Yeah, but I still don't understand steps 4. and 5. You didn't explain that.

It always helps to carry a field guide with you. Start carrying one after Roger Tory Peterson was arrested while listening for whippoorwills. Someone called the cops on him and the police asked to see his field guide to prove he was really a birder. He said he didn't need one because he wrote it. And ended up spending a night in jail until the cops found out he really was the famous field guide author.
