Ok, this is a little late. For those who have seen it, what did y'all think of it. I saw during my Christmas vacation with my dad.
I loved it.
Mark Hamill as grumpy, senior citizen, get-off-my-lawn Luke Skywalker is/was the best thing of 2017.
And the ending-ish was great next level misdirection.

I'm with mendelman. With the exception of the character using the force in the vacuum of space...I enjoyed it, as I have enjoyed pretty much every Star Wars movie for what it is...escapist fun.
But where did the character even get that ability? Never once in the original movies did it even hint at it. I mean I suppose it's possible, it just seemed wildly out of place.

Meh. One of few minor nitpicks, in my opinion, to a 90% great movie.Well yeah I remember that part, but the ability seemed way out of left field. Like people train for decades to do what she did, and it never really hinted that she did anything of the sort.
I'm just not going to nitpick the whole saga...it's been too much a part of my life ever since seeing the original at a drive-in in 1978...and now sharing the experience with my sons.![]()
I didn't like the WWII style bomber tactics. I mean it's the future. You don't have better technology or tactics than classic B-52 style bomber fleets to include the spotter. Also, dropping bombs in space is kind of difficult without that gravity thing.

Poe Dameron is the new Hans Solo.
Is he was Dutch now?
[pedantic]It's Han...duh.[/pedantic]
Poe is definitely the new Han and I know a lot of the critics hated Benico del Toro's character but I really enjoyed him. All that said, Rogue One is still my favorite of all of them, Empire Strikes Back is my 2nd fav.
Without spoiling it for anyone, I felt that it was the funniest starwars movie in the franchise. I liked it but I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the force awakens; and if it means anything the Return of the Jedi is my all time favorite.
Without trying to give spoilers away... I thought that what happened to Snoke was a bit silly seeing as he was supposed to be the "emperor" of the First Order (he should have seen it coming). But it turns out that he might be playing a trick on Rey and Kylo because they are still "connected" which indicates that Snoke is still around...
But I still don't like what Kylo said about Rey's parents... I was hoping for more of an exciting resolution to that question.
I actually liked what Kylo said about her parents. It makes sense, and is really the whole crux of the Rebellion to begin with. Everyone matters, no mater where or what you come from. She wants to think that her parents were some great Jedi warriors but why? Will that suddenly change who she is?
Maybe I should go tell some kids to get off my lawn instead
...proceeding beyond Episode 3...
OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD...and so on and so on...Do you got any more of them Star Wars trailers?
I am really looking forward to this series. I loved the inquisitor storyline in Rebels. Almost as much as Grand Admiral Thrawn.OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD...and so on and so on...
As am I.I am really looking forward to this series.
As am I.
Considering this series, I bet talent resources were likely allocated more to this series to the detriment of The Book of Boba Fett, which may explain the barely acceptable execution.

My opinion is that it was 75% good, but only about 45% awesome.Good point. However, I absolutely loved the Book of Boba Fett!
I watched this trailer yesterday and I love the prospect of it.
we were like "you gotta go home, we're going to see Star Wars!"
Isn't this time period about 20-25 years before the events of The Force Awakens?...that early New Republic era has also yet to be shown on the big screen, I think.
Adapting the "Heir to the Empire" books into this setting would be my dream. More Thrawn, Imperial Remnant, and all of the politicking needed to stitch a democracy back together after a generation of tyranny. De-empirification, etc.Isn't this time period about 20-25 years before the events of The Force Awakens?
It would be fun to get more stories filling in the transition from end of the Empire to the First Order and the Starkiller Base time.
