Daily things 5️⃣ Three Things Thursday

1. I'm done with churches
2. Salted cocktail peanuts are one of my favorite snacks. Right behind salted in the shell peanuts
3. I'm in the mood for a good Monty Python movie. Too bad they're not making new ones.

1. My youngest is coming home from Michigan State today for the summer.
2. Pistons/Knicks Game 6 tonight.
3. Building Safety Month.

There's a donut truck across the street. The donut maker didn't let the dough ferment long enough. But it's a light, picture-perfect donut.

If you called and I told you that i was eating trail mix, you'd probably picture me with boots, backpack and trekking poles ascending the Allegheny Front. In reality, I'd probably be watching The Waltons.

I had a fun small-world experience a couple of days ago. The guy knows my brother and my brother's friend, and has something in his house built with some old bowling lanes that belonged to my former husband and me about 30 years ago.

1. The pay gate is back in operation in our city hall parking garage, after having been out of order (ergo, free) for months.

2. We will be in North Carolina for a wedding in just a few weeks.

3. The host talked up my upcoming appearance on his show radio today. He had to do something to fill time, since his guest for today was late. :p I am in the queue for Tuesday.

I spent enough time in churches when I was younger I feel I am good for the rest of my life now, special events excepted.

1. I went on a local radio show this week to promote my books, but never mentioned my books at all. D'Oh!

2. Regardless, I get to come back for a "second hit of the blunt"* on June 3.

3. Off to a friend's 50th birthday party this weekend. Wifey has been hard at work on decorations, etc. all week, and I am working on the groovy playlist.

* Part of the show's schtick. No actual blunt involved.

1. Yes.
2. I always have salted shell peanuts in my office. But I would certainly like to have a one-sided conversation with the peanut factory employee that keeps throwing in random unsalted shell peanuts in the mix.
3. At least we have the treasure trove of what they did.

If I don't respond to an email, there's no need to send me another to make me answer it sooner. Your control freak is showing.

The area where I'm working had 7+ inches of rain so far this May with a bad rain event this week. Parts of the C&O bike trail will need repairs, once the water recedes.

I had a warm and spicy pimiento cheese dip for lunch. Oh was it good.

1. Itty Bitty has girl scout campout this weekend.
2. German windows don't have screens which makes it difficult to have fresh spring breezes and indoor-only kittens.
3. Cardi B dip is reallllllllllllllllly good.

1. I wish I could just skip court tomorrow morning
2. It's a bluegrass kind of day
3. Hello Mr. Bear. How are you today?

1. Read a story this morning about a minor-league baseball park in Texas that has a lazy river in the outfield for people to use during games. I like the idea, but the challenge would be keeping one's scorecard dry.

2. Leaving for North Carolina in a few weeks. The process of deciding which two books I am taking has already begun. (Don't tell them this, but they won't make it home. When traveling, I always take books I don't plan on keeping permanently so I can donate/toss them when done. Shh.)

2a. I should go ahead and add our TSA numbers to our reservation now so we can do PreCheck when we get to the airport.

3. I've been excused from yardwork the last three weekends due to weather. No excuse this week: Supposed to be 85 degrees and sunny. I already tackled one honeydew on Tuesday, though.

3a. Never text your wife at 9 a.m. on Saturday to tell her you have finished your honeydews already.

Jim

1) Eating healthy is really freaking hard at times.

2) IRS sucks

3) I am getting new tires for my truck this weekend.
We filed months ago and have a very small refund coming back. (I shoot for $0 on our bottom line every year.) No word yet. I suspect the IRS layoffs had an effect.

Jim

1. We have a busy few weeks ahead of us; packed calendar between now and the end of June. It's 2019 all over again.

2. Supposed to be 100 degrees Saturday.

3. Our HOA pool, after months of repair, is set to open on June 7. They did lots of work that should have been done when it was closed for COVID.

Why do dental people, when talking about my treatment, refer to my teeth by number? I don't name them, let alone number them. Keep that lingo to yourself.

I had cheese enchiladas for lunch.

This has been one rainy and gloomy May.

1. After watching the first season of Tucci in Italy, my wife (great grandparents emigrated from the Piedmont area) has now learned of that offal and lamb are common food items.
2. She lays claim no part of this in her ancestry.
3. Will happily survive on pasta and cheese when we embark on our 2027 trip.

1. Folks just don't eat offal like they used to. A shame really
2. One of the biggest belly laughs I ever got watching Simpsons was the one where they showed a parody of the opening of Hee Haw
3. I appreciate the plant growth we see in spring and summer, and the colors of fall but for some reason I'm looking forward to the quiet solitary of winter

1. It sure feels like a Friday.

2. We don't have an official dress code at work (just common sense), but I figure I can get away with jeans and a Reno Aces Baseball T-shirt today. Normally I wear khakis and either button down or polo shirt.

2a. Just realized, however, I have a left shoe on from one pair of shoes, and a right shoe from another pair. Luckily, they are both so similar-looking I doubt anyone will notice.

3. Not planning to do anything for the 4th itself. Fireworks shows and anything with crowds have run their course with me. I'm turning into my father like that.

