Kathy has some good basslines in this song. One of the iconic songs of the early '80's. that and 99 Red Balloons
Of course...
You want R&B baselines? Because that's how you get R&B baselines.Had this on 45 in the late 1970s.
Awesome. RATM is one of my favorite bands. Tim Commerford is one HELL of a bass player. Coupled with Tom Morello's guitar godliness, makes for a potent combination.Needed after a 'tough' council meeting.
I'll see your Take the Power Back and raise you an even better bassline...Needed after a 'tough' council meeting.

Well...I started listening to RATM again on my commute and dug out my Bad Religion Against the Grain album too.Looks like it's a RATM/Audioslave/Prophets of Rage kinda day...
Krist Novoselic is another underrated bass player...

So. Very. '80s.This is serious Jaco territory.
Love the princess phones at 1:36. D D is a guilty pleasure for me.So. Very. '80s.

The bass line on Short Skirt/Long Jacket is wicked.
You won't get an argument from me... the bass is absolutely the lead in CAKE. I think they've even said as muchThe bass line on Short Skirt/Long Jacket is wicked.
I've been thinking a lot about this one lately. Yeah, great bass intro, but later in the song, listen to the bass through the sax and guitar solos, especially the guitar solo. The bass line picks up considerable urgency. Great stuff.Money -- Pink Floyd
Also...this entire album (Comfort Eagle) is replete with awesome basslines. The bass line on Short Skirt/Long Jacket is wicked.
I recently listened to a reaction video for this song, and I've taken to listening to reaction videos with headphones. Maybe it's the pedal effect, but that bass line has a lot going on; the sound of it is kind of trippy when you listen with headphones. The reactor even commented on that.'Seven Nation Army' by the White Stripes; although it's not played on a bass guitar, it is a pedal effect on a Jack White's guitar. Still cool, still very distinguishable.
Jack White is a living musical legend.I recently listened to a reaction video for this song, and I've taken to listening to reaction videos with headphones. Maybe it's the pedal effect, but that bass line has a lot going on; the sound of it is kind of trippy when you listen with headphones. The reactor even commented on that.
I also learned that the title "Seven Nations Army" actually comes from Jack White mishearing "Salvation Army" incorrectly when he was a little kid.
I mean Shock G actually mimics the bass line in the lyric: "A-doo-rew doo-rew-doo-rew do-it"Of course...
A classic. And talk about a reggae influenced riffI was listening to this song when all of a sudden the bass line jumped out at me. Whoa. So cool.
