Daily things 5️⃣ The Sunday Afternoon Club

What no posts ?

I did laundry and recycling yesterday.
today I am listening to the Colts game while scanning postcards sent from my Mom's travels for a stocking stuffer SD card.

71°F under clear skies and ZG is putting up the Christmas tree.

I hate heights and I hate climbing on ladders.

I'm back! I went camping last weekend. Good thing too because now there is snow on the ground. Its -14C today, I didn't even know it could get that cold in this area.

I've had a busy and fun-filled holiday, so today was low key. I had breakfast with a friend, and spent some time this afternoon working on a quilt I started over the summer.

Sunday afternoon was spent Christmas shopping and buying a Christmas tree.

Now that the weather has turned cold, Saturday nights are replacing Sunday afternoons for fun times.

went shopping for my secret :santa: victim ...err... recipient. not at :redstar: but :trophy: present

The Sunday gossip

Looks like I'll be terminating an employee tomorrow. (We'll give the option to resign.) Don't describe your lie to me as a "miscalculation" -- you were given clear direction that you chose to ignore.
Have I mentioned lately how much I hate personnel issues?

Also on the radar this week: the CM will be released from his duties. The rumors have been out there, it's likely to happen this time. This has far reaching impacts, including on yours truly.

The temperature has been hovering up around 10 to 15C now for the last while. There is no snow. Our local ski mountains that opened in November have "temporarily closed"... I could not be more unimpressed. Each year I await snow-time patiently, and for the last 3 years I have been sorely disappointed. I booked Sundays off from January through to April just so that I could snowboard every week. The snow better come...

Okay, but for now I still work Sundays, so off to work with me.

My sister and I went shopping in Pittsburgh's Strip District.

My son's friends are coming over later this afternoon, and I'll make something for them to eat. I'm also going to make
broccoli cheese rice casserole for a potluck lunch that follows a meeting tomorrow morning.

Packers are not playing well today. Very disappointing.

Miniskis is sick and we had to cancel his party today. We are a bit bummed but he has spend the entire day sleeping.

Sunday's plans started great, then everything went sideways from there. What was meant to be done was not so we're going to scramble this week and finish.

I received the most unexpected and pleasant surprise yesterday: my youngest son sent me a birthday gift. Swag from North Dakota. I love that kid.

I had to schedule a dental appointment for Tuesday, which was supposed to be my last day of work before vacation. I'm not ready to be gone, yet, so I'm at the office finishing up some things. I have to fill 2 records requests, then I can begin Sunday afternoon.

Good afternoon, everybody!
When congratulating Vancity for entering Teh Clube, I told her I'd upload an avatar over here.
:a:True to my word:a:--here it is:

Yep, it's one of those see-thru .pngs!
VC, let me know if you want me to "personalize" it more by adding text.:-D

We're having heavy rain this weekend, with a prediction of 6-12" over the two days. At the same time, we're having high tides and unusually high surf (20-25 feet). The result, in addition to flooding along the real rivers and some minor landslides, is that the ocean is sending so much sand up our short river that the lake in town is plugged up (and actually the river was flowing for a time from the ocean to the lake), raising the level of the lake by several feet with the run-off from the rain. The road that skirts the lake on the south side is under water. A contractor is out at the river now dredging out the river to let the lake drain. There will be people on the flooded road helping our endangered run of salmon cross the road safely.

Been fairly warm in the midwest but went skiing last week when it was 45-50 F and there was still plenty of snow on the ground. I'd guess the average in recent weeks has been closer to freezing though.

Thank you that is awesome!! :D I wonder if there is a way to include it in my signature? Anyone know how?

This is my second to last Sunday at teh crappy job (the customer service office admin one) .... I've decided in the new year I no longer want to work 7 days a week, so I'm cutting back to 6! :D

In kind of poor timing, I am also moving to a more expensive apartmet (SANS-ROOMMATES - mine are pesky) and I have been given a car (yeah, GIVEN.) soooo... life is changing fast. This all happened in the last week.

Sadly insurance isn't optional in Canada so that'll cost some money too 8-! Sortof regretting cutting my hours..

I'm keeping the car a secret from most of my friends... because I am sooo anti-car that it is a little embarassing to now have one.. but free car!? I couldn't say no. I'm only going to have it until my co-op job runs up. It takes an hour and a half to get there on the bus, but 15 mins by car.

I'm now learning to drive standard....

I'm hosting a party. My daughter is home for a visit and this'll give her a chance to see some folks.

The preparations were fun at the beginning. Now I'm just tired.

Laundry. Eat. Write.

[OT]I have a facebook friend who has not let one second of his daughter's life go unphotographed and unposted.[/OT]

De-clutter the house round #57:(

I did that too on Saturday, mainly because the bank appraiser was coming and I threatened the other occupants that their habitats were going to be photographed for posterity. The only remaining space to be decluttered in The Man's half of the closet. It might be June until it happens...when he will be in the Dominican Republic for a month. Yeah, I am evil like that.

This morning's brunch consisted of eggs benedict, hash browns, California raspberries, and California sparkling wine. The dogs loved the eggs, bearnaise sauce, and hash brown leftovers.

I cooked three meals this afternoon. My mom is old and doesn't cook, so I made enough food for her and us. Now, I'm going to get cleaned up and meet a friend for dinner. :)

Spent the afternoon helping the preschool program get their classrooms put back together for the start of classes tomorrow. Repainted their whole facility over Christmas break.

Have to meet with Junior's teacher this week for a "special" parent-teacher conference.:-@

I just completed the paperwork to retire from California. To all my friends in public employment in the Golden State, please stay employed so the CalPERS trust fund stays healthy. I thank you. :D

Now, Go Packers!!

You filthy leach.. I will not take part in this Ponzi scheme ;)

I went snowboarding today. The snow was fake, wet, heavy and slushy. I was by myself. But - I still had a pretty good time. :h:

Three hours of indoor soccer yesterday evening and my legs are tired, sore & ugh.

Had to get a new battery for the car which cancelled my afternoon plans of helping (watching) a buddy brew beer with football in the background.

Pre-emtive Sunday afternoon post - I will be in the US of A tomorrow. Going to the snowy mountains again. I guess there is a big football game in Seattle - I hope it doesn't clog up the border.

Snowboarding alone?
Quick, someone call Robert Putnam!;)
yes I often have to go alone :-$ none of my friends will buy a ticket and I have a season's pass....

.

I will be watching that game from the comfort of my home... GO Pack GO!

Philately. This term should be used more frequently. Maybe it is because my late father was a retired postmaster.

Checking in from my office, doing some cleaning/sorting/trashing. I've got music on really loud, ha! Right now Weezer's Buddy Holly is on, which is really great loud.

Nesting day today; my mom's coming for dinner, and I'm cooking an extra dinner so she has something home cooked for a couple of days.

It's a good day to wash and freshen those winter coats, folks!

Now, Go Packers!!
Are you still routing for them, now that they're playing against Seattle?
(Testing your alleged allegiance to NoCal.;))

Vancity, if you could get me on the path to Canadian citizenship, my friends and I will always go snowboarding with you. (IF you want to be seen with us.:lmao:)

A woman ran over my snowboard with her car and then drove away.
The board is .. well it still looks flat and even, but the left binding is completely mushed.
It was a great day on the mountain until that happened. Very sad indeed :(. Hopefully its fixble.. . I can't afford new bindings until next year....

I wonder if she knew she drove over it ....

Rainy cool day here on the edge of the Alberta Clipper that's going to dump a foot of snow on the East Coast. I could go for a good snowfall about now.:)
