Daily things 5️⃣ Three Things Thursday

1. Happy Birthday Lady Gaga and Reba!

2. Allergy season. Aah-CHOO!!!

3. Since we will be flying to Vegas for vacation early Sunday morning, I am wondering if I should make some sort of Easter dinner Saturday night. Problem is, the day before we travel is usually "leftover night" in our house.

Jim

1. Get to see may parents (87 years young) for the next several days.
2. Four-day weekend.
3. Watching a great horned owl nest a few blocks away from my house - wonder if the same owl as last year.

1. noisy road construction in front of my apt.
2. nice day for a walk - sunny, 50 degrees, distance 2.5 miles
3. been invited to a easter dinner.

1. A worrisome meeting scheduled at 2:00 today
2. Bean soup for lunch was perhaps not the wisest choice in advance of the aforementioned meeting
3. We got the St. Patricks Day decorations down yesterday and the Easter decorations up

1. Bean soup could cause a brief meeting if you close the doors.
2. If my chiropractor doesn't return my call, I'm calling another.
3. Today is picture day. I wouldn't hire us based on my picture. 🤦‍♀️

1. Interestingly, soup is in my near future today.
2. I hate when the office decides to have lunch together; I'm social, but I like my lunch hour to myself.
3. The fancier you try to make soup, the worse it is. I'm not eating that soup, Alissa. Don't care if all I eat is crackers and a brownie.

Registering for AICP test on Monday, let's see what happens.
Auditing and editing use definitions is drier than expected.
I have some soup too - a quart jar with maybe one spoonful of beans left. Couldn't waste the good bean juice and plan to add some chicken or something to make a new meal.

1. I have a window salesman coming to my home tomorrow. They asked if Mrs. Gedunker would be there and I literally laughed out loud.
2. I should probably take the Christmas lights down outside.
3. It is OPENING DAY!!!!!

1) Opening Day! :baseball: My poor father is conflicted - his childhood team is playing his adult team.

2) Mandatory Board & Commission training tonight. I already want a drink!

3) Hubby is in a foul mood. So the previous item ^^ is a good thing.

1. Taking a four day weekend starting tomorrow
2. Hopefully get some critical garden tasks done but also want some fun
3. What to do for fun?

3. What to do for fun?
1. that is good.
2. weather permitting
3. always the question.

1. Went home sick on Monday. Like really sick for the first time in many years.
2. Came back yesterday and probably shouldn't have. It has completely drained me.
3. Better now than in 9 days when I leave for Cedar Key!

1) Hubby's alarm went off at 3:30 AM this morning. I couldn't get back to sleep.

2) How much caffeine is too much? :coffee::coffee::pop::pop:

3) Nice day. Too bad I'm in the office . . .

1. We had a great vacation in Vegas. Saw lots of shows, won some money (less than I make in a day, but it's something), and got to see the Tropicana on its last full day of operation.

2. Went to the Golden Knights game against my Canucks. An overwhelming win for VGK :-(, but they really know how to put on a show at that arena. But there are no bottle fillers or drinking fountains!! A curious oversight in design that should be rectified. Having to get water out of the bathroom sinks is gross, but it beats dehydration.

3. We heard from our housesitter while we were gone that our female cockatiel had passed away. It probably happened Sunday morning, right after we left. I think it was a stroke--Jensen had been acting oddly for several days, which I attributed to spring hormones. We were worried about our male, Rio, checking in on him every couple of hours via Alexa. He was noticeably upset, but seems to be acting normal now that we are home.

RIP Jensen, 2012*-2024.

*We think she was about one when she adopted us in 2013.

Got the report back.

The short version is that she was hatched with a congential kidney condition that doomed her to a shorter-than-normal lifespan from the getgo. Over the last few weeks that condition finally shut down her kidneys. Primary cause of death is renal failure, with a secondary GI infection.

Heart, lungs, muscle system, neurology all looked good, and age is estimated at 12-15 like we thought. No signs of exposure to toxins or contagious disease, hence, no danger to Rio.

Bottom line: natural causes that could not have been prevented or predicted. Had one of her personal birds had the same symptoms Jensen had had, the doctor also would have attributed it to spring hormones.

1. Jensen is now at eternal rest in our front yard, buried under the tree she used to look out at from her favorite windowsill. Said windowsill is now marked with a sign dedicated to her memory. Our male, Rio, was sad and distressed but now appears back to his normal self.

