Daily things 5️⃣ The Sunday Afternoon Club

I hung out with my son this afternoon. We went for barbecue. The other son has a basketball game tonight, and I'm kind of hoping that a threat of snow causes a cancellation.

Went to Ikea, purchased a much needed Hemnes corner desk and a chair. Drove down the parkway to the Jersey Shore Premium outlets for the heck of it, The Man needed new shoes and is both picky & cheap which is a bad combination-figured with 12 shoe stores he'd find what he was looking for and he did. Scored some nice long sleeved tees that were 70% off, basically buy 1 and get 2 free. Stopped by Tops Diner for dinner and then a quick trip to the grocery store.

Snowmageddon supposedly will be arriving tomorrow. Some models have us receiving 2 feet of snow 8-!

I wonder if she knew she drove over it ....

++
Rainy cool day here on the edge of the Alberta Clipper that's going to dump a foot of snow on the East Coast. I could go for a good snowfall about now.:)

Oh yes, she did. She rolled down her window for a moment and shouted "Sorry!"
....

This Sunday I finally began to get the hang of driving the standard-transmission car I was given about a month ago... I've spent about 6 hours in it trying to find the balance between smoking the tires and stalling, but today I seemed to pick it up with in 10 or 15 minutes of driving, which was nice... I haven't driven in 4 or 5 years, so re-learning how to drive and learning standard at the same time is a little tricky! I feel like I am a menace to society out there on the road...

My S/O got a job in his field this week too, so we no longer work at the same place anymore. I met him at work 4 years ago and we've spent every lunch together since... next week is going to be strange without him. I wonder how much longer it will be before I can leave for a job in my field :r:

Next Sunday I'm moving house.... so I'll probably be absent. It'll be my first apartment where I don't have to share with roommates!

Went to Ikea, purchased a much needed Hemnes corner desk and a chair.

I love Hemnes stuff!

70 degrees and sunny on the Oregon coast. We went for a nice walk on the beach. Later we went back down to the beach and met some friends to watch the sunset. Then we built a driftwood fire and sipped wine for a couple of hours watching the moon and stars. A good day.

You win!

The Girl broke her pinky at soccer practice (after only 20 minutes there) so we spent 3 hours in urgent care.

Nice clean break - could have been better/could have been worse. They gave her a vicodin and she was hilarious on the drive home yakking the entire trip on random topics. She would have been perfect on our Random thread, She did say that she was glad I was the one with her and not Mom, because Mom would have freaked out and been too overbearing.:)

I went for brunch at a little cafe, and ate half of a heavy meal. The snow is falling at a pretty good rate here right now. I have some food in the oven, and am taking it easy this afternoon. I'm trying to find the energy to make a cake. The intention is there, but the motivation isn't. I might read a book instead.

I'm more fired up about the snacks than the game today

okay, I'm eating those words. It was an exciting game. Trading blows throughout all four quarter and it came down to the wire. I liked the acid inspired dancing sharks at half time.

And the players' fight. Stay classy, Bennet!

I loved the dancing, talking sharks and palm trees. :D

The sharks were the best. Especially how one of them clearly did not know the dance moves while the other one had it down. :D There are videos of that part of it.

And what was with the power ranger robotic tiger?

I had a house warming party last night. 9 people is too many people for my apartment. I will never invite 9 people over again.

It was fun though. And people REALLY liked my guacamole.

Today's brunch consists of waffles, link sausages, strawberries, and sparkling wine.

Brunch will consist of French toast, sausage links, strawberries, and Piper Sonoma sparkling wine. ZG will drink mimosas using the cheap sparkler. Her choice.

For dinner, we slow-cooked some pork yesterday and we'll bake enchiladas.

I need to work on the pool today.

We are going down to the Visual Arts Center this morning, where they are having a surplus sale (fixtures and art supplies). My wife has to move her studio this month and this is an opportunity for a partial re-equip.

