Music 🎵 Today's Music Break thread

I believe this has been posted elsewhere but don't believe in this tread. Not going through 400+ post to verify so I'll just post. The title translates to "I'm very glad to finally be returning home." Damn proud of myself for being able to translate all but one word. Cheated to get the remainder. Have not studied Russian since 1995.

I heard a story about this often meme'ed performance. The way I heard it was this well-known Russian singer was scheduled to appear on some tv show to sing that song. The government censors, however, took exception to some of the song lyrics and provided "alternate" lyrics that the singer found to be absolutely ridiculous, and since the performance was scheduled to happen in only a few minutes, angrily chose to dispense with the song's lyrics altogether and just sing nonsense syllables instead... tro-lo-looo :music: .....Sure, it may sound completely stupid but no government censors could possibly take exception to that.

While I appreciate the contribution Syd Barrett made to the band's early music, and that he continued to influence the band's music long after his departure, and that this experimental period was instrumental to the band they would become, I... just don't think early Pink Floyd music is really all that good, not musically, not lyrically, and not in terms of production. It's very basic, amateurish and indulgent.

I think the key to really enjoying Pink Floyd is to be high. Same with the Grateful Dead.

Agreed.

Pink Floyd really hit their peak in the late '70s and early '80s. Here's my favorite peak-era Pink Floyd song:





I learned way too late in life that "Lunatic Fringe" was not actually a Pink Floyd song! :rofl:
