Daily things 5️⃣ Three Things Thursday

1) We are in the office 3 days a week (any 3 - so I told my staff it's whichever 3 days are best for you). I switch around based on Hubby's schedule.

2) It rained earlier and is so humid my glasses fogged up immediately after I opened my car door. I had to take my glasses off to see to get into the office building.

3) What's for lunch? Well, I'll go to the deli and see what the special is today. If I don't like it, then a sandwich combo to go will do the trick.

The windows on my house were fogged up until late in the morning. Incredibly humid. I guess we had rain at about 3 am (according to my wife who said the storm woke her up).

1. Taking the afternoon off. I may have lost a few hours of vacation time going over the limit we're allowed to bank
2. Maybe I'll put up some Christmas decorations this afternoon
3. A bit slow at work. That's a welcome relief after the previous 8 months or so

1) Busy day of meetings today. Good day to be WFH.

2) Got the Holiday decoration boxes out last night. Now to start putting up the tree, etc.

3) I'm going to re-pack the decorations at the end of the season. I've accumulated a few more family things, and need either more boxes or bigger boxes. I have both in the attic.

1. Last Council meeting of the year tonight. I'm sure it will go out with a bang.
2. Reduced hours because of limited staff has really impacted my ability to get a haircut.
3. Working a half day tomorrow so think I'm going to bring the pup to work.

2. Reduced hours because of limited staff has really impacted my ability to get a haircut.
At the beginning of the pandemic/work from home, I bought a good pair of clippers for about $100 on Amazon. They have more than paid for themselves (and relieved me of having to sit through Faux News at my old barber = priceless). Of course, I have practically no hair, which makes it much easier.

1) We have several restaurants that are now closed a couple days a week because they cannot find staff and demand dine-in options is through the roof. Several smaller retail establishments are experiencing similar issues.

2) I need to figure something out in regards to my circadian clock, eating time, availability to eat with rest of my family, and heavy gym days. I don't foresee an easy answer right now. I should be eating earlier in the day and doing intermittent fasting, but I can't do both because of therapy schedules. Most nights the soonest we can eat dinner is 7PM... and I am up at 5AM and in the gym less than 45 minutes later.

3) I do not have a very diverse color palette for my clothing.

1. I've got a couple tasks on my plate that are not my normal job and I'm not eager to do them.
2. I've got about a week left this year. I get Fridays off so it's just Monday through Thursday next week, plus maybe some very limited work the following week.
3. Current Fort Worth temperature is 79°F.

1. I'm taking next week off. Not going anywhere but at least it's some time off from work
2. I have to figure out what to get my 83 year old father for both Christmas and his birthday (five days apart)
3. As noted, a few more miscellaneous gifts to buy next week, but we're otherwise more or less ready for Xmas.

1) While I usually don't mind being in the office, it is noisier and more distracting than being at home all the time.

2) It's unseasonably warm here.

3) I'm supposed to be writing my self-evaluation. I'll get right on that . . .

1) The weather is terrific here.
2) Developers are funny when you start mentioning new regulations.
3) We are having pot roast for dinner tonight since it is the favorte meal of my oldest.

1. Office holiday luncheon
2. Ugly sweater day (mine is black, silver, and has xmas flamingos with real feathers)
3. It's 60F and sunny outside

1. I have a headache
2. I've also had several dizzy episodes since last night. What's up with that?
3. Junior will be taking a semester at the local alternative ed high school

Look up the Eppley Maneuver. It's supposed to help relieve dizziness.

We are redeveloping an alley into a pedestrian mall outside my office. The c.1845 masonry load-bearing building doesn't care for heavy equipment stomping and tromping nearby.
Contractors are coming to tint the office windows next week. It'll be a hassle emptying the desk so it can be moved out of the way and then replacing everything. If it helps hold the rather impressive heat gain down, it will have been worth it.
Every cough, runny nose, headache or what have you has me immediately thinking 'Rona. Vaxxed, vaxxed, and boosted, but sill ...

1) Personal recovery is not going fast enough. I slept for 9 hours last night and I am still exhausted.
2) I have zero idea on what we are doing for dinner. I think I might just pick up something premade and bring it home.
3) They are saying we might get some snow again this weekend. That would make 3 weekends in a row.

1) Had a busy day yesterday and today seems very slow in comparison.

2) I feel just a bit out-of-phase or something, like maybe I'm removed from my surroundings.

3) Stress, anxiety, worry, and life in general are not going my way.

Funny you should post that I was just telling someone I need to do this when I get home.
Years ago, I told my chiropractor that I would lie back and turn my head to the position that made me dizzy, then turn it back. It worked, and he was surprised.

