a full thanksgiving meal. I need to make sweet potatoes, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, and all that good stuff, but in lower volume since it is just my wife and I, and 3 little kids.
5) I don't think we have any plans for this weekend. That is going to be a nice change.

2. I finally caught up on sleep from a long BOC mtg. on Tuesday night.

2) One of my co-workers is celebrating his last day. I stole his office chair yesterday because it was better than what I had. Poor guy is moving up to Dan's region where he will freeze.
3) My sister spoils our kids. She paid too much for a set of pajama's for our 3 year old... but that is because he has been asking for them for a year now and no one makes them. (Trolley Pajamas from Daniel Tiger)

5) Found out a childhood friend's dad is in hospice. I remember him as this big, nice, strict when needed, smart man, and now he's a shadow of his former self. I knew he'd been ill but I didn't realize how severe.
 
1) My oldest received his first cub scout badge last night. It was just him and I so we didn't get pictures.
2) I am 100% out of it today. I have been fighting a major head cold for the past week, I have a very short temper, and I am not optimistic about things at the moment. I am wondering if I should have gotten out of bed today... :-@
3) A new Chick-Fil-A is open right by my house. This is both good and bad as I am going to try to get back into shape.
4) A personal/professional development program that I am in is coming to an end as they had a massive shake up in administration yesterday. The program will continue, but not with me.
5) I have more players on my FFL team marked "questionable or probable" than healthy players.

2. We've been looking for a certain notebook for a couple of months. It was found stuck in a random place in another office. I had stopped looking for it.
3. If you are capable of calling me and asking me to send an email to someone, then you are perfectly capable of just sending the email yourself.

5. There are five birthdays in my family between now & New Years.

1) In installed a 6-foot tall fence on my back property line a few years back. Does that count?
2) I did not stay up to watch the end of the Packer game last night. But I have seen the replays of the final play and it was a wonderful surprise this morning.
3) We got the final numbers with modifications for our house. It is in our budget. We are going to pray about it over the weekend and maybe begin the preapp process on Monday.
4) This weekend is the Christmas events for the town I work for, including an evening Christmas Parade!
5) We received our pinewood derby kits last night. Now to read over the rules to see what I can and can't do. It is a shame we can't use a model rocket motor on it.
 
1) Battling with fatigue this week - really makes being at work no bueno.
2) Hubby made a comment about the holidays, so I'm retaliating by putting up the Christmas decorations this weekend. He's a Grinch, not quite a Scrooge, so this'll go over like a lead balloon.
3) Have barely made a dent in my limited gift list.
4) Going out to lunch today - thinking of checking out the sandwich place, but could be convince to try something else.
5) Need to get out and get some exercise this weekend - it's going to be sunny and not as cold!
 
  1. Today is our employee appreciation lunch at work.
  2. It used to be known as the annual Christmas lunch.
  3. Santa used to come but he doesn't anymore.
  4. We used to get a Christmas bonus.
  5. It's now a longevity check, it spends just the same.