Jim

1. I have to crumble up soda crackers in most soups. It's required.
2. I'd like to head to Shipshewana some weekend where it's not insanely busy
3. A chili dog would be good right now

1. I decided not to go to my 50th HS reunion.
2. My reason is that they want $100 to attend, & not to mention the travel cost to go back to Jersey & for 1 night.
3. Also have not kept in touch with any one

let's so Aces!!! My dad lives in Reno and I have core memeories going to those games and seeing the giant baseball guy sing. Also your dress code sounds like what my manager wears but replace the jersey with an Orioles jersey

My three things:
  1. The vibe in our office is in shambles. Our building official is on some extended admin leave and no one can tell us what's going on. People in departments are dropping like flies- an engineer left, we fired a planning technician, and lost multiple building inspectors the past month.
  2. Doing wedding planning stuff - it's the final sprint to get all the things done!
  3. Going to a big annual Art Festival event in Denver this weekend!

I go to a handful of games a year, since the stadium is two blocks from work. We also went to go see the Bananas last month.

1. :-O
2. :p
3. (-:

1. I freaking love Buffalo

2. Meow, I'm getting a cat in the next week

3. I still need an AC, but summers in WNY are milder than NYC and sometimes even Toronto. I cant wait for snow already.

1) I am going to go get my allergy shot today. They are closed tomorrow and Saturday.

2) We are up in the air if we are going to the fireworks tonight. Logistically, it is a nightmare and requires parking in neighborhoods a good distance from the venue.

3) I almost never use my desk phone. It is forwarded to my work cell phone. Even then with outgoing calls, I put in air-pods connected to the work cell and walk around my office during calls.

1. I have an interview today with an engineering firm. I feel pretty good about the company--I love the whimsical biographies they have of all their employees. I don't want to say too much.

2. My previous boss basically said that whoever I interview with should snatch me up right now before they lose me.

3. I really don't want to let our housekeeper go--she does a great job--but we don't really need her right now since I am keeping up on the housekeeping. Maybe I can find something else for her, like taking care of the weeds in the yard? I'll ask. She's been our housekeeper for a decade or so and dropping her would feel like dropping a family member.

1. No energy
2. Headache
3. Fever
Mild bug?

Bonus edition:

1. I don't know as much as I'd like to or should know about GIS.

2. I need CM credits.

3. There are lots of Passport and Planetizen courses about GIS that earn CM.

1. I'm taking a nap at lunch.
2. I was getting ready to enjoy the first bite of a sausage Patty and had to take a call from a client.
3. My mechanic ghosted me. He has been replaced.

1) Had good vibes at the interview yesterday.

2) Dad's procedure went long but he's home chillin in his recliner.

3) I need to get some housework done and prepare for a donation run tomorrow.

1) Starting to question if we bought a money pit. Few months ago, the front door mechanism failed. Last week we had a pinhole leak in a cold water line under the sink. Yesterday wife informs me that a couple tiles fell off the pool wall.

2) I have been told that I eat at my desk too often.

3) I have a developer who is not going to be pleased with is traffic engineer when he finds out that we still don't have a complete TIA that reflects the project.

1. Lee Iacocca was the mightiest of men, if he cant save your Chrysler corporation, no one can!
2. There are no living World War I veterans currently living in Buffalo.
3. Wghelka;hdfbvabDHLJKK/

1. Latest quarterly report of my 401k and 457 was very positive.
2. Did not want to review yesterday (statement in mail) due to the overall economy uncertainties.
3. Pulling out some for medical bills. :(

1. Court tomorrow. Yay.
2. caramel is a weird candy
3. So are Sweet tarts but I like them

1) Listened to a webinar at lunch. Not very engaging but counts as CM credit!

2) I have a headache.

3) Trying something I've done before in the large crockpot, but using the smaller one. Seems to be working out so far.

1. Ever since I bought this new laptop two years ago, I've never been able to get the camera to work correctly, so I've had video meetings via my phone.

2. Uninstalled and re-installed camera app, checked all settings and permissions, kept getting a black screen every time I accessed the camera.

3. Turns out there is a tiny little flap over the camera itself that needed to be moved out of the way, Camera works great now! Usually it's the simplest thing that should be checked first.

JIm

1) Applied for several jobs today.

2) Tomorrow is dad's follow-up to his pacemaker surgery.

3) Hubby is not in a good mood.

1. No court today. Yay!
2. probably gonna mow the lawn this afternoon and can green beans tomorrow. Maybe I'll reverse the order depending on Mrs. Maister's inclinations
3. The last sit down restaurant I had dinner in was a Bob Evans. Hadn't eaten there for at least 20 years. But in that moment I had to have their biscuits and gravy.

1. Laid off one month ago today, and I don't feel any closer to getting a job than I did that day. I thought this would be a two-week process.

2. There's a dead skunk somewhere outside and . . . ewww.

3. Going camping off-grid for a few days. This was planned months ago, but I am looking forward to the getaway. I may drive the twenty-mile round trip from the campsite to the state highway to check messages at least once a day just in case. (Maybe not on Saturday or Sunday though.)

Jim

@Maister

1. I enjoy peanuts as a snack.
2. Splurged and purchased a sack of Whitley's from Virginia.

1. Had Spaghetti-os for dinner. :high:
2. We feed peanuts to our outside birds.
3. Sold the soccer tickets for the weekend and managed to get tickets to a real game later this year. :soccer:

1) Had a virtual video interview yesterday. Strange, but it was a lot shorter than driving somewhere for the same basic 1st round questions.

2) Back in the spring, I put my name forward as being interested in a TX APA chapter officer position. Found out yesterday I'm the only candidate on the ballot. :astonished:

3) Why is the temperature so high when I have the time to go outside and see new places?