I don't think that Eppley was born yet. 😉

1. I have an IKEA Billy CD tower.
2. I hate bending down to get to the CDs in the bottom of the CD tower.
3. I bought some shelf brackets and mounted it horizontally on the wall at eye level. Bonus thing: The extended space of the CD shelf near the window gives Iggy a better view outside.

1. Yesterday we had a snow day from work
2. Today we had to go into work
3. A Mickey D's burger and fries sounds good right now. Too bad it's not worth it to wait in line for 20+ minutes to get it

1. Was daydreaming about a vacation to Kenya until I saw the bonus amenity of "security guards at beaches".
2. I ate too many curry potato chips.
3. There is so much wasted spousal brain power on military bases.

I think I know what you mean, but please elaborate.
Me know big wurds.

There are a lot of military/contractor/civilian spouses hanging out being glorified housewives/househusbands. Some of this is due to political agreements and visa status but some of it is gov't ineptitude. For example. the local military schools are in desperate need of substitute teachers. However, it takes 6-9 months to be approved for a position.

1) Sleet and ice here this morning. Dog is not happy.

2) Did not sleep well last night - brain would not shut down. So now I'm tired.

3) We are encouraged to WFH today and tomorrow given the snow, ice, and below freezing temps. I'm good with that!

1. Today is more of a 'chop wood carry water' day than most. Enlightenment be damned
2. Snow is still beautiful looking, but I'm ready for spring now.
3. Maybe I'm still 17 at heart. I feel like I would have no objections to eating pizza three or four times a week.

1) In the office today. Looks like it'll be pretty quiet.

2) I dropped the ball on a project. Good thing it's a rubber ball so I can keep it bouncing around!

3) MIL is out of the hospital!

1) New shower is passing the flood text! Time to start applying the more than 1000 tiles. I have gone back and forth on this, and I am going to start with the floor, let it set, cover it with cardboard and then start on the walls. It is going to take a while, but we are doing a black 8 by 6 inch hexagonal tile on the floor (and the rest of the bathroom floor) and then a traditional white subway tile on the walls.

2) Large bone-in pork roast is in the Instapot for BBQ Pulled Pork. It's not real BBQ, but I don't have time to put it on a smoker for 8 to 10 hours. So this will have to do. I cook it for 4 hours and then leave it on "Keep Warm" to allow all the juices to get reabsorbed into the meat. Some slaw, collard greens, and Mac and Chees and we are set for dinner.

3) I am trying to push the boundaries on expectations of development a bit. Everything is backed by our Zoning Code, but it is raising the bar several notches from what the developers have done in the past.

1. More warm weather today. It's 55 atm
2. I would love to spend a day doing nothing but drinking beer if there were no negative consequences
3. Junior wants to leave school early due to "bad allergies". I'm torn on this one.

I thought today was Friday until I saw this thread.
I'm unhappy that it's not Friday.
I'm going to be smarmy to an engineer. In the name of Daniel Burnham, I ask forgiveness.

1. Long weekend is almost here.
2. Plans to go see family scuttled by Covid at the visiting end.
3. Not sure the chocolate bunnies we bought for our nephews will survive to see them.

1. Love when Thursday is "Friday" and it's a payday!
2. Budget presented to Council yesterday. Let the games begin . . .
3. Busy weekend with going to the RBC Heritage 2 days and tailgate preparations for two Buffett shows next week.

1. The weekend is here (for me).
2. In general I'm not a huge Beatles fan but the Golden Slumbers medley, made up of half-finished songs and really the last thing we'd hear by the band, is quite good.
3. I'm bringing in the weekend with a double Knob Creek Bourbon on the rocks and Leon Bridges on the stereo.

1. The dept. admin assistant put a bowl of Hershey's kisses at the front desk when we opened at 8:00. At 10:30 there are three pieces left.
2. I'm looking forward to having next week off
3. I took having good vision for granted until I experienced macular edema for several weeks

1) I need a vacation big time. I have one scheduled for the week after next, but I need it now!!

2) I have been very unproductive lately.

3) I just want to read some books and take a nap, but that's not going to happen soon.

1) We just had a decent pop-up rain storm roll through. It is great because we need the rain. It might be good if it brought the temps down. It might be bad if it allowed the temp to remain, and made it crazy humid. I haven't gone out side yet to check.

2) I am still in recovery mode from my the effects of the night meeting on Monday. Productivity this week has not been awesome.

3) I was going to take the oldest to see Jurassic Park. But since we have been having behavior issues with him, I might take the wife to see Top Gun instead.

If you want the punishment to stick, take the other two to see Jurassic Park without him.

1.) I am biting off a $5 road project converting a rural section 2 lane road to one with a turn lane, replacing old water main, and adding a pedestrian/bike path.
2.) I am biting off a regional trail project with the county and another city that will be $10 million
3.) I already have an 11,000 ft sidewalk project going, 170 ash trees being cut down, and a rec center project going. I must be out of my mind.
