I'm talking mostly about things that are no longer very popular (although they might still be in circulation). My nominees include:
liver & onions
Spam
Steakums
head cheese
chipped beef on toast (or SOS)
Tang

What are your nominations?

Brussels sprouts
lima beans
meatloaf (I like the meatloaf I make now, but I never liked my mom's version)
pouring milk over bread to eat when I had a stomachache or sore throat (apparently some old home remedy, blech)

liver & onions is still big out here. Still hate it.

Okra was my nemesis as a kid. Maybe it's just me or just the way mom cooked it, but I hated the stuff.

Warm or cold? My mom heated milk and butter, and poured it over melted toast. I love it!

The list (Well, part of it. Most things were yucky to me when I was little). :

Tomato soup
Kale (stewed all day with ham hock)
Grilled cheese
Cheese
Gravy
Lima beans
Lentil soup
Bean soup
Liverwurst

I think that my weight problem began when a few of those crossed over to the "yummy" side.

What about those Jello meat dishes that were super popular in the '70's and early 80's?

yuky then still yuky now

liver & onions
split pea soup
seafood - clams, oysters, shrimp, calamari, scallops, lobster

any and everything smothered in cheese or butter

=================================================
terraplnr dislike of meatloaf - I Like my Mom's turkey meatloaf - excellent leftovers for sandwiches

liver & onions
asparagus
lima beans
spinach
carrots
chow-chow
sauerkraut

The real problem was mom cooked mostly from a can. For example, I hated asparagus growing up, but once I had fresh (not canned) it was completely different and very good.

Some of the yuck foods on these lists are crazy!

brussel sprouts -= delicious
asparagus = delicious
lima beans = delicious
carrots = delicious
sauerkraut = delicious
split pea soup (and peas) = delicious
seafood = the best thing ever
Tomato soup = what really?! Awesome
Grilled cheese = HOW?! Super delicious
Cheese = uh yum
Gravy = I'll drink it right out of a mug
Lentil soup = delicious
Liverwurst - pretty good, although this one can be a little bit of a stretch. It needs to be cut super thin, large cuts are way too much, texture wise.
SOS - I don't hate it. I won't go out of my way to make it, but I will eat it if it's available.

I can't say I've ever had liver and onions. I've got no problem with fried chicken liver though.

My mother didn't always cook from a can, but when she cooked from fresh she still had the horrible tendency to overcook everything.

The first time I had garlic short roasted broccoli in my early twenties, I discovered I love broccoli. My mom would just boil all the flavor and nutrients out of more fresh vegetables, thereby stinking up the house and making inedible food.

The bread and milk were cold. +o(

Yeah, part of my veggie dislikes (brussel sprouts and lima beans) were because of my parents boiling the heck out of frozen veggies.

I also never liked picked beets (homemade by my Grandma or from a store). I have tried to like them as an adult but just can't.

Canned asparagus
Canned beets
Peas in any form
Canned fruit cocktail
Canned pears

There were lots of others that I didn't like, but I was never made to eat them. Example: peaches in any form. I gag on peaches. Same for most forms of tomato, except for things like spaghetti sauce and lasagna. Stewed tomatoes are the worst.

Agree with Otis

beets - yucky then and still now.
canned pears - liked as a kid with cottage cheese - as an adult - NO - too much sugar - go with fresh

My mom was pretty accommodating at dinner time - if she made something that one of us didn't like, she said we at least had to give it a try and if we still didn't like it, there was always bread (or rolls) and butter on the table and we were welcome to subside on that. She didn't really force us to eat anything.

There were 5 kids, plus mom and dad and usually grandma so if she was making something that just a few of us liked, she'd say you don't have to eat the stuffed cabbage, or liver, or SOS, etc. and would let us fix ourselves a bowl of cereal. In our house, I considered city chicken or SteakUms a treat because I was usually the only one who liked those things so on those days I'd be the one digging in while my sisters or brothers might opt for the cereal.

FWIW, as an adult, we still occasionally buy SteakUms (and by occasionally, I mean maybe once a year). They work pretty good to make sandwiches and my daughter actually enjoys them. I also once saw a show or read somewhere about how they are made and feel much less grossed out by them now. IIRC, it's good quality roast beef but the developer happened to invent some sort of process for slicing it extra thin AND flash freezing.

SteakUms are really just fine-textured meatloaf. So is gyro meat, but with more seasonings.

my Mom, who is truly an awesome lady, was not a great cook - she made a good lasagna and apple pie and beef stew and American Chop Suey, but that's about it

She used to make this horrific dish of ground beef with a can of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup then put that over Minute rice - it was truly awful - I would eat the edges of the rice and bunch of rolls and attempt to throw it away when she wasn't looking, which is hard when you have an eat in kitchen

Stringy pot roast done in a pressure cooker (but I loved the sound of the pressure cooker)

Also, overcooked vegetables were sloshed down with gulps of milk, which I also hated to drink

When I started to befriend Italian American families, my culinary world opened up big and wide and I never turned down a meal at their homes and when I would go over to play after school at their house(s), I was often greeted with a bowl of pasta with sauce that had been simmering all day - it's the perfect greeting, really

Maybe I'm just weird, but this doesn't sound too gross to me. I'd give it a try. I used to be super picky about food, but I'll try anything now. I remember when I was a kid I HATED green bean casserole. Now I can't get enough of it!

Adding a can of Campbell's soup was marketed as a tasty time saver. Why make a bechamel or veloute when you could coax congealed soup out of a can?

My wife uses cream of mushroom soup with quite a few recipes but I think they are all with chicken. With ground beef? That sounds pretty gross.