2. All packed for NPC24, and flying out tomorrow. Weather looks good for most of the conference, but with t-storms and a possible tornado scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, I wonder if I'll get a bonus day in Minneapolis.

3. What is wrong with the Canucks?? They are NOT looking like a playoff-quality team right now.

1) I am thinking about adopting a dog that my cousin is fostering. But just not sure what Hubby's thinking about in terms of timing, and breed.

2) Dad needs help with his taxes. Yippee.

3) Ugh. Lots of street construction on both of my routes in to the office. Not fun.

1. Mrs. Maister is doing our taxes. Better her than me.
2. That frozen Roma pizza I had for lunch is sitting like lead in my stomach
3. A cup of tea sounds capital. Too bad I don't have any at the office.

1. Budget is complete and ready for distribution to Council. Don't anticipate too much drama before adoption.
2. Getting super excited to head to Cedar Key. I love me some "old Florida".
3. Hoping to see some manatees up close. One of my favorite animals.

1. Met a sweet pupper today:

2. Missing New Orleans.

3.

1. It was great meeting many of you at NPC24. I trust everyone is settling back in now . . .

2. While I was gone, we got an HOA violation letter about weeds in our yard. The same weeds that the HOA is supposed to be abating by using our HOA fees. I will explain that to them again--what's the point of paying for weed abatement if we are not getting weed abatement, and why should WE be fined for them not doing THEIR job?

3. The hotel I was in (Indigo) does not have a book exchange or little library, so I left the books I was done with scattered around MCC with a note saying "Free--help yourself." I trust they went to a good home.

Jim

1. Peanut butter and bacon sandwiches for dinner!
2. Itty Bitty's first soccer game is Saturday!
3. We've been cat-less for 4 months. :(

1. Day 4 of soft foods
2. lunch will be creamy tuna salad, light toast, apple sauce
3. jaw near TMJ is not sore anymore

1) Phone calls . . . Why can't people just email??

2) Visit to my old stomping grounds tomorrow. Be interesting to see who's still around.

3) I am so done with today.

1. Tacos for everyone!
2. Drinks all around!
3. I wish I could actually afford to make these kinds of gestures/proclamations

1. With Demko out, I am not optimistic about Vancouver advancing to round 2. :-(

2. Whatever happened to music "fading out" at the end like in the old days?

3. I am craving Popeye's fried chicken. I don't do fast food often but sometimes, I just want it.

Jim

1. I am not Jewish, but wondering how a Jewish person in need of CPAP would use the machine during Shabbat. Are there specially designed CPAP machines for Orthodox Jews? (My mind comes up with strange questions at night.)

2. Almost time to dig the camping stuff out from its hibernation area in the northwest corner of the garage.

3. Getting an estimate for new siding for our house tomorrow (likely original to 1997, when it was built--we bought in 2013). Wish us luck.

Jim

I'm not Jewish either, but why would there be a problem using a CPAP during Shabbat?

Because it's a machine that has to be turned on at night. I'm wondering if they have some that can just turn themselves on at a certain time and off at a certain time. I dunno.

Googling the question takes you down an interesting rabbit hole.

1. Big thunderstorm at about 2:00 this morning woke me up.
2. It's dump day. (I'll go to the transfer station on my lunch break- I go once/month)
3. How can it be that I really like writing, yet have near-constant writer's block? (got a 3/4 finished memo on my desk...)

1. Thunderstorms here today too!
2. Lord help me with this child and her homework.
3. Trying to decide whether or not to stress myself out and apply to test for a new credential that won't gain me any immediate benefits besides some more letters after my name.

1. Knowledge is good
2. Being able to cut one's own hair is also good.
3. A thing about key lime pie would be truly random now, no?

1. Knowledge is power.
2. Being able to actually cut hair properly are two entirely different things. I refer you to any large gathering of people.
3. Real Key Lime pie is fantastic. If someone serves you green Key Lime pie they don't know what they're doing.

I have not seen green Key Lime pie in many years- a good thing.

Now Key Lime Bread pudding? I was skeptical but it was so good! (it wasn't green either)

1) Corporate head honcho in office today. No one is wearing jeans!

2) Great day for the roof to leak, causing ceiling tiles to fall and front carpet get wet in the office.

3) Deadlines - why is it everything has to be in at the same time? Anyone heard of staggering?