Played indoor soccer last night, got taken out, landed on my shoulder, banged it up pretty good. Hopefully its not overly damaged. I'm going to try to ride it out a couple of days and see how it feels.

My thought for the day

Although I've had very little education and training in the topic of chemistry, I want to remind everyone that water is the universal solvent.

BUMP

nobody does anything on sunday afternoon anymore ?

exceeding the dullest thread are we ?

We took the kids to the NC museum of natural sciences. Super cool museum and it's FREE!

Tonight, we folded laundry.

We drove back from Gettysburg, and then I worked in the yard.

Now, if there were a Saturday Afternoon Club, I could tell you about my bike tour of Gettysburg Battleground, which I highly recommend.

Slept til 11am.
Thought about folding laundry.
Went to Costco.
Grilled some steaks, chicken, and veggies.
Had a margarita.

SOS

laundry, dishes, recycling, phonecalls w family, post here & FB, watch tv

Scanned slides from the 50's & 60 's. My FB cover photo is from the 50's. My avatar is from 1955-56 hotel stationary from Holland.
ran the dishwasher.

Rode my bike. Walked to the store. Made work lunch from a recipe in Rachael Ray magazine. (I have no idea why I get the magazine because I don't like her, but the recipe is a keeper.)

I'm a boring person on the weekend. Had a picnic with people from work. My wife now understands that I have nothing in common with people from work, but they're all really nice people. Weeded my flower bed. Fixed the kids bikes - flat tires. Colored pictures with the kids, and watched season 3 of Walking Dead, usual dad stuff.

Today at church, our middle son (with autism) got out of his nursery classroom. They didn't realize it until I went to pick him up. A 10 minute search felt like an eternity. Processes regarding the nursery will be changing before next week and no parent will be permitted to open the safety gates. It was the most scary thing that I have ever had to deal with but the most focused I have ever been. In the car my wife was angry that I appeared so calm during the whole ordeal, then I explained that expressing my anger would not have helped find #2 any sooner, and that was the most important thing at the moment.

sangfroid - Coolness and composure, especially in trying circumstances.

Spent the day lounging in the morning and watching a good rerun of Sunday Morning, then went shopping for new work shoes, some gravel to finish my passable patio rebuild and buy some b-day presents for two of my boys' friends.

Then I spent the next two hours playing Legos with the boys and continuing the chillin'.

Then made a yummy London broil dinner with poached chicken for the boys, biscuits and seared/seasoned broccoli.

:D

Rode rollercoasters from 10:30 to 4:30 - a couple of times in the rain (the one time we got the front seats - that hurt)

I went to the ordination of a friend who became a Lutheran minister yesterday. Then I had dinner with my family and went for a short bicycle ride.... short because the palms of my hands are still bruised from the fall I took a couple weeks back.

Did some of my usual stuff on Saturday afternoon - laundry, recycling, checkbook, cleaning, reading.

today - more cleaning, more laundry, always reading something ?

French toast, sausage links, raspberries, and sparking wine brunch. Laundry of course. Now it's off to the pool deck for some sun time. :fl: :h:

Nesting. I made bread filled with salami, ham and provolone, peanut butter bars and fried peach pies. I gave away most of it.

Are quiet, peaceful weekends like these your favorite type of weekend?

Went to the first Cub Scout event today. It was a welcome back cookout where somehow I ended up being named assistant Den Master for my son's den. Then I was told that I had to buy a uniform. My wife commented that I will look good uniform so maybe this will work to my advantage. Regardless, I will be able to spend time with my son and help raise boys into successful men.

Offhand I don't recall our Den Leaders having uniforms. The Pack Leaders must of though. This was quite a few years ago though.

That is what I remember from when I was in cub scouts, but then again, that was in the 80's. A lot has changed since then.

Junior is currently in cub scouts (well, he'll be ascending to Webelo this fall if he stays with it) and his den leader has a uniform.
